@gerardjunky u donate ur heart when you DIE and they put the heart in a machine to make it pump again... U dont really need your heart, you need your brain. The doctors can just put the heart in a machine and it beats again, but a brain, the brain is a one time thing... Cant put it in a machine
a person cannot die just by seeing if their heart is stoped istead we look to the brain to see if is alive if it is then the person is "alive" heart can be supported by machine but brain can't
That is incredible, but as with anything that saves lives, only the rich will be able to afford this technology. Others won't be able to take advantages of the more positive outcomes this technology offers.
i am only 16 years old, and i am very interested in the heart surgery and medical attentions. I do lots of research on this sort of thing, but this is the most interesting thing I've seen in awhile. Good job to the doctor's whom has discovered this medical break threw.
Isn't being pronounced dead when there is no heart beat? Having a beating heart has would be taken from a healthy alive heart, it seems like they just took it from a living person not dead. Some pagans would take a victim cut them open and take their heart. This reminds me of them.
@starlight1946 there are multiple ways to pronounce someone dead. Most often in the case of organ donation, a person is declared "brain dead" where there is no function of the brain, but the body is still functioning on life support. Another way is to take the body off life support and let the person "die", then revive the body through a code.
The heart has its own electrical impulses and hence even 'after removed from the body/death', it continues to beat as long as it has adequate supply of oxygen. Don't show ignorance. Learn some science.
@starlight1946 Thats wrong. PAGANS are peaceful. They worship nature. If they do anything like that, then they are not pagans. They are satanists. There IS a difference, you know.
as amazing as this is, its a good thing im sitting down lol got a little queezy, if i were there in person id drop to my knees but still cant help but look at it.
i think when we die we should all give our body parts to medical research until ofcourse when we can perform stem cell procedures but until then i think we should all be donating when we die
Nope, didn't you know that the heart is equipped with its own time base, the sinoatrial node, which is working well even outside the body as long the blood gases, electrolyte balance, blood sugar and other physiological chemistry are artificially maintained.
who is dumb enough to donate their heart, they kinda need it. besides if they get it from someone that died, the heart is dead, so that doesnt make sense...
Lol....you dont donate your heart when youre living, you donate it after you die. And there are ways too keep organs alive after people die so that they can give them to other people who need them.
The only thing of you which is at first and irreversible really dead is the brain and thereof especially the consciousness of yourself, because of the exceedingly immense complexity of its physiology.
All other tissues and processes of the body are able to survive the brain, inevitable hypoxia and accruing electrolytic imbalance for not less than 15 minutes up to several hours, even without medical assistance, at least partially.
Medicine can just help to optimize the survival and to minimize the involving increasing damages to allow its untained function inside another body with alive brain.
Without these facts no reanimation nor transplantation would ever be possible.
No body of the alive nature dies suddenly entirely all at once. Dying is also a (shorter) procedure like procreation. Yet you can't witness because of the lack of consciousness as one of the still very first steps on way to death of the entire body.
Wow, with this technology they can keep the hearts for a longer time because they are beating just like inside the body so when the heart is working its tissue doesn't die so it can be taken to longer distances for transplanting it to another human in a hospital far away... Wonders of today's technology, amazing, simply amazing..............................................."-"

though there are some religions who find that sacrilege. i personally think you are right, but some people would be offended by the idea.

@jasonjapi Takes no more than a small thump on the heart with a finger. Heart starts up all on it's own!
Pretty cool to see, actually.

Firstly -- there could be found people "dumb" enough ...
Secondly -- you talk rubbish.
It seems you have no clue about organ transplantation or even biology.
