  • malmsteen is my favourite musical interpreter in this space time continuum

  • He is the only who could do it like this ! Solo improvisation in classical music with a rock feeling.

  • the picking sound..is ..annoying

  • i hate the "interlude" betwen the 2 songs, everyting else is mágic... XD

  • .....is this available ob CD or anything....?....Anyone can help?.....

  • @premkhuda A dvd..., i have it!...

  • @premkhuda

    I wanna know this too...

  • -------------------

  • He looks like the reinkarnation of J.S.BACH!.....;-)......

  • @premkhuda he is.

  • Best!

  • my god...

you can die happy next to have listen to this

  • this music is wonderfull and touch deep in the soul

  • Pepe Romero is another great guitar player and one of Yngwie's inspirations without a doubt.

  • Pepe Romero is another great guitar player and one of Yngwie's inspirations without a doubt.

  • MARAVILHOSOO.....TOCA UITO

    SOU FÃ DELEE

  • Doing that kind of stuff , Malmsteen set other standards for musicians of his kind . It's wonderful , melodic and pure as cold river water . What anyone should do , is just try to enjoy him the way he is and adore this particular music anyway.

  • i love reading posts written by some anonymous retard that claims he is better than Malmsteen but still he is not know in the world.

oh yeah you are so very cool.. underground guitarist that's so complex that nobody understands you :))

p.s english is not my native language, i speak 3 of them so forgive my spelling.

  • i never knew this was him. the best player ever. i loved his albums but never knew his greatness.

  • dude..he completely master music itself. he knows which fret and which string sounds what. He knows it all so he can play without watching where his finger is at and without music sheets for all songs while orchestra need music sheets obviously.. Malmsteen is a monster. he is way too good.

  • @tobikodayon lol, lots of guitarists can play without looking. not all that hard man . .n they don't "need" them. . they always have them there just in case. . cause they have to. . . don't get me wrong i think malmsteen is the best. .but ur comment doesn't make sense. . .

  • @bphatboyjohn123 huh? then go ahead and post yourself on the video so that I can see you not looking at frets at all. I love Marty Friedman (Megadeath guitarist) but he admitted that he has to look at the frets couple times when he plays. He is one of the greatest rock musicians but he still needs to look at the frets sometimes in order to keep himself not getting lost. I play guitar also and I tried not to look at frets but I still do as well. I think you never play a guitar.

  • @tobikodayon did i claim i could. . lol. . well duh. . yngwie does look at it alot too. . but alot of guitarists can do it without looking. .when their feeling it. .n improvising even more. . lol. ive been playing for 4 years. . i got a myspace w music on it. . but i don't wanna do videos. . youtube is for crappy artist to show off. .

  • @tobikodayon just so you know...Yngwie is staring at the neck alot...Don't take this the wrong way, He is a monster at guitar. He also composed the entirety of this concerto therefore should know his own music. The best orchestra's in the world read music when they play, this is to ensure minimal mistakes, plus they seldom have to time to memorize all of their music because they learn new material constantly.

  • did anyone notice the left handed finger pluck at 3:53....absolutely epic guitar playing

  • If u close your eyes and listen carefully to the music and melody, its like you are at the fantasy with angel!!! so beautiful!!

  • Masterpiece

But it's "toccata" and not "tocatta" :)

  • What's the brand of that guitar?

  • @lalalalaxwewewe The Brand of guitar is an Ovation Classical

  • Despite the fact that Malmsteen uses special equipment (a scalloped-neck guitar to be precise) he still has my respect as a master guitarist. I also think he was a big part of the inspiration for the Metalocalypse character Skwisgar Skwigelf.

  • @TheAtomicist42 acctually he says in an interview even tho he loves scalloped necks for the way thay feel hes says that it makes it harder to play fast

  • @zakkwells its true they feel great but thats bullshit that they slow you down. They speed me up. I never played one so i scalloped the neck on my squier strat and it went from a okay guitar to a great guitar. Honestly i'd rather play my scalloped squier neck then an MIM unscalloped. Its amazing.

  • @ravenrage07

I absolutely agree. I scalloped the neck of my cheapo strat copy and its sometimes more fun than playing my main guitars. another benefit of it: the vibrato. just epic!

  • jesus cant play like that just yngwie ahh those feeling makes me feel awesome i want to cry

  • Amazing! it´s all in his mind...

  • is the universe

  • this music is bringing tears to my eyes! and i am a macho man XD

  • perfect,no words...

  • He is good. Number 3. Joe satriani is 1st. And than Steve vai. Than him. He is sometimes to much.

  • Maestro malmsteen!! The best guitarist ever !

  • is toccata not tocatta

  • decile a DAVID ROSENTAL QUE LO TOQUE GIL!!!!! ENTENDES ALGO DE MUSICA GILLLL POR QUE NO ESCUCHAS Y TE CALLAS, PARA OPINAR COMO OPINAS!! Y APARTE LO ESCRIVIO EL

  • jajajaja, "GIL", esa palabra me da risa.

  • I wish i had one of those beautiful guitars.... Man, the ovation viper nylon string is the most beautiful acoustic there is!

