Sounds like you're just terrible. If you can't win when you get zones, don't let them start. I'm a Honda player and my strategy against any character with a projectile is to not let them start zoning. If you let them start it is very hard to gain ground.

He didn't dash because you want to stay away from Honda. He didn't FADC because he didn't land a jump-in. He didn't cross up because you don't cross up Honda because of headbutt, sumo slam, and his godly AA s.hp.

This is how you're supposed to play the Honda matchup. Throw lots of fireballs and space him. Otherwise Honda wins. Honda still won, but that was because Daigo got impatient/predictable.

ryu is though LOL. The only weakness he has is the guy behind the controls. Which shouldnt be the case with a character that has everything(only thing hes missing is a command throw and a teleport). On top of that hes mind numbingly easy to use, add good knowledge and execution and ur not gonna lose alot. He really is diet sagat. Alittle less power but he makes up for it in speed and excessability.

His ultra is so fuckin easy to combo(his combos are easy in general and if ended in fireballs are safe on block), and his normals are way above average. If ryu really was balanced then how come hes 10 times better then ever other shoto in the game? THe hardest thing ryu players need to learn is fadc, which is STUPID fuckin easy. I main blanka/bison and i can pick ryu and do all the bullshit easily.

Well consider this. Why do the top players almost always main a high tier or have one as back up. A good example of this is mike ross that has been known to be a true blue honda player has gief and sagat as back ups .Alex valle is another one, he plays gouken alot but has ryu on stand by when he has a tough time. Yea the game is more balanced then games like marvel or 3s but after 20 years of fighting games capcom should have gotten down by now

I main blanka/bison and im learning akuma/abel right now and after playing akuma i can go to ryu and shit just gets too easy. akuma is great but 1 or 2 mistakes and ur dead but with ryu u can fuck up ALOT and still win. And im the guy that likes to do dps for real, i can make it even easier and just mash corners and get free reversals. I tested it with a friend, its retarded easy to mash dps and cancel ultra. Play him for a week and ull see what i mean LOL.

lol, ur balrog why would u have problems. But remember dmg scaling, thats why ryu/sagats 2-1 can match ur combos. Go to training mode and just do them for comparison. high fierce fierce dp with either ryu or sagat take about 25% bar.

go to training mode and do it. With sagat standing strong fierce dp and ryu fierce fierce, it does over 200 dmg. balrog has everything he needs. Easy combos, EASY ultra set and great normals. The only thing i hate about him is that the fucking jab beats everything and on characters without a solid reversal can be in trouble just with that alone, mind combos and ultra are easy to get off of the jab. I use messing with him the other day and the only combo i needed was low 2x jab short headbutt LOL
