  • When you go into the m1530 BIOS do you have an option to change the multiplier on the X9000 for overclocking? The XPS m1730 BIOS supports overclocking the X9000 up to 3.2GHz. I'm curious if the m1530 BIOS enables this option with an X9000 installed.

I have an m1530 with the T9300, and if I could get an X9000 for the right price and OC it to around 3GHz I may just keep it for a while before buying a new laptop.

  • i have the same laptop - 3 years, it started up in 12 seconds one the first day, now it takes 5 minutes 3 years later, mine is high end....

  • that is slow and the computer is NOT high end

  • my laptop boots that fast and it even has to boot up the camera bc it logs in with a visual or a password

  • if i change the cpu that mean i must change my mobo right

  • run memory ddr800??

  • background comes wit vista ultimate only, but can be dowloaded if needed.

  • slows,mine boots up faster @ core 2 quad 2.40Ghz

  • Its pointless to say "Still SLOW" like an ignorant jackass. He has a great setup. Computers are not all about booting up lightning fast. He probably hasnt even tweaked the services on that computer and its still got a good boot time.

  • Still SLOW

  • how dld u get mobile cpu? where did u buy it? did u upgrade it yourself?

  • I have same xps. T5850, 4 gigs, 8600m GT. My question: Could I upgrade to a T9300 without overheating my laptop?

  • Where did you get that CPU from?!

  • I love your background.... where did you get that from????

Can i Download it for my computer??

  • I think that's one of the ones that comes with Vista, so if you have Vista, you should already have it on your computer.

  • that background does not come with vista

  • Oh... I thought it was. Whatever. That is a nice background, though!

  • My fucking hard drive failed.

    Good job, Dell.

  • man i have the same laptop and i want to upgrade the cpu. It is posible that i cn upgrade it from my poor t5750 (2.0ghz/fsb 667

    /65nm/merom)to the same you use ( i have intel pm965 chipset ).

And you upgrade it yourself or with professional help??

    please responde me soon

    thanks :)

  • Hi,

I have a lower end model xps m1530, im upgrading the ram from 2GB to 4GB, can i upgrade the processor easily? its currently a core 2 duo 2.0GHZ

  • yes u can but dont buy it on dell

  • i have OCZ Freeze as thermal compound i just wanna know if x9000 will survive underload for hours

  • i was thinking to upgrade my m1530 cpu to x9000, i heard that compatible but theres heat problem under load and the highest cpu that i can get is the T9500 @ 2.6ghz 6mb because the thermal design is 44w on the x9000 and 35w on T9500 or any cpu that dell offers i upgraded ram and hdd but now i want to upgrade my cpu but want to make sure thats work well under load i bought m1530 for work, school and games but not high-end gaming only old games if u had no problem would be great. thanks

  • Hi there m8, tnx for asking... well i¨ve had no heat problem, in fact, my x9000 was a little cooler than my t9300 was. Thaht may depend on th thermal paste i used to the x9000, coz the thermal paste dell used on the t9300 was horrible. But thats just a thougt. i´ll try to find my "prt sc" pictures so you can see how warm and cold the cpu was. I also think i was lucky enough to get a wery good example of the x9000.

  • thanks! u can PM me if u want

  • did you upgrade your CPU??

  • @jimiliborah What happens if you don't apply thermal paste on the new cpu when you put it in your laptop? I currently have a Dell XPS M1530 as well and if i were to remove the Core 2 Duo and put the Core 2 Extreme in without applying thermal paste, what's the worst that could happen? Thanks!

  • "shut the fuck up and get your facts straight before opening your mouth again."

i agree with you jim, there is a lot of ignorance here at youtube... its up to us to set it straight :D

by the by, nice laptop!!! i have the 2.6 version, altho i was thinking on getting the extreme 2.8, the only thing holding me back is the heat... and the cost :D

( and yes, the xps m1530 can handle ddr2, intel extreme, and some other nice stuff)

  • one more thing, this guy is obviously a noob, he states that he has a core2 extreme but does not display the ghz, he states he has DDR2 ram but not the type. He is made of fail, good job paying waaayyyyy too much for something you can't upgrade anyway.

  • fuck of you wanker.... i dont give a fuck if you bought a regular pc for half the price... when i bought this one i also bought an core 2 extreme from a friend of mine who sell those and insalled it in my dell. shut the fuck up and get your facts straigt before opening yor mouth again.

  • Ohh.. and another thing, PLEASE visit dells homepage and have a look, and you´ll see taht EVERY m1530 usues DDR2!!! Get a life! I know you just doing this coz you could not buy one yourself...

  • bottom line is this, I built my own computer, it has a regular core2 duo 2.53ghz cpu, 4gb of PC6400 DDR2 ram and for the next month an Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT gpu, IT LOADS FASTER THAN THAT LAPTOP, And I guarantee I paid way less. Only noobs with no computer knowlege buy premade computers. THAT IS FACT!

  • well.. have a look around on the internet, please use google... (if you know what google is) ..my core 2 extreme eats you cpu for breakfast.... LOL

  • Wow you seem rich with the bluray and vista ultimate upgrade and 7200 rpm hard disk.