  • is toccata not tocatta

  • 1:18 - 1:24 it's brilliant , and believe me, it isn't because of the speed

  • Say what you will about Malmsteen, but very few, if any , other rock guitar players could pull this off, which Yngwie mostly does. The solo (who has ever soloed with a symphony orchestra before?) beginning at 1.14 smokes, and is obviously improvised. I was pretty skeptical when I heard about this, but it's way better than I thought it would be and infinitely better than any of Yngwie's critics could do.

  • @hanksteelbranch Agreed. Say what you will but he is the real deal

  • @hanksteelbranch Who did play with orchestra ? Blackmore with Deep Purple......in 1969 !

  • @manuorchestra Apples and oranges. Malmsteen's guitar is fully integrated with the orchestra and functions as a violin. He also improvises in that context. Blackmore's guitar is integrated with the rock band and functions mostly independent of the orchestra. Splitting hairs perhaps, but I see a substantive difference in concept and execution.

  • @hanksteelbranch I agree, I just wanted to mention that Yngwie is not the first one who played with an Orchestra....Maybe, he's the closest to "Classical Spirit" because of his background and writing . His music and guitar style fit very well with this kind of orchestration....

  • @hanksteelbranch Metallica has...

  • @xCMxMach do you know who else did it? a crappy local hardcore emo band called detonautas' vocalist 'tico santa-cruz'... and it sucked. Therion has done a good job, scorpions, yes, metallica, dream theater... the difference is that yngwie wrote a concert and played it as a soloist, just like a cello or piano concert, unnacompanied by a band... some other 'popular' musicians have done this as well, like pino forastiere, but yngwie's superior result in this kinda test still hasn't been followed.

  • @Wando55 Yngwie actually wrote every single piece of music in this concert. Every single instrument is playing a piece of music that he wrote by himself. Every single instrument, which makes it that much more epic

  • @xCMxMach exactly

  • hamma

  • I absolutely love it and it doesn't matter what anyone says

  • Looking at the posts here, I agree, That speed isn`nt everything ..There has to be much more then that to make a great song ...My guitat teacher "Billy bauer" is the one who told me this ... Yngwies skills on classical music are fantastic!! As far as finger picking being traditional on classical ... No arguement there .. Lets all remember Jose Feleciano!! And he was blind btw ..

  • special thing about yngwie is he didnt look at the music notes while he playing,..in this concert...

  • What does it matter who is faster?

What matters is who you like better. I prefer Yngwie Malmsteen and Luca Turilli, I don't give a rats arse who thinks who is faster. What matters is the sound that comes out. Bunch of immature childish morons. Just enjoy it.

  • so falo uma coisa que simplifica tdo,

    MALMSTEEN IS PERFECT!!!

  • does he just use scales the are common in classical music or does he go deep into music theory

  • Well, there are the major and minor scales are common in classical....

Malmsteen tends to use arpeggioes, though.

  • It is amazing, I love malmsteen, but i always thought that an acoustic/classic guitar should be played with fingers, its the rigth way and moreover I dont like that sound of the pick. I thinks he uses it to play faster, and right, he's so fast but Paco de Lucia is faster and he plays only with his fingers ;)

  • Paco de Lucia is faster? give me a break!

  • I think so, but you can see it by yourself, surf the tube.

  • MY GOD i just browsed him and I saw you're right...he is just AWESOME!

  • He even kicks ass with an acustioc

  • none of you fools out there can even begin to come close to the tone, vibrato and especially the creative genius. bow to yngwie worship him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I Have been playing guitar for 50 years & like this guys style, very clever.

  • o melhor guitarrista do mundo!!! Malmsteen!!!

  • Yngwie Malmsteen was born in Sweden but left this country when he was about twenty.

In here talented people are terrible hated so it was a good idea for him to leave but a lost for Sweden of course.

He is some kind of genius for sure, with such a sense for beauty but also for strict composition.

    God bless him !

  • i agree 100%

  • Maybe, just maybe, Yngwie could do an all classical tour and play some well-known classical pieces arranged with some kick-butt guitar parts? That would sure impress those who like classical and rock. Overall, I am at least impressed with his ability to write orchestral arrangements whic at least compliment his work. Who else these days is writing anything like this?

  • wonderful, thank you for posting it on the web.

  • 3:03 nice!

  • i think these concerto suites malmsteen does are his best work, they are just brilliant.

  • Fantastic , incredible , amazing , inlightening.

That opening first 3 notes shoots me back mentaly to queens ryche.

  • yeahhhhhhhhhh Yngwie rulesssssssss

  • Check malmsteen shred on his black ovation nylon guitar live in my channel....!!!

Check it out now, its a long video with malmsteen shred on nylon guitar.....;=)

  • Yeah, it's an awesome performance. I've never seen that one before.

  • it rocks, dude! Thanks

    *response to stini02

  • Yngwie is a fantastic Guitarplayer and composer, he has written tons of great songs over the years, and this concerto suite is just magnificient, sorry if u dont have the musical talent to appreciate it.

    5 stars.

