Carl, my brother in soul and my friend, I missed you so much since you left the earth in 1996. Now I know you fly in the cosmos like the birds in the sky, exploring and discovering new worlds, new minds; but, after some time, please come back to the earth, teach again in one university, and make a new Cosmos Series update.
When my little 4 month old son can't sleep we sneak into the living room in the middle of the early morning and put on the Cosmos DVD and he is usually lulled off by the music and Carl Sagan's voice. I hope he grows up to enjoy watching the series the way I did when I was a kid. It's a wonderful example of how TV can be a powerful instrument of learning instead of a conduit for moronic shite.
"I'd defo say its patronizing in the extreme to act like its wrong to destroy quaint traditional civilizations (full of disease, famine, ignorance, death, etc)"
What a quote. With opinions like that we'll be back in our nuclear bunkers in the next ten to fifteen years. By the way, that's kinda how "quaint traditional civilizations" were "destroyed" - by Disease (brought by Europeans) Famine (inflicted by Europeans) Ignorance (brought by Europeans) and Death (issued out by Europeans)
A little obsessed with the we're destroying ourselves angle, then again with the way we treat this place...
I'd defo say its patronizing in the extreme to act like its wrong to destroy quaint traditional civilizations (full of disease, famine, ignorance, death, etc) what the spaniards did was evil not because they ended a civilisation (That certainly wasn't equal to europes, it was stone age w/o wheels) its how they ended it and why, with bloodshed for slavery and exploitaton .
@unassumption You have to remember that this was made during the cold war when people really were scared that we were going to destroy ourselves utterly
He is truly inspiring and I believe the world would be a different, better, place if more could find his message. As a non-native english speaker I find his voice and accent soothing.
Sagan is awesome and was real creative mind and i love hearing most of what he says about things but damn his voice is kinda annoying the way he talks, that sucks
Great words, truly.

The depiction of the raven god at 4:22 is AWESOME!
Would history have been different had the Conquistadors not massacred the Aztec? Maybe. :/

Well I love his voice, but you might want to make your way over to the Agent Smith parody if you haven't already.

I'm not a fan of his accent, but his voice is strangely soothing.

I thought I liked him back in the 80s, but watching these now makes me miss Mr. Sagan very much. He was very important to our world.