  • you are usin a Canon sp-x style 9800-sx cam to record this video.

    Just kidding

  • just bought one xps1530. cost me 1860 dollars... loll.. though it makes sense.. i upgraded my laptop to best quality feature.. feels great to see my laptop will look like this ..thanks for the video

  • what was your computer raiting?

  • Mjne is 9.0 but I got the most expencive configuration

  • nice computer, it started up quite quickly and you started using it straight away. nice vid, thanks

  • im thinking of buying the xps. but that wallpaper is sweet. does it come with the computer?

  • In a few days i will get a compal IFL-91 with Core2Duo T9300 4GB of RAM,320GB Harddisk and 8600M GT videocard i hope that in the future i can upgrade to a core 2 extreme processor !

  • They didn't offer the Core 2 EXTREME X9000 cpu when I built mine.........Dammit!

  • They don't, he lied

  • he didnt lie u dumbass its called buying it on your own and installing it on your own havent u heard of upgrading, fucking retard

  • You can't take out and install you own cpu for a laptop, you the fucking retard asshole. A core 2 Extreme x9000 is not offered by dell on the m1530.

  • u dumbass, the laptop has a p965 motherboard which supports the x9000 look it up dumbass, thats how i upgraded my gateway p6860

  • A core 2 Extreme x9000 most likely wouldn't fit in the laptop, and good going on making yourself look like an asshole Feder147.

  • not high end med core

  • does ur webcam blue light flash wen turning it on?

  • yeah ^^

  • Hey i have one question.........can u upgrade the gpu on this i understand it comes with a 8600 M GT or a 8400M gs....so i wsa wondering if can get mine with a 9600 M??

  • fuck that shit is fast............

  • Sick laptop. Much props. How much did the system cost overall? and how much heat does the GPU generate?

  • What is your 3DMark06 and PCMark05 score??

  • dudes..can you please let me know which dremescene is it?

I cant find that same waterfall dremescene!!

  • my laptop is faster

  • my penis is bigger

  • lolz

  • hahha funniest thing all day

  • @sepiasilence and yet your brain is still non existent....

  • @sleepyboyproduction it was a joke and that post is over 2 years old, prick

  • @sepiasilence age means nothing, 6 year old.

  • @sleepyboyproduction what do you mean 6 year old, it was a joke about another users boastful comment, fuck off x

  • ...and loving the irony in your comment, you sure are a smart one!

  • i have ultimate. where is that dreamscene wallpaper. where doi find it. I have a xps m1530 as well. awesome laptop

  • Well guys i have bougt a NEW xps m1530.... a little bit better, a product red with a full HD screen 1920x1200.

If anyone wants to.. i can put up a video of that one to... that one has vista ultimate x32

  • yes please and thank you

  • yes please it would be great to see how the full hd screen looks!

  • I read through your the comments and know how you got the Core 2 Extreme. My main questions are:

    1) How difficult is it to replace the CPU? I am thinking about doing it with my XPS at some point in the future as I have a T8300 2.4GHz as of now.

    2) How does the battery life compare to that of the stock processor (I know you listed the times, but I wanted to get an idea of the difference)

    3) Where did you get 800MHz RAM? and how much did it cost?

Thanks, and that's an awesome computer :)

  • 1. Its very easy, but i can make a slideshow with pics if you want to and put up on youtube wich explains how to do it..

    2. Since this cpu uses less power than yours, battery liftime will be longer or at least the same.

    3. I got my ADATA 800 mhz ram from ebay actually, payed like 60 euro with insured shipping from USA.

BUT... the motherboard does NOT support 800 mhz memoryspeeds, so it will only operate in 667 mhz, just so you know

  • that flowing back drop can really slow your computer down

  • I know... when i turn it of, it boots a little faster

  • that was pretty darn fast

  • well.. it boots eaven faster with Intel Turbo Memmory!!

  • Wow! Amazing I want your comp!!

  • Nice..... wish you could get XP on m1530

  • how'd you get the core extreme on it???!!!

  • Bought it from a friend of mine wich sell those...

  • dude whats the vista rating there again?

  • Base score is 5,1 wich is based on the lowest score.

    Cpu is 5,6

    Memory is 5,1

    Graphics is 5,9

    Gaming Grapichs is 5,4

    Primary Hard drive is 5,3

  • Core extreme on an M1530?!

  • yes...

  • When did you buy your unit? Because now I think the best processor for the M1530 that they offer is the 2.6Ghz C2D

  • Bought my unit 2 months ago, but came from dell with core 2 T9300 cpu.

Later on i bought the x9000 cpu from one of my friends from uk.

  • you could shave in that screen! talk about glossy... still, i'm getting one..

  • You can custom order the screen to your liking. I like the glossy one.

  • not saying it's a bad thing. Anyway, my screen is going to be glossy. Nothing wrong with glossy!

  • Hello.

Where did you get that moving Wallpaper? just ordered my Dell XPS M1530, and it would be awesome with that one in the background :P

  • As i said before, it comes with windows vista ULTIMATE, as one of the functions or extras so to speak.

  • hey where did you get the moving wallpaper from on your desktop?

