  • I didn't realize how utterly awesome this show is when I was a kid :D I learned a shit ton from this guy I remember

  • Sumner Miller had a lengthy career in Australia, and is well known to children, now adults, for his Cadbury ads where he did quick experiments... the current Julius Sumner Miller Fellowship at Sydney University is a sceince communication role, continuing his work to bring science to wide audiences...

  • i learned so much from this guy .. even crafted some of his ideas or experiments.. of course they worked.. as in the show... great stuff.

  • i used to watch the professor with amazement as a kid.....

  • That fur is from a cat.

  • Simply The BEST!!! I truly wish children had this type of programing today instead of the JUNK that gets programmed into their brains. Thank you Prof. Julius God bless you sir...(although you frightened me as a child watching you shows on PBS lol)

  • Of all the segments on this show , his was my favorites .

  • My all time favourite physics prof!! I loved this guy, and when I was studying physics later in University I would imagine that he was there teaching!!

  • amazing, wish he was my professor. We need more people like this in the educational system.

  • I remember when I was a tiny kid and after watching Julius, I always felt proud of myself because I felt so smart afterwards. The man was BRILLIANT!

RIP Julius and thanks for the memories!

  • my biology teacher was bill schubert at girard high school in the mi eighties. he was as excited about making our minds excited about biology as julius was about physics. the best teacher i ever had, he made me want to learn, he made it as fascinating to me as it was to him.

  • I wish I had a teacher like Julius Sumner Miller when I was in school.

  • this was the best show when i was a kid

  • Amazing man & mind to grow with.

  • this guy is just the best. every teacher could learn a thing or two from this guy.

  • @deprogramr its a sad thing that this man passed away years ago

  • OMG I remember the professor, but I had completely forgotten that simple picture and sound at the introduction.

A 100 memories of House of Frightenstein just came back to me.

That's amazing that Julius was a student of Einsteins.

The knowledge and fun inside Billy, Julius, Fishka...... that was made in a basement.

I remember asking my dad with the seriousness of a 5 year old, "Dad, can we go there? It's a real castle.

It's neat to see that it's still on somewhere

  • This is on Space in Ontario, Canada weekdays at 6:00am I think.

  • Yes this did air on a Cleveland tv station. I am not sure which station. I am glad I finally found some clips of the show, thanks for posting them.

  • WUAB Channel 43, either before or after Superhost :)

  • I knew I'd seen it before. Thanks. I used to love Superhost on Saturday mornings.

  • This dude is my favorite in the show...he always does such crazy stuff and shows you how to do it. I want this show on dvd....that would be awesome!

  • Did you know that this guy was an actual professor who worked with Einstein in real life.

  • That's awesome man. I always love when he does his bit in the show....its not funny, its not cheesy and stuff like the rest...but its very informative and interesting and i love watching him! If he was ever teaching at a school he would have made me wanted to go to class and learn. Teachers nowadays are shit and just want to be payed. They could care less about their students. Anyway...long live the professer!!!

  • This was a great show. It had a very low budget and is often laughed at as one of Canada's worst TV shows ever made......However, in my opinion it is one of the most clever ingenious shows ever made for Canadian Televison. This show is in the "CULT" classification with its dedicated followers (including me).

To me, the show is simple and yet it is brilliant. It is a comfort show that gives you a great sense of peace and enjoyment. Personaly for me this show is one of my top 10 favorites.

  • Yeah man....this is probably my favorite show. I get up at 6 in the morning to watch it and then go back to sleep. I love the professor a lot...he reminds me of a really cool science teacher i hate in grade....she was nuts! Did i kinds of crazy stuff like this and made class fun, and made you understand things. She even kind of looked like this guy hehe. Hail frightenstein! I hope to be getting this on dvd soon :)

  • Also i would like to say this was filmed in hamilton in a basement. I live in burlington the city right beside it. Its about a 20 min. drive away from me :D

  • LOL,,,I think that is a myth cause the official statement is that the entire show was filmed at the studios of CHCH Channel 11 in Hamilton, Ontario over a period of 9-12 months. It was shot completely out of sequence spending 3 weeks filming each character. For instance Vincent Price did all his material over a 4 day period. He did over 400 bits for only $13,000. All the scenes shot were then spliced into 130 one hour long shows.

  • @videocircus funny that this is said to be one of the worst when it is no less than a gem in a pile of canadian tv rubbish.

  • @FlippyMcDoodoo

Come and join the official HHOF facebook group that I am an administrtor in.

Some of Billy Van's family members are part of the group.

  • @videocircus I agree totally!

  • @videocircus budget doesn't matter when the final product is entertaining .

  • I laughed when he mentioned his rubber rod. I seem to remember watching this show as a child. Did any Cleveland, Ohio, channels ever show this?

  • I read on the web that he was actually a student of Albert Einstein !

  • Yes he was indeed. A great show which gets so much horrible review. I own The Entire first season on DVD, which is all that has ever been released unfortunately.

In reality,,despite the shows low budget and dismal reviews....The show was complete Genius! The show became a cult classic for a reason and this people must not overlook.

  • Very clever show this was and how it taught kids in a special way not like today's crap.

  • This guy was so entertaining and made you think at the same time. I wonder what the heck ever drew he and Vincent Price up to Canada?

  • Probably the same thing that draws anyone to Canada.

  • This was such an excellent show, and the segments with Professor Julius Sumner Miller were some of my favourites.

  • He passed away in 87 of lukemia. During college, I remember getting into a long discussion with my physics professor about Sumner Miller. We spent one whole class just talking about his experiments.

  • They all passed away shame really was such a good show, very clever teaching for children in those days.

  • This was my favourite part of the show.

  • Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, cats and dogs and people... in a family of seven everyone knew this was my t.v. time. The professor has a passion seldom seen. Thanks for sharing!

  • Kids from 4 to 94 would benefit if all teachers were this excited about their profession.

  • There are no such thing as teachers today they're all money grabbing hocks and the kids well they cannot be taught any more too crazy!

  • Well I'm 22 and I've considered my years in primary school, high school, Tafe and university to be well spent, and with two younger brothers who are still in high school and a mother who's career is in teaching (principle of a primary school) I have to disagree. However I am from Australia so maybe things are better over here.

  • Yes I agree with you, what a lovely place to be, Aussies are wonderful people you are very blessed to be there. Education in the states is very bad sorry guys, but it's true, if you can't face the truth then I am sorry once again. 22 yrs old? You sound very mature for your age, God Bless xx

  • he was truly a smart man, i watched this show religiousley, and this part is what i really waited for

  • awesome clip, i love this show, especially this segment.

  • wow i watched this very episod i remember playing around with electo static afterwards thanks!

  • Julius Sumner Miller!!! Is this where he got his start before his regular show?

  • No. He started on the syndicated Steve Allen show in the 1960s. He also did shows that wound up on PBS. Heaven knows he got on this show.

  • Hey, Thanks for the information!

  • Look up HHoF on Wikipedia for a fun story about how Prof. Miller came to Canada to film these segments!

  • i have been looking for some julius sumner miller, an icon in physics!!!!
