@wiccanmoonman I understand where you are coming from and I respect that ( I actually have a Ford and it is fabulous / very reliable ) but I also like other makes , including Japanese and some German vehicles . I often think that VW s history goes right back to Hitler himself ( the badge on modern VWs is still the same ) , but some of them are very nice very good / well made vehicles and I cant help like them despite their history , etc.
Never mind the Transit connect in the US , do you guys in the US get the Mercedes Vito van? We have it here in UK ( and Europe ). It is fantastic small van ( a llittle bigger than Transit Connect )-if you dont know it. The Sprinter has really taken off in the US , I think the Mercedes Vito would sell like crazy over there ( without Dodge badging though please ). If you dont know / havent seen these vans check out Mercedes Vito.
Ford can charge whatever they want for this van in NA, as it has no direct competition, However in Europe these types of vans are highly popular and several car-makers carry these. If the sticker price was lower, this would/could be Ford's cash cow.
In Canada we watch or used to watch Formula One racing so some of us have been Euro car fans for years..always knowing that Euro vehicles would not be allowed in our little-itty bitty Country.
in europe, when we think of ford we think of: good handling, good price/quality and ok/good design, and reliability in the last decade has also been excellent. So yeah, a very sensible brand in europe
what matters is that Ford is looking the right direction now bringing successful vehicles from overseas. I personally like the Transit and agree that a diesel version would be nice. I would love to see diesel engines on their smaller trucks too.
The Sprinter is a Mercedes. It was sold as the Mercedes Benz Sprinter since 1995. Then in , during the Daimler Chrysler conglomeration, Daimler rebadged the Sprinter and sold it under the Freightliner and Dodge nameplates in 2001 and 2003, respectively.
It was introduced in the US under the Freightliner badge, then changed to Dodge. In my opinion, bringing the Sprinter van to the US was DaimlerChrysler's only success.

It's too expensive at 21 grand.
Most small biz will get a Ford Ranger 5 speed with a camper top for thousands less.
If this model was around $15K stripped with rubber floors it would be a good alternative to a Ranger.

All European cars are expensive.

its a lot cheaper here in europe.
iamthestig1 2 years ago 2
That's because the Transit Connect is shipped here from Turkey.

The Transit has been a huge success in Europe for a long time. Hopefully, it will be here, as well.
