hey man, sweet cover. song is a tricky bitch. just wonderin what amp you usin here? sounds decent. and the gauge strings if you remember? i know twas a long time ago..
@alexashka2011 I didn't sing it, I learned to play it in a day. If you're going to be a critic, at least be constructive. You don't have to be a dick in your criticism.
@samgallagher15 its essentially in C# standard, but with the low e tuned to G#, so when you make a powerchord shape as if you were in standard, it's an octave instead of a 5th.
@AlucardXIX hahaha can you please pleeeeeeeease give me the link for the exact tab, I don't normally use them but I just wanna play this song sooooooooooo bad :D
This is wrong. My boyfriend has played with The Architects twice. I'll get him to post a video on hre so you can all learn this song properly. I don't even play guitar, and evern I know that you're meant to bend from 2:52 onward, not that many note changes. Watch how The Architects play live. x
@lollivaughan Haha, sounds right to me, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were quite wrong. Learned it from a tab on Ultimate guitar, you cant vouch for their correctness all the time.
@lollivaughan calm the fuck down, i thought tht was actually a very good cover, it doesnt have to be exactly the same you know and your right if you dnt know anything about guitar so stop judgin ppl who do, and who cares if your boyfriend played with them, my cousin has met the devil wears prada and the architects and i dnt go on these videos and brag (im not bragging about tht btw, i was setting an example)
@lollivaughan they are sick. i saw them live in ATL this summer. i love you and your BF... Just Btw... ima bout to do this song actually. if he could do this on youtube, that'd be hell sick
can u give me the certain name for the tuning cause i don't understand all the letters like g and all that to verify a string tone, it would be really nice if u could help.
@KillswitchJohn It 's originally meant to be played on a 7-string guitar, with each string tuned down 1 & 1/2 steps. You can obviously play it on a 6-string with each string besides the low E tuned down 1 &1/2 steps, and the low E tuned down 4 steps, but you need to consider the gauge of your strings. Which is why a 7-string guitar is better suited, the lowest string on a 7-string is normally tuned to B which is a perfect fourth above E, making it easy to tune everything down a step and a half.

help me remember the name of a band. they sound like architects, but not as technical. a few years older, like early to mid 2000s maybe even late 90s. ive seriously been racking my brain the past few days trying to remember but im drawing a blank. the band may start with the word "the" if that helps.
hey man this is a really good cover! ive been trying to learn this myself, but the verse tiff gets me stumped cause i keep forgetting where the different sections go haha! but i can play follow the water pretty dang well, what amp do you plug your ibanez through? cause it sounds really nice has that Architects tone, cause im getting that with my Peavey Vyper 100w with my jackson
This may have been asked before, but how did you achieve your tone? Like in the intro riff, where you play the G# an octave higher (2nd fret, F# string), how does it sound like that? You have a different pickup selected?
BMTH in Suicide Season, FTFD on Relentless and Architects in hollow crown both have this cool tone, it sounds like the guitar is a bass, there's this kind of wahh sound when a string is played open i think?
hey. question. so my guitar was in drop d and i tuned down to drop c. now the strings are all loose. by the way i have a floyd rose floating bridge. if that helps. how do i fix it? i thought you may know.
You need to adjust the tension. Floyd's are notorious for that. I hate that fact, i actually blocked the one on my 7 string so I didnt have to deal with that anymore.
It takes a little bit longer than usual, but if you get used to intonating your floyd it won't be too much work. Just used the same brand and same gauge strings every time, I can go from standard to Ab in 20 minutes.
yeah i was gona say i know about the c sharp standard b and drop# its just the way i was looking at u playing it looked like u had the G in standard haha i just saw it wrong.and yeah some of the shit on the newer album the drop G# is wen u tune down from A# standard
Honestly it's a 10-52 set. I was surprised when the 52 held the G# so well haha. It's just standard C# tuning with the C# dropped to G# so a regular powerchord on the lowest strings is an octave instead.
Haha well since you mentioned it...I've been contemplating doing a video for "Totla Mad" for a long time now. Plus I have a full tab for the old version of "The Walk" that their old singer (Jake) sent me. So...who knows, maybe =P
Oh also, to everyone who watches this. I'm thinking of redoing some Veil of Maya songs at least 1 or 2 of them. Which ones would you like to see redone the way I've been doing videos lately (music in the background etc)
Well I was talking about one's I've already done. Too many people have done It's Not Safe. That's why I've done the ones that I have, because so few have done them.
i kinda figured ud say that about its not safe to swim lol only reason i asked is bc no one has done a really impressive cover ive seen yet i think u could pull it off well =p
i was thinking or doing an album cover when i get my camera of vom i know most of thier songs from a a few months back thats all i wanted to learn haha
The only song on Common Mans I dont know is All Eyes Look Ahead. Mainly because I havent sat down and tried to learn it. And a few parts just have too much going on for me to really decipher what's going on.
There's a bad ass guitar pro on Ultimate Guitar that I used. Damn thing is almost perfect. I thought I heard the outro different than the tab thats why I did it the way I did.

what gauge strings do you use for their weird ass tuning ?
chris170b 2 years ago
Honestly it's a 10-52 set. I was surprised when the 52 held the G# so well haha. It's just standard C# tuning with the C# dropped to G# so a regular powerchord on the lowest strings is an octave instead.
