  • LOL Jimmy Page is really beating the shit out of that 12-string !

  • @covermethis1 Hahahahaha!!!!

  • i saw these guys n the 90's in philadelphia it was the best concert ever!

  • neeeds banjo!

  • Jimmy looks like Susan Boyle.

  • @ericjungleboy Susan boyle looks like Jimmy.

  • I saw them in Largo, Maryland - Dallas, TX and ended up in New York at Madison Square Garden. 3 weeks...3 Zep concerts. I still have the ticket stubs. I also saw Robert Plant a few times when he was solo in the '80's.

  • I was lucky enough to see Led Zeppelin LIVE 3 times in 1977. I'll never forget the thrill of seeing them right in front of me....

  • @ellensyatt you lucky bastard! what concerts??

  • jimi page is my father

  • one lies the other swears to it

  • 1. There is a sponsored ad for "Ron Paul on gold and silver." One presumes it's about buying your way off death row?... 2. On a more serious note, what do people think -- did this benefit from the mandolin and the banjo as in the recorded version on III, or is this "cleaner" version -- well, more powerful?... Need help deciding. Is there a bootleg of the lineup with Bonzo and JPJ playing this and Page on guitar only?

  • Robert Plant is one of the greatest rock frontmen ever!!! I can't say he's THE greatest because the late Freddie Mercury and Mick Jagger are also among the best.

  • it needs the mandolin and banjo, great song tho

  • When Plant and Page die, I'm going to lock myself in my basement and go in the timeout courner

  • @RipzMan24 I'd cry like a little girl for days. No, weeks.

  • Jimmy Page is so hot, his playing and looks, a real hottie even in his older years.

  • The ledder the better !

  • look how old Plant looks and he still has the same amazing voice

  • @RipzMan24 Bite ur freakin tongue dude!!!! He is still a golden god!!!!!OMFG He is the hottest old man out there!!!!

  • I just had a eargasm!!!!!!

  • That ovation sounds like what I imagine a piano might sound like after being pushed out of the top floor of the Willis Tower.

  • Robert A. Plant Rock the fuck on MY LIFE!!!

  • zeppelin III baby!

  • Fucking great song!!!!

  • fucking awesome! LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!

  • my prayers for Michael Lee. he was an amazing drummer who played with such incredible joy!

  • @drinfothv He was great but he's sound and playing was way different to John Bonham.

  • Man, Jimmy Page is ugly, but brilliant!

  • @thedyermaker1 AHHAHA that's messed up he looks like susan boyle here lol i think its just the time of this "reunion" with quotes because of the exception of someone very important, he looks normal now

  • Comment removed

  • I WOULD HAVE SAVED HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is somewhere between "superb" and "fing brilliant" -- and reminds us all, what a gifted arranger Page is. How did he decide to add mandolin and banjo to this? -- given how good it sounds just with guitar -- a mystery, but moved the original to the realm of the transcendent.

  • My girlfriend ask me:"who the hell is robert plant?"...and now i'm single

  • @TheDanteCobain: Congrats man! ;)

  • @TheDanteCobain how young was your girlfriend?

  • @mona1017 she was 17

she is under ground in Kielce Poland

  • @TheDanteCobain it probably hurts man but you did the right thing...: )

  • @TheDanteCobain now that is probably the best comment on the whole of youtube.

you will meet someone else but she will never be whole without ever knowing who robert plant is

  • @TheDanteCobain did you lesson her up man \m/\m/ <3.. allin the name of love:}

  • @TheDanteCobain Robert Plant was the first man I thought I ever loved. I was 7.

  • @TheDanteCobain .. :) well done!!

  • @TheDanteCobain May not be worth getting rid of her just for that., on the good side that means she may be too young to know who he is... and a late 40's man wouldn't mind a woman that was too young to know who is is.. :)

  • @TheDanteCobain you're so cool, man, really.

  • @TheDanteCobain I hate people like that!!! haha I was brought up knowing and loving Plant and Page haha

  • @TheDanteCobain > Amen brother :)

  • @TheDanteCobain LOVE IT! Can soooooo relate..LOL!

  • @TheDanteCobain I don't know her, but maybe it would been worth to tell her about hin...

  • @IMaiden23

  • Fabuloso

  • Greatest Rock singer ever.

  • this sucks

  • I fucking love Robert Plant

  • brilliant recording.

  • Awesome! Brilliant! etc..........great post - thanks!

  • ♫ ♥ ♫ ♥ I LOVE LED♥

    ► Play

  • My sister riding many miles O.o

  • EPIC PERFORMANCE

  • i love this song...

  • Mind-blowing folk number.

  • love this song. is he playing it half-a-step down or in a page-tuning like DADGAD?

  • I would have that Ovations babies. All of them.

