a while ago i punched in the violin score on my computer so that i could have it play out all the note values as they're written without the violin's limitations. i wasn't aware that bach had written an organ arrangement.
it's amusing how for bwv 1001 bach was clearly trying to stretch a violin into an organ, and then for bwv 539, he seems to mimic some of the articulations of a violin (eg 5:10).
i don't know if that's really what he intended, but i like it.
modern violin bows can't play that particular chord in a single note; it has to be arpeggiated the way it is in this performance.
recently i learned that baroque bows could play chords like that one, but apparently bach was aware of both the modern style bow as well as the old style.
I also enjoyed this interpretation. The pegs are actually knobs that each control a stop or "voice" on the organ. When one is pulled out or "drawn" you activate or unstop one of many sounds. They are like a spice rack and you must use them in good combination to make a good ensemble or "registration". If they are not used or combined in the right proportions, they make an unsatisfactory recipe of sound. I hope this helps a little.
Schitterende uitvoering!

This is a very, very beautiful and empathic recital.

I really don't see where you're going with this. I see nothing violinistic with the instance you've given.

@OceanderTethyseus actually it turns out that those bows are most likely a modern invention -- so who knows!