  • For someone of the "rock" genre to make this kind of music is amazing. Although his music is a tad harmonically boring like most pre-romantic music, it is awesome that he composed it himself.

  • Yngwie's musical style dosen't come from pre-romantic works of music. I think u r refering to the Boroque period of art which was almost 200 years after the fall of Rome.

  • Baroque is a musical era before the romantic era, therefore, it is PRE-romantic. Get it?

P.S. ~ It's BAROQUE! Not Boroque. Damn, at least insult me with proper spelling!

  • That's freakin' hillarious! After the fall of Rome so it can't be pre-romantic.... haha

  • whatever happened to just watching videos and privatly being a critic

  • don't be a hypocrite.

  • it was a joke

  • You must be new here. Welcome to YouTube.

  • It was a joke. seriously.

  • Again: welcome, sir.

  • 3:02-3:03 ROFL

  • Which is the instrument's name at 5:50 - 6:00??

, it are like a piano but sound diferent

    PLZZZ ANSWER ME !!!!!!

  • Spanish in the name of that instrument is "clave (means that key)" But not as we call it in English...

  • You know NOTHING about spanish, mi amigo.

  • yo hablo spanglish jajajaj XD

  • Yo hablo o ingles o español.

Hablo spanglish cuando estoy en california xD

  • hahahah!!!! xD

  • Perhaps a Clavier(Klavier) I am no specialist on instruments that cannot be plugged into an amp.. but I do recall things from long ago.

  • "Clavicordio"

  • yes... because of course malmsteen composed tocatta didn't he... seriously why are you watching a malmsteen video if you don't even like him?

  • I like this song very much I just dont like it when he needs his shredding masturbation.. for example, the fast parts at the beginning realy dont make it sound nicer...

  • i love it how he dosn't have to look at what he's doing

  • love yngwie.

  • 0:01 to 6:58 just Magnificent

  • He's by far the best guy who can shred with such emotion and feeling. I'm not saying that he's best at just the shredding but i've not seen anyone shred with such emotion before. It's just.. so.. beautiful, hard to tell with words.

  • Hell yeah!

  • Malmsteen, my hero !

The only one who make me a thrill !!!

  • Yngwie plays these movements a lot better on the audio CD. Seriously, I was kinda dissapointed when I realized this wasn't the same concerto suite as the audio CD.

  • I,M A GUITARIST FROM MALAYSIA..I,M BECOME THE NO 1 GUITARIST IN MY COUNTRY JUST BECAUSE I PLAY EXACLY LIKE MALMSTEEN...THEY CALLED ME ZAMRI MALMSTEEN..hahahahaha-I WISH I CAN BE ONE OF THE WORLD BEST GUITARIST SOON-NORZAMRI(malaysia guitar hero)

  • i've checked your videos and your not even close to malmsteen. wanker!

  • The best of the world can't be a copy...

    Sorry... :(

  • I know he's a guitar legend, but I just hate when he starts shredding in a soft and melodic song like this. It loses its gracefullness and it kills the mood of the song. Just my opinion...

  • did he write mucic for the entire orchestra or was he just a guest

  • He wrote wrote the music for the entire orchestra, including transposing it into the necessary clefs for all instruments. Furthermore, he wrote the markings (i.e. con fucio (with fire)) in both Italien and Japanese. A true genius.

  • Now thats what i call SCARY

  • Comment removed

  • The orchestra parts are pretty simple indeed

  • Of Course Mr. Malmsteen composed the entire Concerto.

  • this is one of my fav songs by him

  • buena obra malmsteen es un genio

  • it's toccata not tocatta

  • whatteva

  • Hi¡ i dont know about classical music but this concert with malmsteen is crazy good, sounds like majesty, dont you think?

  • Cool !

  • jesus christ man!!! i havent seen yngwie play an accoustic b for now. im impressed

  • see the acustic solo froom g3 live in denver it´s brilliant!!!!

  • what kind of fretwire use malmsteen on his guitar to get these nice vibrato and bending? how big are the frets?

  • his frets are Dunlop 6000 same as double jumbo. I have them on my guitar and they feel very smooth.

  • those strings sounds like they're nylon. I think they would have melted if they were though.

  • They are nylons

  • Spectacular and wonderful.

  • 5:25 is sick haha

  • c'est grand...

  • Does this peace exist on tape or CD?

  • both i have them both cause its peaceful stuff

  • yeah the whole concert was sold in a Vhs/CD/DVD combo pack thingy

  • Finally somebody to pick up from where Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Stravinsky left off.

Writing the first concerto for electric guitar and orchestra is in my opinion the most notable thing Malmsteen ever did.

The end of the prelude is gorgeous.

  • you need to listen to more classical music before making statements like this. You are leaving out a lot of composers from the romantic period

  • The most notable romantic that I have in mind is Bruch. But you might be right there might be others I never listened to. The best thing with classical music is that there's so much to listen to. What do you recommend?

If I come to think about it is not only the romantics that I didn't mention. How about a pre-classic like Bach?...

  • well he can't list them all now can he?

  • this speed killed the feelings in this song

  • oh, I forget. I hate the sound of picking.
