  • Im very very sorry for these people..

  • lol boy at 05:20

  • thank you very much afromann you make my day i want to beg in the name of god to upload more of ikeji if possible remain bless and god bless you.

  • i miss all of these, my place Ndiowu Anambra used to have this festiva, they were two of them: ikeji and okponshi..., but they became christians and have abandoned all these, we gradually lost all of our values...it hurts me to see that our traditions and values are disappearing all in the name of Christianity!! Omenala Igbo na ana ni ike....

  • i need to go to one of this

  • are now adpting our culture.. go to salvador(bahia ) in brazil. colombia(choco or palanga) to cuba, haita, belize.. not to mention a few even en New orleans.. you be shocked.

IGBO KWENU OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.. LONG LIFE NDI IGBO

  • @igbos27 I beg to differ, but this is a show of Igbo traditional and culture at its purest form, or at least close to it. This tradition was passed down centuries before christainity came to Africa (or was forced on Africans). Just like main street parades in places like the USA this aspect of our culture does not dissipate religion or believe in Christ. Both are not mutually exclusive. Thank you.

  • Ike ji is a thanksgiving tradition. But we must celebrate in form and tradition of our ancestors who never used the ocassion to harm anyone but thank Ebi ebi,Odogwu Ebube dike, ChiOkike kere igwe na uwa, igwe na eche ndu. Its a community infact it is for any Igbo who believes in the intervention of Isi iyi nke ndu.Obukwa ubosi Eke.

  • am from arondizugo but neva attended dis cos i serious tink its not at represent. i kw pericoma cos i can remeber seing him in ma huz in villa wen i was a kid

  • Arondizuogu (Aro ndi zuru ogu n'uzo). This people are known as powerful warriors. They are said to come from the historical Long Juju area. The singer Pericoma hails from Arondizuogu. They are known for "wonderful deeds".

  • isnt arondizuogu in imo state

  • You are correct. The town is in Imo state. But all Aro people are said to have migrated from Arochukwu in present day Abia State. Arochukwu historically is known for their Long Juju deity with many messengers that traversed the entire Igboland. This is also true of the Aro warriors which can be found even in Anambra State.

  • u tslking about pericoma okoye or what, well it cuz my parent are from imo but i was born here so i wus just wondering cuz it sounded famillar

  • lost souls i wish ther repent b/4 is too late

  • Yes, this present age is hinged ONLY in the Salvation achieved for mankind by JESUS. There's no more need for any "show of power" as CHRIST IS THE NEW RITE (Novo cedat ritui). In absolute sense, when you hv passed a stage, u don't just go back to it again (atavism), except 4 history.

  • elonnaclive, I thank you for ur constructive reply. However, I'll be quick to state that when it comes to Tradition, we must differentiate btwn Good Heritage & atavistic burden of borrowed practices incorporated into Igbo over time. When you do simple study on the progressiveness of the culture of masquerading, you'll be much pertubed by the revelations.

  • Most useless is ANY Tradition that still purports "harm", "danger" "uncanny practices" & is willingly tilltated towards the vicious circle of poverty. Theres no economic calculation to show how ikedo elili-owu, nkwughalu and iti-mmoo oku na-enwu nisi helps to increase the well-being of our people. All they can get during & after the masqueradings is momentary happiness, wastages, village acrimony, squabbles, etc. USA or even Cuba, Brazil & UK are not good models. Dont be fooled.

  • igbos27 i will make that research. however; don't you think we should hold on to and appreciate what seems to be the last bastion in a fight to sustain a dying tradition/culture.

  • Well-said. I agree and support any move(s) dedicated to the 3Rs of Culture modification (in seeking to revive, retain and revise where necessary, all features and characteristics of ordeal, bondage, diabolism & blood-letting which are hitherto, the hallmarks of borrowed "DIKEism" among us. We can do better by channeling all self-same energies to rebranding the IGBO of our ancestors who were men our forebears who were deeply religious (my respects to B. Diop & CNC Odelora Igboegbuna).

  • We ought to revive only those that measure to good; retain the ones that will accrue prosperity, but revise and expunge all the nuances of evil which are NEVER original with the Igbo of Chukwu-Abiama (God of Abraham). It is good legacy for the Igbo of years-gone to reconcile with the Igbo of here-and-now if the noble bequests are earned anew for real possession. This is what our teacher; the Rev Fr. Prof Ikenga Metuh left us in the Odenigbo Lectures. We must grapple with the Reality of Reason

  • Hei I miss home ooo. Izuogu kwezuo nu
