Why are we fighting over who's better? Why do people always have to make everything a competition? Both of them are super successful and I'm sure they respect each other while you people argue about them in the comments as if they are competing with each other.
They are ALL awesome! People think Beyonce can't sing as well as other singers because she's beautiful. I know, it doesn't make sense when you state it like that, does it? Beyonce was blessed with looks, talent, drive, determination, and now she has a beautiful family as well. I'm envious but hey, I can't hate!

@Thisistheplcetobe - Jennifer Hudson's character Effie is vocally the strongest member of the group and at the beginning of the movie is the lead singer however Beyonce's character has the more commercially appealling voice - hence why she takes over when the Dreams becomes famous
It mirrors what happened in real life with The Supremes. Diana Ross was given the lead because her voice had the most cross over appeal not because she had a stronger voice than either Florence Ballard or Mary Wilson
The reason why Beyonce "toned" down her voice was because she emulating the style of Diana Ross and since the movie is set in the 60's (and based loosely on "The Supremes"), many black female singers of that period did not do the kind of vocal gymnastics you hear in many of today's young singers.
In other words, you could still be good without singing fifteen runs and hitting every note you can in a song!
I am laughing at how all these Beyonce fans are taking up for her in this movie. Talking about how she took the power out of her voice lmao. That may be somewhat true but even in Beyonce's most powerful tone she is still no match to J Hud's voice! J Hud has the Oscar and outshined Beyonce in this movie completely! Just accept it!!

I was Back there in the 1960 when the Supremes were the No.1 girl group with Diana on Lead. this movie was a slap to Berry and Diana.

The playwrites may have used the Supremes and other stars to inspire the foundation of some of the characters, but the play has a life of its own. When Deena's mom said that line, it was because that's what Denna's mom thought, NOT Diana's mom. It wasn't written in disrespect.

Thats what Smokeys beef was about sum folks really believed it. that was not good.

Diana saw from the begining it Was her image.
