  • This kitchen is small my closet is bigger

  • maxrock is right, that's exactly how i've done it. conveniently enough, backerboard comes in the same thickness as drywall. i don't like the "vintage" look of slapped-on backerboard plus tile, except on an appropriately vintage house.

also, i'm 99% sure it's not to code to have shower/tub surround not done with cement backerboard. for good reason, drywall will fall apart the minute it gets wet.

  • On the shower surround tile not having hardi-backer underneath: You can't tell by the thickness because often you would cut away the old drywall and replace it with hardi-backer - so you'd still have flush tile. That's actually the nicer way to do it.

  • Keep the videos coming. Love your honesty about realestate.

  • I agree with The Canadian Public. The house may be just your basic vanilla but it is a popular flavor.

  • It might be "basic" stuff to you, but the end result is greatly superior to the sum of the parts! You can move into the place at a moment's notice!

That is, move in just in time to see the neighbours being foreclosed. :)
