  • This song pierces through the fog of time. It evokes the optomism of youth, really it reminds me of the Kennedy years. Was it written while he was in office? It all but shines through the speakers!

  • drummerman11, i'd like to give you some romantic answer but...it's just that we needed a song for Darlene so we just wrote TIMTBIGM. thanks...and i'm so glad u and your wife like it. peace, tony

  • @dannyboimadonna that's actually how i first heard it (i'm only 24). you can hardly hear it in that scene, as it's in the background rather than in the soundtrack. took me a lot of googling to find out what song it was.

  • Love this song, great production, Phil at his very best, great lyrics from Tony Powers, and great gutsy vocals from Darlene Love and I believe it is basically the Crystals backing up but good to give Darlene Love the credit as lead singer.

  • @bigbirdandsnuffyfan thanx guys. peace, tony

  • Darlene Love was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. Sometimes, they get it right... Congraulations, Darlene !!

  • @fab4fan4ever64 Even if the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fames is filled with a lot of shit. It has as much creditably as Rolling Stone magazine has for me these days,

  • LEGENDARY

  • Thanks, Tony, for the sweet, innocent memories. Beautiful.

  • Thanks, Tony. You did a great job, It is a terrific song. The only weakness is I get funny looks when I sing it in public:-)

  • Hi to Tony, and all...I just love Darlene's strong, and powerfull soul felt voice. I lived in the projects at that time, and it all seemed to fit. That was a long time ago, but, even though I live much "better" today, I still think of those times as the best. I hear Darlene's voice on the radio in my car, and I have to pull over. They were happy times in what was really bad times. I will always love her style, and her voice.

  • pause it at 1:23

  • Hi all, my name isTony Powers, I wrote the lyric to this song way back when, and it is heartwarming to see all your comments about it. Many many thanks for your love of this song. peace, tony

  • @TonyPowers22 Oh my gosh....you wrote the lyrics to that song??? Wow, how cool. Those lyrics were so perfect. They captured the innocent feelings of a girl who just met her dream boy and thinks, "this is the boy I want to marry." You wrote such a sweet song and the music and Darlene Love's voice made it a complete masterpiece. Bravo, Tony Powers.

  • @TonyPowers22

Wow...a man wrote the lyrics....that is so surprising, yet so good to hear.

I adore this track...fell in love with it as soon as I heard it (not that long ago, I never saw Father of the Bride you see)...it's the pure joy of innocence that does it for me. Well that and Darlene's incredible voice, Spector's sublime production and not forgetting of course your wonderful lyrics.

    Many thanks.

  • @roachy333 thanx 4 the kind words roachy...i really appreciate them. peace, tony

  • @TonyPowers22 - LOVE THIS SONG, TONY!!! Thank you for being part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame through the fabulous Darlene Love! Your talent will never die...it will live on every time this record is played :}

  • @TonyPowers22 Tony, this is one of the greatest hits of all time. I'm sure you don't need me to confirm that. Just wanted to say thanks for an outstanding song!!!! Can't get enough!

  • @CADAZAN and thank you for the very kind words. peace, tony

  • @TonyPowers22 I see Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector also got credit for the lyrics, but we all know how that is, don't we? I love this song. Who wrote the melody?

  • @txtootsie tootsie, the melody was a combo of all of us - with Ellie in the lead. Thanx for the kind props. peace, tony

  • @TonyPowers22 Tony you are one very talented guy! God Bless and thanks for such a treasure!

  • you cannot mistake Darlene Love's voice it is unparalelled

  • Super classic. Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" is spectacular, along with the vocal and that saxophone.

  • Such a sweet song by the Crystals. This song is so reminiscent of the way girls back then felt about meeting "that special boy" that they dreamed of marrying. Today, they're most likely imagining what it would be like to be intimate with the guy but those were different times back then...

  • @SherryAnn68 ... but it's by Darlene Love, with any number of Blossoms in the background... the Crystals were on tour and not even available for backing sessions. : )

  • @SherryAnn68 yea now no dreaming at all of that special eprson to marry, but only how to get soemone into bed. How times and morals have changed.

  • @calihartley2010 You've got that right. Young people today don't know the precious experiences they're missing out on. When we were young, a boy courted a girl, trying hard to impress her and nowadays, there doesn't seem to be much of that going on. I remember dating a boy and feeling so shy and wondering if he might kiss me at the end of the night. You're right...times and morals HAVE changed so much.

  • @SherryAnn68 Yes and I bet you know whom to blame. The Hippy Baby boomer generation and the liberals too who do not look at spreading morals but only immoral propaganda that can get them all that fast money.

  • his name is Tyler

  • @klspratlin durden

  • @eurobum Most definetly...

  • @klspratlin He's not interested.
