This was a surprisingly brilliant film, but honestly, the ending felt too cruel. No one had a happy ending, Jet is still alone, living a sad life of prostitution. Sam commited suicide which is NEVER the answer. But the one I feel truly bad for his Ah-ching. He lived a good, happy life, then Sam cheated on him with that Kinglsley guy, then exploited him and pressured him into going into prostitution, and Sam never even apologized to him. The ending dream sequence was beautiful though, 5 stars.

This is one of the best pink films that I have ever watched. However, this is also tragic since it shows that their love was not able to conquer social norms. In the end, they were consumed by the society's beliefs and expectations. Does this confirm the rationalist idea of Plato and that people should not interact with the other class? How I wish people who experience love will eventually be happy and joyful.

I agree that that was not love but rather, a deep sense of attraction. For the case of the parents, they fear that no one will take care of their children when they get old. In developing countries such as where i am right now, parents view their children as an "insurance". They invest something on it now, then, they expect their children to take care of them when they get old.

LGBT activism is about gaining these rights, and building your kind of family. So parents have no right to intrude on the issue, not even from the perspective of grand children. My problem with these cultures is that they dont seem to understand basic human rights, and that humans are not objects. And gay people in these countries have no scientific understanding of sexual orientation, and most of them have self hate issues, because they dont understand it.
Well parents tend to see children as their possession even in Europe and other so called developed parts of the world. But its not the parents that are the problem, But the gay people themselves. First of all they dont see themselves as normal, then they dont realise that they can have children if they want to by surrogate mothers, sperm banks, or adoption, thirdly they can imagine marrying their same gender partner and having a family with. Now thats the problem.
Why should I? If I want to have a child Ill have it because I desire one, not because I consider him a possession, that is total nonsense and lacks all human empathy. And if I want to have a child I can have one or 10, I dont need to be a heterosexual to have that. There are surrogate mothers, and there are orphans all over the world.
Well if you are afraid of something, you should be afraid of what will your life be till you get old and crippled. Because being old is a very short time compared to the 50 years ahead of you.
And besides I dont have the time to worry. I have a life to live everyday and I dont have the time to wait for happiness.
You could die any day, the majority of people die before they get too old. You have this life to worry about, not your possible old age.
if you are gay and not attracted to girl, first of all you should worry about being comfortable with whom you are.
Then with whom will love you, if you want a long term relationship, and when you are 30-40 and you are economically strong you can worry about children.

I absolutely don't have any intentions of discriminating you. I am a big supporter of gay marriage..and not JUST of gay marriage, but such as same-sex dating and etc. I believe everyone should be free to love whomever they want. If you feel that the changes are good, then it probably is. Why else would you think it's good, right? :) Enjoy the path that you take!

This movie is amazing! It really shows how far homophobia in societies can push people to live their lives as many do in this movie. You can really see how this countries country is when Sam kills himself so easily at the end. I was so confused there I did not see it coming first I was really pissed off then I balled like a baby because it was so fricked up! Still awesome piece of prodution...

he gave up on love and life very easily. probably thats why I dont really believe in his love, it seems very not heroic. he should have fought for his love. unfortunately he choose to acknowledge only the feelings of his small minded father. anyway this story points out a huge problem in a culture where homophobia is not created by religion(like in Europe), but by cultural ignorance.

The interesting aspect well portrayed in both movies, is that not hate towards gay people, but self hate in gay people, is the biggest enemy of both a happy life and a stronger LGBT community in these cultures. These countries have both the economical and the educational development as Europe or North America, but they still have a very small active LGBT rights movement. And this is all due to self hate, and ignorance of the gay people themselves, that is what love cannot conquer.

Love and shame dont belong in the same closet, and I dont believe you can feel both at the same time. True loves makes you stronger than youve ever been. Neither this story nor the other one youve mentioned portrays true love stories. They both portray beautiful boys in fleeting romances. Bishonen is the epithet of the YAOI culture. It expresses how beauty is nothing without strength of character, being attracted to an object of beauty is not love, its just lust.

I agree that that was not love but rather, a deep sense of attraction. For the case of the parents, they fear that no one will take care of their children when they get old. In developing countries such as where i am right now, parents view their children as an "insurance". They invest something on it now, then, they expect their children to take care of them when they get old.

LGBT activism is about gaining these rights, and building your kind of family. So parents have no right to intrude on the issue, not even from the perspective of grand children. My problem with these cultures is that they dont seem to understand basic human rights, and that humans are not objects. And gay people in these countries have no scientific understanding of sexual orientation, and most of them have self hate issues, because they dont understand it.

Well parents tend to see children as their possession even in Europe and other so called developed parts of the world. But its not the parents that are the problem, But the gay people themselves. First of all they dont see themselves as normal, then they dont realise that they can have children if they want to by surrogate mothers, sperm banks, or adoption, thirdly they can imagine marrying their same gender partner and having a family with. Now thats the problem.

Why should I? If I want to have a child Ill have it because I desire one, not because I consider him a possession, that is total nonsense and lacks all human empathy. And if I want to have a child I can have one or 10, I dont need to be a heterosexual to have that. There are surrogate mothers, and there are orphans all over the world.

Well if you are afraid of something, you should be afraid of what will your life be till you get old and crippled. Because being old is a very short time compared to the 50 years ahead of you.
And besides I dont have the time to worry. I have a life to live everyday and I dont have the time to wait for happiness.
You could die any day, the majority of people die before they get too old. You have this life to worry about, not your possible old age.

if you are gay and not attracted to girl, first of all you should worry about being comfortable with whom you are.
Then with whom will love you, if you want a long term relationship, and when you are 30-40 and you are economically strong you can worry about children.
Think rationally and be smart.

He killed himself.
He was a closeted homosexual all his life.
And now his father discovered the truth, and he cant accept that, so he kills himself.
A very cowardly and shameful act at his age.
He had no consideration for his so called boyfriend, because living a life of lies makes you insensitive.
I loved this film because it shows how the lack of strength of character can lead to unhappiness.
And how beauty does not mean a thing.

There are many gay movies that have a happy ending.
In one of the Daniel also plays, its called Enter the Phoenix. Another Asian happy gay movie is called Manay Po.
I have a few among my favourites, or at least a video of the movie, you can also find the rest on the original page of the video.
