if we legalize marijuana, we couldn't ONLY legalize marijuana. Do you understand how much of a double standard that would make you? it's like in high school, there were these kids who bashed everyone who smoked (cigarettes of pot, either one) and on the weekends they'd go out and drink enough to poison a medium sized dog. How can you say that one drug is less bad than others? i mean i get that heroin is a LOT different than pot but we'd also have to legalize shrooms, peyote and X probably
Good video, but it's '54 46 Was My Number' and this isn't Reggae, it's Ska, which is often mistaken with Reggae because of it's Jamaican roots. But yeah good one.
@tylerrossi46 this era is often also referred to as "roots reggae" while other might refer to it as the first wave of ska... whatever, it's good music.
@tylerrossi46 Actually there are two versions. The first version was released titled as 'That's My Number' and then the song was released again a year later titled 'Was My Number.'
@aidenmccloskey I recall seeing it come up both ways on a search and was wondering why. now i know thanks for the info Tylerrossi46 it is always good to learn something.
didn't look like pot bashing to me, but what do i know? im simply a nameless faceless entity on the internet. (if you want to be taken seriously, you shouldn't use vibes to describe how you feel about a song, you just sound like a hippie)
I heard 9.8 ounces makes a difference, i looked and expected to see a fat sack of weed, but sadly it was for the nikes or what ever shoe, damn ads.... legalization.
why do people feel the need to say legalize marijuana...... just cause your listening to reggae doesnt mean you gotta go all pro pot on everyone.... just smoke it and fit into society......
@farmersloven well i cant speak for anyone else but the reason i would like to see it legalized is so i do not have to fear being arrested for my responsible use of it. i think its absolutely ridiculous that we are bombarded with alcohol ads on tv all day but if someone wants to smoke a joint, they are a crimminal
@jmarshmellowman@jmarshmellowman i see your point, but the thing is... society wont change their views on marijuana easily especially when its been demonized in the media for so long and people ranting about yeah boi!! im sparking up a joint right now... because of a reggae song wont really help with decriminalisation of marijuana... more... it just makes pot smokers look like the stereotypical stoner...
@farmersloven Why do people feel the need to say 'legalise marijuana?' You do know what this song is about, don't you? Or maybe not. The song is about Toots' time in prison for an arrest for possession of marijuana. That is why people are saying 'legalise marijuana' - not because Reggae is associated with marijuana. Do your research.
@aidenmccloskey It's still annoying to hear people associating the 2 all of the time. Reggae doesn't need a crutch to be cool, it's badass on it's own.
@ItsSteveTre I see where you're coming from - however on this case, considering the meaning of the song, it's only right that people are allowed to discuss the subject and the issue the song is dealing with.
@farmersloven Um, this song is about being arrested (perhaps falsely) on marijuana charges. So it makes COMPLETE sense to say "legalise cannabis!" on this video.
You get a lot of thumb whores spreading non amusing jokes or rants about those who disliked the video, and in most cases the people doing that are assholes, but here, surely, is an exception. WHO could actually dislike this?? Maybe it doesn't get you going, but you cannot dislike this. It's like disliking smiles.
@ImPaula2504 haha how bout thumbs up if you did hear this song in this is england lol i think that movie is less popular then this song. but then again im from america where all my ignorant peers have never seen "this is england" but either way thumbs up if you didn;t know the words to this song till sublime did the cover lol!
total best you are correct, there are two version of the song, one with 54-46 'THATS' my number and then a later version of 'WAS' my number, which is the version everybody knows
This song IS NOT '54-46 That's my number.' There were two versions of this song, both about toots hibberts time in prison. @HardcoreClassics crack is purer?! Crack is the most addictive form of cocaine... people use baking soda to prepare crack.... mimicking the appearance of cocaine, added to increase bulk. Cocaine is purer..... der. what fuck are you talking about?!
@ReverenG You are right and wrong. You are correct in that crack is the most addictive form of cocaine. And you are correct that crack can be adulterated to bulk it up. But some of what you say is incorrect. For instance baking soda is part of the solution that when cooked with cocaine powder makes freebase. The baking powder helps to remove the impurities in the coke so that all that you have left is nearly pure cocaine. In essence, crack is freebase cocaine.
You use baking soda to wash it up, turning cocaine into into crack to remove the impurities and make it smokable. Not to bulk it up. But that's not how all crack is made.
