Can I ask you when you learned the dobro did you do it by ear or professional lessons.

I haven't had lessons, but there are a few good DVDs available. Quite a few teach the basics perfectly well, and once you've mastered that, get all the Bob Brozman DVDs and if you get through all those, you can be pretty proud of yourself. Jerry Douglas and Rob Ickes are better if you're mainly interested in bluegrass.

It's alot of fun.

That is a fine song with a great touch on the Dobro. Not that it matters much but I think you might want to know a bit about slide guitar terminology. I play electric lap steel, pedal steel, Dobro, Hawiian steel and a variety of custom made steel guitars. They are all slide guitars because any guitar playing with any slide, including bottleneck guitar, is slide guitar playing. Steel guitar refers to any playing with a steel bar, not the instrument itself. Blah... Blah, etc.

Good luck figuring it out... there's no better way to improve your ear than working stuff out. But I know odd tunings can make life alot more tricky.

You do have to watch what you're doing it's true. When I get around to it I'm going to get into using the Bm tuning (just tune the G's down to F#). Listen to La Rosita by Sol K Bright.
