Saw the Byrds at the Whiskey in 66. I heard there was also a really weird band playing there. I asked if they were any good; everyone said no. I never went to see them; it was the Doors, before they got thrown out for playing The End. I never was much of a Jackie DeShannon fan but loved some of her songs back when I was but a teen-age baby boomer in the 60s.(and now I am in my 60s);
Where have all the flower-people gone?
Gone to graveyards everyone, and it looks like I'm next.
didn't know the Whiskagogo was still there, went there sometime in '65 when i was stationed at ElToro Marine air base, if i remember correctly, Johnny Rivers was there that night....
Miss DeShannon is one of the Grand Dammes of rock & roll, along with Carole King and Cissy Houston. My wife hates when I tell her this, but I would like to spend a day and a night with any or all of them. These ladies could teach me a great deal about the music business, and I would walk away a smarter man afterwards.
Oh man, so cool. The Whisky is still there too isnt' it? It was there even when I was a kid growing up in theSFV. I was only there once in about 1989 -- my friends opened for Madame X I think it was. Drove there & back from Phoenix in a minivan crammed full of people and equipment, it was fun.
She was on the very first american tour of the Beatles back in 1964..and yes she is still Hot and rocking!!! Let's see where Britney,Lindsay and cie will be in 40 years....
Luckily I was at the Whiskey for this legendary event/packed to the max, Jackie rocked the roof off and was magnificent with a hot and cooking band & legendary session background singers making this a once in a lifetime event...Bravo Jackie & Co!!!
I am sorry you couldn't get to London. No prior commitments could have stopped me. She was seriously brilliant - don't mean to rub it in...but if you go to her Official Website message board there is talk of her maybe coming back. We will keep our fingers crossed.
I was there too,she was fantastic but I thought that duo who opened for her were dead boring,I wanted to hang around afterwards to meet Jackie & get my cd booklets sighned but I had to rush off to get the last train back to Portsmouth.

I think Randy Jackson, the American Idol judge, is one of the backup singers. On the left side. This is awesome Jackie.

I wanted to go to the London gig but other commitments wouldn't let me. I envy you (been a fan of Jackie's since the sixties).
