  • My experience would be the latter. I have seen a number of business's fail as the market that they knew so well had moved on and they did not make the changes nor grasp new opportunities and adapt to a new market environment. However as new business today supersedes old business perhaps the new order will in future be far more adaptive.

  • Peter, an interesting point you make about reinvention or even evolution. Personally I think Madonna should be the Queen for that. You mention some successful large companies that have undergone this process and I would be interested in how smaller companies, SME's could tackle this concept. Those without massive marketing budgets but with an equal need or desire to change.

  • @WesleyGransdenUK I wonder if small co's are by their very nature more connected to their markets and therefore potentially more adaptable, unless their owners are single minded....

  • @academyofrock Fair point - I guess the defining factor will be the strength of the owner's vision Wesley. Certainty can defeat the most compelling evidence of the need for change.
