Hello Mr. Basler! I'm a choir student from California, and I'm going to be singing this in the central division honor choir, I just got the music today, and I'm am definitely looking forward to singing this!
Hello Dr.Basler!I'm a freshmen soprano 1from University High School, thank you so much for coming to our school to work with us.I hope we did your beautiful piece as well as you wanted us to.
I however do not think the vowels are too spread. Some get in their minds that ALL songs have to have perfectly round vowels and that's not true. if these vowels were too spread you would hear "ha-lay-loo-yah" but you hear "ha-LEH-loo-ya" maybe if this piece were in latin or italian you would way these vowels were too spread but this formation fits the upbeat and feeling of the piece.
maybe im partial, but i think its sounds way better when it's just SSAA... and, the vowels are indeed too spread. my director would have a fit, im afraid to think of what mr.pullen would say...
I freaking love this song. I'm a first soprano and my choir is doing this song. I love the high notes. I'm one of the stongest sopranoes in my school and I love this song. It's soooo beautiful. The level of difficulty is so totally worth it.
HOLY CRAP! I was singing in this as a first soprano! It was so fun singing this but really, really hard to keep tempo. As you heard we still had problems, but we were so happy to hear that we got a 1. It was AWESOME!!
We're learning this right now! I'm a soprano one (is that the same as first soprano? I think so, but I'm not sure), and yeah, the tempo is hard. Of course, most of us are beginners and that's not helping -_- Any tips?
Well Seran, just keep thinking about a steady beat in your head. If it helps, tap the rhythm with you hand or foot or even with your fingers against your chest. It helps to keep an internal tempo going. As stay focused about what part comes next. If you're not paying attetion you can get off really easily.
And yes, first soprano and soprano one are the same thing.
Also, be aware of the parts around you. Are you doing SATB as well or just SSA?
Okay, thanks^^ Um, our class is just SSA, but I think we'll be combining the whole choir eventually...maybe. But right now our three groups practice in separate rooms of the choir hall.
