This remnds me so much of my boyhood driving to the beach with my father in our old Buick Rivierra (sp). This and any Jonny Mathis song really takes me back.
This song is from the period when rock, pop, and country songs shifted into commenting on the condition of society. In addition to this one, for example, were things like "Harper Valley PTA" and "D-I-V-O-R-C-E". I also see "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town" listed on the right on this screen, which is a lament of a disabled Vietnam veteran watching his wife abandoning him for a night on the town.
i have been through all my parent's 6 divorce's and im 18...i listen to this song and it makes me want to stop it all...but alas im young and words never go through their minds.
this video just goes to show that you cant judge a book by its cover, i mean this guy doesnt look like he could sing that good but then you find out that he can really belt it.

This makes so much sense. It's about problems between parents while the chidren know, but they just ignore it and pretend they never heard it.

this song does really have a ''deeper'' meaning... and speaks to many people.

This is a great educational song for parents, and they should all be made to listen to it.
