  • i just fall in love with the guitar break at 2:08, reminds me of mike oldfield

  • Best live band...ever.

  • My song

  • gorgeous!

  • I had a few of their albums. Looking back, 10 CC and ELO kind of sounded similar.

  • Probably the best pop singles band ever. Excellent songs from Donna through to Godley & Creme,s brilliant singles Under Your Thumb and Wedding Bells. Loved them when i was a kid

  • Kings of the four minute concept single!

  • 10cc are absolutely ace!!!!!!!!!

  • Probably their best ever. Such a sublime and haunting song. Just perfect.

  • @icemaiden99 ..............grettings icemaiden. long time no see dude. that bad a s s gossip from 10cc's '71 vienna visit that you wanted can be found at "australian army recruitment ad rmc auzzzie". johnno posted it there. just remember to press "see all" to get the 3 hidden comments. regards. hope to see you soon.

  • Brilliant I loved the 70s

  • I was living in England when this song came out. I was an avid TOTP fan and this song blew me away. When we returned to the U.S. that same year the record was impossible to find. For years I tried to find it. When I finally did, listening to it again after all those years was like being transported back in time - seriously - I would watch this in my parent's room on their TV - it was 1976, I was 13 years old. Thank God it's possible to find these hidden gems in mp3 versions!!

  • the best of the best top top top great super LOVE ITT

  • I always thought it was a daydream based on the many advertising posters of the time saying things like I'm (name), Fly Me. I remember one in Bedford (UK) where I lived, past it on my way to school by the railway bridge on Kempston Road. She came out of the poster and welcomed me aboard. The girls in the posters were of course all good-looking. He imagines her as Ursula Andress in Dr No, giving him the kiss of life. He extends the daydream into the song.

  • They were all Jewish except Eric Stewart the lead singer. You want proof, check out the conks...

  • @StillRickyVilla And why is that relevant ?

  • Always thought it was about an air hostess killed in a plane crash after heroically saving his life which seemed poignant in 1976 as there were terrible plane crashes around that time.

  • effing love this tune.

  • Classic song this, i especially like the guitar section in the middle :)

  • What was Mandraxx?

  • @psi4rick A form of Barbiturate, a recreational drug widely used in the 60s and 70s. Kids from the 80s and 90s thought they invented drugs, nahh , we had them long before that, we just didn't become reliant on them lol.

  • Had the honour of seeing them playing " at home" the Free Trade Hall, Manchester 75 supporting Original Soundtrack, what a fantastic band, four singer songwriters and multi instumentalsts who just worked together so well, with clever, intelligent lyrics and masterful playing (back then they brought an extra drummer so Kevin could do other stuff), finished with a looooong version of Rubber Bullets.

  • Just watched this great band on Vintage TV, and they are still Amazing! always loved this song....lucky Mandy ;)

  • Huge originality and emotion from this amazing band. Every song is so unique.

  • Great Satire,What was it?TWA Ads from the late 60s early 70s?

  • @twowheelflyercr it's about the drug MANDRAXX

  • Back again to listen to this classic. The guitar is superb. Best heard with head phones. Love it

  • Still a classic after all these years..summer of 76,phew.!

  • Cracking track they don't make um like this anymore

Don't you feel sorry for todays youth

  • Totally beautiful song and talented band. Even people who don't like 10cc particularly all admit to loving I'm Mandy. Class music and lyrics.

  • What a great song.

This is an example of beautiful music from the past that

today's bands somehow cannot make anymore ...

  • Oh - no, you'll never get me up in one of these again,

'Cause what goes up (goes up) must come down (down, down, down)!

  • Thanks for posting this one...

10cc are one fo the best 70's UK bands, better than most and mostly misunderstood now. Queen weer inspired by this band... think about it....

Oh, and as a result iof listening to this song and other 10cc song I have PAID to download most of their albums and songs so...

Youtube is good for advertising... sort of .. try before you buy..... :)

  • nstantly... back in the '70s !!

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SONG!! one of the first I ever heard to be honest and after 20+ years i got to see it played live this year and it was incredible. And I got to tell that to the band after the show! Incredible!

  • These guys were very very stoned!!! Apart from this; 10 cc was such a creative group and terribly underrated in music history. Few groups could create this eclectic sound ad so innovative and charming; perfect music to relax and disconnect from this world for a little while

  • Awesome Song!!! Thankyou ristonborrows...Anita..:)

  • The best, thanks for posting.

  • one of many brillliant bands, did'nt know we had it so good

  • sheere brilliance we were spoilt with the great bands and music of 70s and 80s i hate what my kids call music rap all it is is talking in ryme over a goog song like p diddy "my best friend" sailing christopher cross and these boy bands omg they havent got a clue sad sacs isnt in it like jedwood or is it dead wood

  • Давно не слышал эту группу,а всё-таки классика есть классика,с классикой не поспоришь!!!

  • you are so rite the 70s to 80s was a good time for music the music menu.. was abundent you chose what you wanted , i loved 10cc ,david bowie, daved essex what a mixture like a 3 corse meal starter mane and pudding . the choice was yours music then was never same eee always something new

  • The best song about a plane crash ever made!

  • I remember living in England when this incredible song came out. Heard it on 'Top of the Pops' - early summer of 1976 when we (me and my parents) moved back to the U.S. I found it to be very melacholy ... I had finally begun to fit in with my English friends and had a crush on an English boy, Graham. Just when I felt like I belonged I was uprooted again. This song was very, very significant and did indeed, "struck a chord."

  • The power of music to instantly transport you back is amazing, in this case to the long, hot summer of '76 (in the UK at least) and a host of brilliant memories, old pals etc, and brilliant times. What a great time to be young but not too young to enjoy it. This song sticks in the mind from then for being so good. I'd started to realise they were a top band anyway after already hearing a few decent hits (Wall St Shuffle etc) but when I heard this one I was totally convinced.

  • @EvilSirJasper INDEED. Read my comment below. I know EXACTLY what you're talking about.

  • very McCartney/ Wings...a damned good song ! :)

  • @custer1968 Yes indeed; I've got the impression they wanted to do something in the line of Mc Cartney's "Band on the run", with the guitar break at 2'10"... Am I wrong?

  • the guitar riff form 2.10-3.10: one of the best in history

  • Check out Jerry Seinfeld @ 4:23...with a Jew-Fro !!!

  • @mikey60077 Graham Gouldman...hmm, was HE Jewish?

  • This was the song that got me hooked on 10cc back in '76... aaaaah, those were the days!!! :)

  • omg memories

  • reminds me of USMAPS 09-10...especially after we played Army JV and almost won

  • This brings back memories of playing with my mates in the 70,s, some of whom are no longer with us! God i wish i could get them days back!

  • How to make a drugs song AND make it a hit

  • @polyathiest this is a good fucking song...damn

  • One of the most intelligent pop acts that ever existed...

  • What a brilliant song. They don't write them like that any more. It was a take on Pan Am's adverts in the 1970s where their air hostesses would come on screen and say 'I'm Mandy/Mary/ etc. Fly me...'

  • Boy I don't know, after listening to this a thousand times, I think this song is basically about "him" surviving a plane crash and "her" never being found. As "she" walks on the water - suggesting "she" was on her path to heaven... Anyone...The sharks coming to get "him"...

  • I have no doubt that Godley and Creme were part of the making of this video. Love it.
