With the game ending, the End User License Agreement's, Terms of Service's, and what other agreements there were, will all become invalid. That being said, anyone could start their own server using an archived version of Star Wars Galaxies at the time of shutdown, with all features included. Don't lose hope just yet, someone might actually do it.
Also HOLY SHIT THAT LOOKS COOL, I'll definitely return in november.

@RuledoCino Professions weren't nerfed because a PvE player was upset they couldn't solo a Krayt (Which they could by the way, both pre and Post CU) but because PvP leet kiddies who thought they were the biggest badasses on the block would get beat down by someone who just knew how to play the skills and classes they had better. Then they'd scream that profession(s) was way overpowered, and it became a vicious circle. PvP monkeys are to fault for that, PvE folks just wanted to play.

Why face the challenge of enemies when you can fly over them? Why spend an hour going somewhere when you can get there in 5 minutes? You miss out on all the content, everything becomes too easy and the longevity of the game is shortened. Now that SWG only has a couple months to go, longevity of the game isn't a factor.

@Fkpuz I totally agree, I was there through it all, and will be there in the end. Though SWG failing is not exclusively SOEs fault, even Smedley himself cannot hope to claim that SOE has no fault, or even that they do not have the majority. Even if the fan base LOVED SWG, the only ones that SOE had to please was Lucas Arts, and they failed, I guess no one at SOE realized that, so it's not their fault.
@nultater Lucas Arts was the one that called for complete revisions of the game. The 2nd revision they only gave the dev team 1 month to do it or they were going to revoke the Star Wars licence. I'm not an SOE apologist because they are truly a shit company, but SWG dying was not just their fault.
@nultater It had more to do with taking two years to reach 1 million copies and having a tough time holding more than 200k active subscribers that drove NGE. The original game wasn't all that wonderful, either. People really didn't want to go into a Star Wars game to play Uncle Ben.
@LTNetjak I agree with you in principle, the game was not wonderful before the NGE. All I'm saying is that the NGE was the nail in the coffin. The NGE did not do what SOE hoped that it would and revitalize the game to the point that it could be successful. Or perhaps you're under the impression that it DID do what they hoped, and because SOE was so wildly successful with the NGE that Lucas Arts didn't want that HUGE subscription base to use the Star Wars License so they revoked it.
@nultater No, the pretty much failed hard with NGE to the point it was better to have not done it at all (launching it two days after an expansion was a real bad move). They did have to make a change, but the original direction was fundamentally flawed to the point it was probably not going to happen. Once you get a bad reputation, it's next to impossible to undo it.

@LosianTheDrake They revoked it BECAUSE they ninja performed the NGE right after the release of trials of Obi-Wan fundamentally changing the game WITHOUT NOTIFYING ANYONE that they were doing this intentionally the NGE had gone down as one of the signle WORST business mistakes that has happened in the gaming industry. You have every right to be pissed ad SOE for it because before LA revoked it they went to SOE to try and get them to restore the game to a point where it still made money.

swg hasn't been great since 2005 but yeah, this looks pretty cool. dunno why they would release new stuff after the game has been announced to end in december.
@Bardathehobo No, the devs mentioned maybe later but right now 'no' only ship-to-ship combat. However, you can fly into battlefield areas like Restuss and fight overhead the people on the ground

@aroneo3 They agreed to not renew the liscense. It effect, revoking SOE's right to continue work on SWG.
SWG is copywritten by LucasArts, but owned by SOE. SOE can't make copywritten games without said liscense.
Everything to do with TOR.
The LucasArts representative said flat out it was to remove competition for TOR.
Not to restrict income to LucasArts, but to allow whoever it now making TOr to reap both rewards.