  • the drummer is happy ^^

  • @JustonGroove Oh yeah, I can say is the dream of every young rocker like me

  • Also i can't even begin to describe how hard it is to play this song with the pace that plant plays it with here. His touch is absolutely astounding and staggering.

  • Led zeppelin and nirvana both had heavy influences from leadbelly, not surprisingly they were the two best bands to come out since the 70's. In particular cobain and plant both saw leadbelly as a genius.

  • i love these guys

  • anyone figure out the tuning hes using in tihs vid?

  • @psilocinfully

Standard tuning, just dropped down a full step. Tune your low E string to D and take it from there

  • @sativasiva wrong... it's a half step down.

  • Mickey Rourke looks like Ugly Robert Plant. And Robert Plant looks like Handsome Mickey Rourke

  • Great to hear Robert giving credit to the origin of the Scots/English ballad (about a maiden at the "gallows tree") which turned into a black american folk song - and then via Zep into a rock song.

  • a song made by black people. in this case the kind of song expressing the sorrow of seeing the type of atrocity committed by anyone who goes around hanging another person. especially when the person is someone you know and having to worry that some day it may be you. the comment is not meant to be racist.

  • @MegaLuigiv I didn't say the comment was racist; I said it was "ignorant." Songs are performed by black artists, in this case Gallows Pole. The fact that Leadbelly performed it does not turn it into a "black song" but rather a reinterpreted folk song (of dubious origin). Listen, I'm not trying to make a huge issue out of this; I just think that Plant is woefully out of touch with black artists, which is ironic considering how much of their work he has, um, "borrowed" from over the years.

  • What the hell is a "black song"?

For the love of God, Pagey and Jonesy, find another kick-ass drummer like Lee and tour WITHOUT Plant's ignorant, lost-his-voice-in-1973 ass.

  • @LedLass Regardless of whether he still has his voice or not, isn't fairly obvious after all this time that Pagey just isn't inspired to do anything without Plant by his side?

  • @rodentcafeteria Yes, I agree. Zeppelin was Page's baby; he had everything he wanted and needed to inspire him in that band, including, unfortunately, Plant. I only say "unfortunately" because, as you implied, none of the remaining members of Zep will ever tour again unless Plant is among them, and Plant's too busy doing his own thing to be bothered. (Actually, I think it's more because, sadly, he just can't sing most of those songs anymore.) Ah well...we can always hope, yes? :-)

  • @LedLass Actually, I think there's more to it than just a lack of vocal power, because songs can be re-worked or the key lowered to accommodate for that. Do you really want to see a 60-year-old man attempting to re-create an image he had nearly 40 years ago? Wheezing his way through another chorus of "Whole Lotta Love"? Plant turned down millions to do a re-union tour, so obviously money isn't an issue for him. He's simply moved on and I respect him for that.

  • @rodentcafeteria When I said Plant can't sing most of those songs anymore, I wasn't referring to the single fact that his voice has changed dramatically but to all the reasons, including image, etc. No, I was thinking more along the lines of them doing stuff like what's on No Quarter but with Jonesy this time around. And I would respect him for "moving on" if he truly had done that, i.e., if he would stop including a set of Zeppelin songs in every tour (and butchering them in the process).

  • @LedLass Robert Plant's voice may have diminished, but his "mystic" is very much intact. Tell me, how can one butcher their own work? After all, he did co-write nearly all Zep tunes and is free to interpret them any way he pleases. Perhaps this is the way he intended for those songs to be played were it not for Page's Les Paul and Marshall amps. Jimmy may own the Zeppelin name, but the Zeppelin songs belong to both Jimmy and Robert.

  • @rodentcafeteria How can one butcher their own work, you ask? For a perfect example, go and listen to Plant's version of Houses of the Holy (which is here on You Tube somewhere), and you'll understand what I'm talking about. Just because one CAN ("...reinterpret...") doesn't always mean one SHOULD.

  • god damn it jimmy realese a biography and clear up all these bullshit rumors once and for all

  • Great Big Sea does this song much better....

  • @NRen2k5 Love the GBS version, but can't beat the original.

  • I think Page told Plants drummer to not worry about even attempting what Bonham did with the rhythm on this tune. JHB added a visceral pulse that balanced the song. Good version, even still.

  • NOW I LAUGH AND PULL SO HARD

  • Is that Robert Plants son on drums?

  • @zxhamstring No, but his son-in-law is in the band.

  • @zxhamstring according to the info box it's Michael Lee.

  • That riff's funckin' tasty ! =O

  • @revognah2 God it's like nobody posting here knows anything about Zep!!! You're the second person to not get it! First..Page is massive into black magic and Alister Crowely (read any Zep biography)..so that was he comes from the darkness...allthough it was meant to be taken as an in joke. Secondly listen to the song 'No Quarter' there's a line in that song..."Walking side by side with death, the devil mocks their every step".....Any Zep fan would just nod and smile...!

