When you go into the m1530 BIOS do you have an option to change the multiplier on the X9000 for overclocking? The XPS m1730 BIOS supports overclocking the X9000 up to 3.2GHz. I'm curious if the m1530 BIOS enables this option with an X9000 installed.
I have an m1530 with the T9300, and if I could get an X9000 for the right price and OC it to around 3GHz I may just keep it for a while before buying a new laptop.
Its pointless to say "Still SLOW" like an ignorant jackass. He has a great setup. Computers are not all about booting up lightning fast. He probably hasnt even tweaked the services on that computer and its still got a good boot time.
i was thinking to upgrade my m1530 cpu to x9000, i heard that compatible but theres heat problem under load and the highest cpu that i can get is the T9500 @ 2.6ghz 6mb because the thermal design is 44w on the x9000 and 35w on T9500 or any cpu that dell offers i upgraded ram and hdd but now i want to upgrade my cpu but want to make sure thats work well under load i bought m1530 for work, school and games but not high-end gaming only old games if u had no problem would be great. thanks
Hi there m8, tnx for asking... well i¨ve had no heat problem, in fact, my x9000 was a little cooler than my t9300 was. Thaht may depend on th thermal paste i used to the x9000, coz the thermal paste dell used on the t9300 was horrible. But thats just a thougt. i´ll try to find my "prt sc" pictures so you can see how warm and cold the cpu was. I also think i was lucky enough to get a wery good example of the x9000.
@jimiliborah What happens if you don't apply thermal paste on the new cpu when you put it in your laptop? I currently have a Dell XPS M1530 as well and if i were to remove the Core 2 Duo and put the Core 2 Extreme in without applying thermal paste, what's the worst that could happen? Thanks!
"shut the fuck up and get your facts straight before opening your mouth again."
i agree with you jim, there is a lot of ignorance here at youtube... its up to us to set it straight :D
by the by, nice laptop!!! i have the 2.6 version, altho i was thinking on getting the extreme 2.8, the only thing holding me back is the heat... and the cost :D
( and yes, the xps m1530 can handle ddr2, intel extreme, and some other nice stuff)
one more thing, this guy is obviously a noob, he states that he has a core2 extreme but does not display the ghz, he states he has DDR2 ram but not the type. He is made of fail, good job paying waaayyyyy too much for something you can't upgrade anyway.
fuck of you wanker.... i dont give a fuck if you bought a regular pc for half the price... when i bought this one i also bought an core 2 extreme from a friend of mine who sell those and insalled it in my dell. shut the fuck up and get your facts straigt before opening yor mouth again.
Ohh.. and another thing, PLEASE visit dells homepage and have a look, and you´ll see taht EVERY m1530 usues DDR2!!! Get a life! I know you just doing this coz you could not buy one yourself...
bottom line is this, I built my own computer, it has a regular core2 duo 2.53ghz cpu, 4gb of PC6400 DDR2 ram and for the next month an Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT gpu, IT LOADS FASTER THAN THAT LAPTOP, And I guarantee I paid way less. Only noobs with no computer knowlege buy premade computers. THAT IS FACT!
just bought one xps1530. cost me 1860 dollars... loll.. though it makes sense.. i upgraded my laptop to best quality feature.. feels great to see my laptop will look like this ..thanks for the video
In a few days i will get a compal IFL-91 with Core2Duo T9300 4GB of RAM,320GB Harddisk and 8600M GT videocard i hope that in the future i can upgrade to a core 2 extreme processor !
Hey i have one question.........can u upgrade the gpu on this i understand it comes with a 8600 M GT or a 8400M gs....so i wsa wondering if can get mine with a 9600 M??
how did you get a core 2 extreme X9000? I just bought this laptop myself and the best they offered me was Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9500 (2.6GHz/800Mhz FSB, 6MB Cache)
wow, thats pretty slow for a comp with that specs, my comps specs are: core 2 duo 2.2 GHz, 2 Gb DDR2 ram 533 mhz, geforce 7600 GT, and vista home premum, and it starts up in 56 secs with noron anti vurus opening, sidebar, and also yahoo messenger, and after it starts up is runs fast
True, BUT cpu and ram only affects boot time up to a limit, wich in this case is the harddrive. If i hade a faster hdd, it would boot MUCH faster. So, if i was to buy a mTron PRO Solid State Disk, about 10 times faster than my current you would be able to see a huge difference, coz the hdd would not be the slowest point any more. Do you have the 7200 rpm as your HDD??
On the other hand, in desktoping, mine is quite a bit faster than yours on evertything. :-)
If you read the comments below, you will see that i have bought the core 2 x9000 cpu from a friend in United Kingdom and replaced the stock t9300 with the x9000.
i payed 14.000 swedish kronor wich is about 1.500 euro... its a lot of money, but i wanted a combination of the best looking 15,4 laptop and a wery good performer as well as next buissnes day warranty wich i think only dell offers.
my goodness thats such a nice laptop, fully loaded everything, but the thing thats missing is the graphics cards, the 8600 is nice but it seems like its the only one thats not crazy. like i mean teh core 2 extreme.. good, 4gb, good.. blu ray. good, everythigns good but i guess dell doesn't offer like 8800's on that xps model, but im pretty sure they do on the xps gaming laptops, but anyways, really good laptop. =]

I read through your the comments and know how you got the Core 2 Extreme. My main questions are:
1) How difficult is it to replace the CPU? I am thinking about doing it with my XPS at some point in the future as I have a T8300 2.4GHz as of now.
2) How does the battery life compare to that of the stock processor (I know you listed the times, but I wanted to get an idea of the difference)
3) Where did you get 800MHz RAM? and how much did it cost?
Thanks, and that's an awesome computer :)
donthate08ter 3 years ago
1. Its very easy, but i can make a slideshow with pics if you want to and put up on youtube wich explains how to do it..
2. Since this cpu uses less power than yours, battery liftime will be longer or at least the same.
3. I got my ADATA 800 mhz ram from ebay actually, payed like 60 euro with insured shipping from USA.
BUT... the motherboard does NOT support 800 mhz memoryspeeds, so it will only operate in 667 mhz, just so you know
