I don't use this for headphones because it'll eventually ruin the shit out of it. I do use this method for controllers and it completely got rid of the tangle mess in the box of cables i have.. i dont have a bunch of twist ties..
This isn't actually very good for the cables. Ideally you'd use the over and under method of spooling the cables, and then use some kind of cable tie or zip tie to keep the bundle secure.
Most of us watching this are trying to organize a big mess of cables we don't even use (but can't bear to throw out - notice the cellphone charger he showed at 3:00, that's a cable that's at least 8 years old!) My cat tends to chew cables that are thin and NOT coiled, so this was terrific...Plus, if you're ever in need of a hangman's noose...this technique is not far off...
well i thaught it was cool.... fucking haters... u ddint have to bash the guy for making this im sure he didnt knw it damages the cable... they look neat yeah thanks for the comments stating it ruins them so i dont do it... but come on dnt be so rude to the uploader... at least he TRIED to help us out... jeez..
@1:21 you may only need a foot of the cord but NEVER operate the power adapter with the cord in loops as you are making an current choke (inductor) and can easily introduce unwanted side effects into the system. Power brinks such as laptop chargers get dangerously hot when their 120V cords are soiled like this!
Test it out, get an extension cord and a saw or vacuum and run it with the cord in loops and see how hot the cord gets compared to it being strait.

this is blatant cable abuse. not only is he forcing unnatural twists in the internal copper wiring, he's also abusing the connector/cable connection (3:01).
If you want your cables to last, this is not for you.
Wrapping the cable around itself will eventually introduce kinks and twists in the wire. While it doesn't seem apparent, you're also twisting the thin copper wires inside, which will remain twisted when you unravel the wire.
Don't do this to power cords or expensive headphones... you'll break em.
Look up "Over and Under wrap" in google to see a better method. Slightly more troublesome, but its a better and safer method.

Useful method, but it's safe only if you want to wrap your cables permanently.

if this technique is so great, how come technology manufacturers don't practice this? because it fucks up your cables.

I would have never thought of wrapping up cables to make them shorter can you teach us how to tie our shoes now.

Useful for ropes, but not for electrical cables & wires.
