Quit making "rock a billy" vintage style guitars and get building more usa californians, scarabs, phantoms and such. The true american legends were made in the 80s.
I shot and produced this video. the narrator you all complain about is Jol Dantzig himself, Hamer co-founder. Seeing and shooting the factory for days, the craftsmanship is impressive. A guitar really worth trying. I apologize for this video quality, it is not an official Hamer posting. This video was posted very dark and it's wrong. I will try to post a real OFFICIAL copy of this video soon.
i have to say these guitars are amazing i picked up a hamer slammer from the pawn shop for about 300 and it plays way better than my schecter hellraiser. and i picked it up yesterday after not playing it for two months and it was perfectly intue
@monstermitch58 I in fashion yes, but the slammer is so much better than a squire. I had a squire strat, then i bought a slammer special 2 flame top. The slammer is actually my go to guitar. The squire was the most terrible guitar I ever bought. I would suggest buying a slammer long berfore I'd even utter "squire".
man, that nararrtor way over-does it. man, he talks like his guitars are the most superior guitars on the planet. they dont get made any different way at all. any custom shop does things that way, and its just ridiculous how he goes off and says how they are the only ones who do things that well.
I know, I was so sold on getting a Carvin and thought it was like the only place that had such fine woods and things lol. I liked my DC400A but wont buy another Carvin except maybe an acoustic.
Have you played a Hamer btw? I suggest you do. None the less, when did Carvin suggest that they only had fine woods or whatnot? Unless I misunderstood your statement, there are a fair few companies that have fine wood stashed away, including Hamer...
Hamer, almost forgot about them. Many heroes play those I know.
I was kidding around because of the whole pitch when I bought my DC400 Anniversary model, it had 5 woods, etc. It had real nice tone, but it was not a be all end all guitar. I had to mess with it and put some dimarzios on. Never really felt quite like the big name guitars like PRS, even though they show the list price would be $2500 or whatever. It all sales pitches, but it's worth the price you do pay in the end sure.
To some extent, what you've said is not exactly true. Not all Custom Shops make guitars using the same exact methods as Hamer does. As to whether it's better or not, it's subjective. I however suggest you go try out some Hamers, definitely one of the best guitars in the market. :D
You apparently little to no experience with quality guitars. Hamers will hold their own with any boutique maker (Grosh, Trussart, etc) and any big company (PRS, Gibson, etc).
The dark lighting is so that the spotlighting at each station stands out more and helps the tech focus on their work. They aren't working in the dark.
You sir, are retarded. Hamer makes fine, fine, guitars whos quality can match Gibson, Fender, PRS, etc. You are just obviously a rookie guitarist who thinks that it's cool to follow the mainstream approach, and automatically dismiss small makers.
Nobody builds em better than these guys! Trust me & check out my videos with these wonderful instruments! I am completely spoiled by "HAMER" royalty!!
hes like several hours go into hand sanding. then hes like he will spend a whole 45 minutes on this. i think that narrarator is over doing it on all of it
and thats why Hamer guitars are som eof the best guitars out there..i think they're underrated personally, because all you see are Gibsons, PRS, Gretsch, Rickenbacker, and Fenders. Ibanez and LTDs are no comparison, but you NEVER! hear anything about Hamer guitars, except if your a Hamer guitar owner and fan of Hamer guitars, or if you read it it magazines, etc..i own a Hamer Archtop Honeyburst guitar, and it is probably one of the best guitars i've ever played.
I own three Hamers and I have to say that they are without equal. I am an Engineer by trade and thoroughly understand NC machining. But I am also a guitar player and there is no substitute for the human touch and these guitars have it. Long may they rock.
Guitar makers such as Suhr (if memory does not fail me) use CNC machines for specific reasons where high tolerances are required which cannot be done by the human hand. However, the amount of time a guitar spend in the CNC machine is by far much smaller than the amount of handwork required to produce a well crafted guitar.
There is a difference using CNC machines for mass production and using CNC machines as another tool to produce a well crafted guitar. You do not simply put raw wood into a CNC machine and a brand new guitar pops out of the other side.
Awsome. Hamer makes some of the best archtops around. And yes, hand carving does make a difference. CNC machines, assembly lines and computers cannot insure proper direct electronic coupling. Such is neccessary for good tone.
I just don't understand why a hand carved, hand bound hoity-toity guitar would make a better sounding, better playing guitar. Only a more expensive one. Nice stuff though.
A hollow body guitar has more resonance than a solid body one. If you've ever played a hollow body Gretsch or Rickenbacker as opposed to a Fender Stratocaster or a Les Paul you'd hear a signifcant difference. Also you're paying for better quality. Compare a Mexican made Tele to an American made one and you'll see a HUGE difference.
I LOVE HAMERS!!!!!

Why is that shop so dark? I dont think that the lighting in there would be appropriate to make guitars. Hamer are POS guitars.
