I would say XP because I like it better, and there is more user made materials out there compared to VX right now.

2000 or 2003 are better if you want to create better features and systems though, because there is much more variety with event scripting. With XP and VX, you need to use Ruby to get a lot of these commands.

yes but if you know your way around ruby and how it's used in rmxp, you can script custom systems with it way faster then you could by messing around with events.

Ok i need help...I got sprites that i made and stuf like link and a big dragon creature but when i use them the are in a white or black box. How do i fix this.(rmxp)

I know how to fix it, i hgad the exact same problem, you have to make the transperent color the same as the color behind your characters on the sprite sheet, So lets say the color behind your characters on the sheet is pink, your going to left click and right click on the pink area behind your character to make that transparent..and your set..but you probably figured that out by now.

would be nice if more resource creators used alpha transparency. the png format that rmxp supports allows you to save transparent colors to the file, allowing you to have partial transparency at a whole range of levels. the best thing is they import into rmxp right away, no clicking on colors.
