I remember I was about 11 years old the first time I saw this episode (circa 1988) and I was surprised the world didn't stop when Richie punched Fonzie.
I love the fonz more then any other character on tv, but watching the later seasons, well he just seemed to have lost a little of his coolness, like in his voice and attitude... I dunno it's just not as 'cool'
If Richie just came home from the army, why does he have long hair and not a buzz cut. That was one of the mistakes in this show, they all had 70's hairstyles but lived in the 50's. The Fonz would have had long hair but nobody else would have.
@tryithere they were in one episode from the 1st or 2nd season, where they went to a beatnik club.Well Potsie and Ralph went disguised as them.I was just saying that other guys had longer hair back then too.The Beatles were the first to make it popular.Einstein had longer hair styled in a kind of grey haired mullet in the 40's and 50's.Long hair for guys didnt really become commonplace til about 1971 though.
Richie says he was the perfect soldier. Funny thing is, if you go to about the 4 minute mark of youtube.com/watch?v=W3rUQ_w2vjQ Marion says "I'm glad there was no fighting. I didn't raise my son to be a soldier." I guess she did after all.
Fonz was a highschool dropout, draft dodging, bully pediphile nailing high school girls in the guest room over Richie's garage right under the nose of Tom Bosley. LOFL great 70s wholesome entertainment complete with innuendos youll never see in any show ever again.
@crossriflecom hopefully all the girls were 18 year olds in their last year of high school.Richie changed the Fonz from being a bully into a nicer guy when he first met him when Fonzie was still in the Falcons
@ProFishingGuys Fonz was a bully when he was in the Falcons b4 he met Richie. When Richie sat at his table in Arnolds, Fonz wanted to beat him up in an alley but Richie convinced him to give up his tough ways in the Falcons and leave the gang.
8:11-8:17 is more proof why Mr. C was/IS my favorite character. The man in charge. Raised all the kids, kept his woman the "obedient" wife (sorry, ladies reading this-lol) & gave Fonz a place to live.
I've never seen this scene before, I used to watch this show on Nick and Night but I forget if it ever made it this far in the series. Dear Mike I wanted to cry, I think he makes it back to the Wedding though.
friends and family always atleast once attack each other but at the same time we have a good time.the reason i keep watching the video is the emotional episode and it makes me sad on how i'm gonna say good bye to my family and friends
fonzie's reaction just made tears run out of my eyes
name should be change to "the saddest Sitcom Scene."
What happened here? Was this some sort of return of Richie? i remember for a while on the show Richie wasn't in it anymore, did he come back as an asshole and Fonz had to set him straight?
This was a touching episode. I once heard Henry say: "I'm only 135 pounds, who the hell am I going to beat up?" -lol
It was supposed to be the early-mid 60's at this point, but everyone was wearing 80's hair styles and clothes. Garry Marshall should have stayed true to the time period. Besides the shark jump, that it what bothered me most about the later episodes.
@LCMScorpio412 I don't know who that is so I'm not gonna disagree with you, but if you post a comment thinking people will write back badly, and u don't want them to, why would you post the comment?
i was talking to my dad and i was like 'you no, there should be happy programes not one with drama and lots of stuff happening! like hmmm it should be called happy days!' my dad:'well guess what... theres already a proggrame called happy days!' i just fell in shame because i want to be a director!!!!!!!!
Tears welled up in my eyes as Richie was saying his good-byes. Happy Days with the original cast was one of the best things on TV; an American Classic, the likes of which we'll never see again.
Richie and Fonzie are so close the only Richie can get away with this! I also think this was more than Richie wanting a different life. I think this was also Ron Howerd saying he wants to be a director now (even though the charactor Richie wasn't trying to be a director the situation is similar)
I loved that they brought Ron Howard back and gave his character a proper send off. This was originally his show, and it was strange to tune in one day and all of a sudden he's not there.
That's something I miss about the past. Friends or brothers could sometimes even hit each other yet still remain close if they talked it over afterwards. Nowadays people end relationships and stop talking to each other entirely (I'm talking relationships like guy friends, brothers, father/son, etc., not male/female) over the stupidest of things. People are way too sensitive and petulant compared to the way they were in the past.
is any body else crying like a chick right now , no matter how many times i see that ending i cry like a woman my wife loves it when i watch this she says women like to see there men be a little overwhelm with emotions once in a while to all the wifes out there is this true
