Im a a7x fan as well as a drummer. What i realize by seeing all these comment criticizing and make sort of a comparison between Mike and Rev is that: You're just loud fans that want to show how you know the band since their beginning.. Honestly, the drums TheRev used to play were absolutely awesome..but Avenged Sevenfold never sounded that great as this last record with Mike, whose drumming level are beyond most drummers personal touch.

He pretty much grew up with Matt and was great friends with the rest of the band. And, aren't the majority of great artists (of any type- not just in music) most recognized when they're dead? He was a great drummer long before he died and deserved credit but didn't get it until he died. The rev also wrote a lot of a7x's lyrics as well. I'd put him in my top 20 easily, great drummer and musician, but he's no mike portnoy. For me musically, I miss the rev much more than cobain. Alice in chains>nirvana anyway

@TimeWolf26 Mike may be a better drummer, but I don't think he fits in with the rest of Avenged Sevenfold as well as the Rev did. He pretty much grew up with Matt and was great friends with the rest of the band. And, aren't the majority of great artists (of any type- not just in music) most recognized when they're dead? I mean, there's the Rev and Cobain, as you said, then Michael Jackson, and countless writers and painters. That happens when people die. Never know what you had until it's gone.

I think Petrucci is worlds better but u PERSONALLY prefer sen, I'll respect ur opinion. I like a7x and concede that no drummer can make them better than when they had rev, but at LEAST admit that it was Portnoy (and others) that influenced rev to become the fantastic drummer he was. Not better, still amazing.
