@Jawaronsen it is true what you say but how much of a bigger chance there is to actually get into the mess up here is not true... the criminals here are small pussys that don't have any brain to think with, the worst crime pulled here gotta be a fake robbery of 400.000 NOK. sure the population is violent but they are more decieving than anything... though i gotta agree with you on looks of the town...
Your information is somewhat wrong. Hammerfest wasnt a tiny fishing village, it was one of the largest fishing towns in this area. And the population was actualy higher before the melkøya project was started. The population wasnt dwindling like you make it sound :p