  • @1THETRUTH10 nice :D

  • @Artaxerxes333 Respect.....good to see a true Zep fan on here ;)

  • @1THETRUTH10 Sorry, but *you're* the one who doesn't know your Zep history. Jimmy Page was long past his Alister Cowley phase by this time, just as he was long free of heroin..

And the lyrics from No Quarter: this song, like the Immigrant Song, is about the Viking invasions of the British Isles. The line you refer to is about the hell of that war.

If you don't know what "no quarter" means, in the context of medieval warfare .... well, Google is your friend.

  • @LeoAsc Ok u clearly are a bit stupid.......when did I ever mention what the song No Quarter was about eh?? And Page has a history of being into black magic........when I went to see them in Birmingham rumors were rife that Page had actually sacraficed a baby backstage hours before the gig!

  • @1THETRUTH10 You *quoted* a line from No Quarter in the comment that seems to have been removed. No matter, I'm not going to engage with someone who believes crazy shit like that "rumor".

  • @1THETRUTH10 that is withgout question the stupidest comment I ahve ver read . Congratulations

  • @RisingSon011 I take it ur american......fucking hell u guys are dumb! Do u know what sarcasm is? Do u not maybe think "oh he's joking"......??? Im so happy to be british, just like the mighty Zep :D

  • @1THETRUTH10 no , i did however think ' oh hes an idiot "

  • @1THETRUTH10 yea its a sign of superior intelligence to make generalities about entire nations , especially nations which you have never so much as visited .

  • @RisingSon011 Sadly when it comes to americans those generalities are so often true.....as u have proven.....have a nice day (with fake american smile) :D

  • @1THETRUTH10 i think you watch too much television

  • @RisingSon011 I Think u have no sense of humour......but then again u are american :) Try reading british rock biogs on Zep,the beatles and the stones......it will round out ur personality, and who knows u might gain a sense of humour?

  • @revognah2 What, is your "what" referring to?

  • WTF are u talking about?? Is someone a little peeved...?

  • 4:10

    Rock accordion, nice!

  • the drummer!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the drummers John bounhard

  • still kings

  • Ha.... fuck off with your pilgrim fathers.

  • Monster of a song...!!! Thanks for the post...

  • michael lee was a ferocius beast in the drums !!

imho more brutal than bonzos son

now hes jamming with bonzo in heaven

    RIP

  • Ovations just suck. Dont they?

  • @SickFX1 Is that why Al DiMeola, Cat Stevens, etc. and almost everyone in the 70s played one. I think they fell out of favor because people became so fat they just can't play them because of the round back. Plugged in, these guitars are the best.

  • great concertina work

  • Thanks for sharing...

  • My FAV song by Zeppelin. I guess its a cover which isn't surprising. Can't go wrong with these guys.

  • Thanks so much for posting this concert, certainly one of their best EVER!

  • I love the way Robert Plant stands in one spot and does the "shimmy" the way he does at 2:48. He's done that as far back as I can remember. It's like he lets the music completely consume him. He's always been in a league all his own!!

  • they came on stage at 6:00pm with the sun going down behind the stage. the city of tampa turned the power to the stadium off at 12:20am. we sat in the stands until daylight. it was 1:00pm before we got out of the parking lot. interstate 75 stopped in tampa. the sunshine skyway 2 lanes north & north & south.there was over 200,000 people inside & in the parking lots. highway 41was 4lanes highway 301 was 2. gas stations ran out of gas. cars broke down blocked the road.

  • LED ZEPPELIN

JEEZ SPELL IT RIGHT IF YOU WENT TO THE CONCERT

There is no way in hell they played over 6 and a half hours

42 hours home? How is that possible?

  • I've seen two Zep tours around the same time and this story is either fishy or he was perceptually distorted. I think he still is.

  • -nonthere- he wasthere ,(only in a different timezone;)

  • Come ON! mr.-RacR-.....first start yourself spelling Jesus right.

-Barnesfarm- was on a handfull of LSD that night, give'im some leaway.

  • Michael Lee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cuecards? you mean the teleprompter i assume. well he did just hit half a century when this concert was on (according the the info) and it's no tlike he's always looking down.

  • jimmy page kicks ass

  • Their best songs are the old blues tunes. Such as Babe I'm gonna leave you and when the levee breaks.

  • Michael Lee is the best drummer (except Bonzo, naturally)Page and Plant play with!far better than the son of Bonham...

    The guy GROOVE!!!

  • I think he has more groove to it than Bonzo...

  • the best duo ever

  • what is the name of jimmy page's guitar here