  • cheers no worrys

  • could you make a video with it playing a few games like crysis and cod4 to so the power of the pc ?

  • Sorry m8, no can do. Have neither of those games, and i wont buy them coz i newer play games.

  • wow so much on a laptop, but if i had that much i would do the same!!

  • Well.... i got 2 of them.. wife´s red and mine is black. ;-)

  • how much did that cost you?!!!?

  • about 1500 euro or 14173 swedish kronor..

  • how did you get a core 2 extreme X9000? I just bought this laptop myself and the best they offered me was Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9500 (2.6GHz/800Mhz FSB, 6MB Cache)

  • I bought it from a friend of mine, he has a company wich sell those cpu:s. And i got a really nice price as well.

  • wher did u get that video for dreamscene?

  • you get it with ultimate extras wich is a part of vista ultimate ONLY

  • wow, thats pretty slow for a comp with that specs, my comps specs are: core 2 duo 2.2 GHz, 2 Gb DDR2 ram 533 mhz, geforce 7600 GT, and vista home premum, and it starts up in 56 secs with noron anti vurus opening, sidebar, and also yahoo messenger, and after it starts up is runs fast

  • well.. i dont have home premium.. ivé got ULTIMATE, much more to load!

  • ya good point, but look at your specs, you have 2 times more ram as me, and also your processor is like $1000 more expenxive than mine......

  • True, BUT cpu and ram only affects boot time up to a limit, wich in this case is the harddrive. If i hade a faster hdd, it would boot MUCH faster. So, if i was to buy a mTron PRO Solid State Disk, about 10 times faster than my current you would be able to see a huge difference, coz the hdd would not be the slowest point any more. Do you have the 7200 rpm as your HDD??

On the other hand, in desktoping, mine is quite a bit faster than yours on evertything. :-)

  • no, my HDD runs at 5400 RPM

  • sold the t9300 yet? i have the same laptop with a T7500.....get in contact if you wanna sell the T9300!

  • hi !

how can you get a DELL 1530 with X9000 CPU ? It's not in their offer on the website !!!

I just want a X9000 15inches notebook, and only Alienware propose it ! So, i think you might tweak/cheat the video...

  • If you read the comments below, you will see that i have bought the core 2 x9000 cpu from a friend in United Kingdom and replaced the stock t9300 with the x9000.

Its not anything else than that

  • Nice i want one how much was it

  • i payed 14.000 swedish kronor wich is about 1.500 euro... its a lot of money, but i wanted a combination of the best looking 15,4 laptop and a wery good performer as well as next buissnes day warranty wich i think only dell offers.

  • my goodness thats such a nice laptop, fully loaded everything, but the thing thats missing is the graphics cards, the 8600 is nice but it seems like its the only one thats not crazy. like i mean teh core 2 extreme.. good, 4gb, good.. blu ray. good, everythigns good but i guess dell doesn't offer like 8800's on that xps model, but im pretty sure they do on the xps gaming laptops, but anyways, really good laptop. =]

  • Maybe he didn't want the next video card up

  • hmm, thats true :O

  • I know that the graphics card is not the best, but i newer play any games on my laptop, if i want to play i´ll use the playstation 3 ;-).

Dell dosent have any faster singelcard for the xps m1530 either....

  • How did u get the X9000 CPU cause i went to the site and its not an option. Did u upgrade yourself?

  • yes i upgraded myself, from the factory it came with core 2 T9300 only.'

Bought the x9000 from a friend in great britain, coz he sells them and i got a weeery good price

  • very good price...britain...back of a lorry.

  • Cooler than T9300??? It's 35 watts (T9300)against 44 watts(X9000). How can this be??? Can you tell me core temperature in iddle and in full? I have a M1530, but I'm concerned about upgrading processor... Thanks!

  • Yes, but its probobly becouse of the cooling paste dell put in, i changed that to artic silver paste.

Idle or just surfing the temp is:

Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo X9000 hardware monitor

    Temperature sensor 0 44°C (111°F) [0x3D] (core #0)

    Temperature sensor 1 44°C (111°F) [0x3D] (core #1)

    Full load its:

Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 hardware monitor

    Temperature sensor 0 54°C (129°F) [0x33] (core #0)

    Temperature sensor 1 54°C (129°F) [0x33] (core #1)

  • Did you change the stock processor? Does your M1530 have overheating problems? Thanks

  • No, ... no overheating problems, this is actually cooler than my wifes xps m1530 with t9300 processor!

  • and what about the fingerprint reader?

  • What are the specs on this?

  • Core 2 EXTREME X9000 cpu 4 GB ddr2 800 Hitachi 200GB 7200rpm nVidia 8600GT 256MB Blu-Ray Fingerprint Reader Dell remote 6-cell Battery WSXGA+ 1680x1050 With TRUELIFE Tuxedo Black W-lan Draft-N Bluetooth Stereo Headset Windows Vista Ultimate x64 WITH SP1! Eset Nod32 System Security 3.0
  • What is your battery life?

  • Battery life is approx 2,5 hours when surfing wireless and listen to music set to performance. 1,5-2 hours when watching a movie and also set to performance.

All this with a 6 cell battery
