Arise, ye Russian people, to glorious battle, to a battle to the death: arise, ye free people, to defend our beloved country! All honour to the warriors who live, and eternal glory to those slain! For our native home, our Russian land, arise, ye Russian people! In our native Russia, our great Russia, no enemy shall remain. Arise, to arms, native mother Russia!
Can someone please tell me the difference between "Rossiya" and "Russiya"? I never understood exactly the difference and never found someone to make it clear.
Никого не хотел обидеть - наверное просто мой английский не очень хорош - видишь, я даже не с первого раза это смог написать. Безобидный, в общем то вопрос-ответ.
Russian tsars considered Russia as a sucessor of the Byzantium Empire after its fall, and Moscow was called "The Third Rome" (after Rome and Constantinople). Therefore Rus' began to name in a Greek way - Rossiya.
Actually, I never understood why some Russians consider its country as the "3rd Rome", because Rome was a completely dirty city full of thieves at dark streets, only a few "patricians" houses were well iluminated.
Pederasty was common among Romans, specially between lords and slaves and everything got close to changes when J. Cesar became dictator and tried to aproximate the government from popular masses, reason for that he was assassinated.

The enemy shall not march through Russia,
its regiments shall not stay on Russian soul,

" Rus' " - is old name of Russia - before XV century.
"Rossiya" - Russians call Russia by this pronunciation.
It is as "Suomi" and "Finland".
"Russiya" - is wrong word.
