@drsc Yeah. Only Lion can do a decent crouch dash otherwise VF2 doesn't have the mechanic for it. Nothing to do with the PC as this is the actual Arcade emu, so what ever I am pulling off here I can also do it in the arcade providing the joystick is good.
Its cool. I was only speculating that you must be playing this with a keyboard since it looked like you had a hard time crouch dashing and doing any moves. I'm just used to seeing more fluid Akiras back in the arcades years ago. Maybe I should upload a vid and show you what I mean.
As for modified moves, its just an old term used to describe characters doing thier full crouch moves after crouch dashing, so it comes out "instantly". No big deal.
I downloaded M2 Emulator (v0.9) and Virtua Fighter 2 (v2.1). While the game runs fine, I'm experiencing a weird sound glitch: During fights, I constantly hear announcer saying random stuff. For example, when I hit opponent, I hear announcer's "game over" sound effect (or something else, totally random). Also, on Sarah's stage, instead of thunderstorm SFX, I constantly hear random announcer's BS ("round", "three", "excellent"...). You get the picture...
Sounds like (no pun intended) that you got a bad version of the VF2 rom as you are using the same emulator like mine. Try searching for a better rom. Let me know how you get on.
Can you tell me how you are getting Akira to do a knee strike? I did it accidently on VF1 and never figured out how to do it, and the book doesn't say
@DDRUTOU Press "Block" (B) and "Kick" (K) simultaneously (+) then within 1-2 milliseconds (or 2 frames of animation) you must let go of "B" whilst still holding on "K".
It takes time to pull-off consistently but the way to practise is to burn the pressing style in your head on and off the game. Tip: I activate it on the joystick by scrap/slight-press the edge of the "B" button with the tip of my thumb. This doesn't apply to joypad but performing the knee can still be done.
@wopskie Oh, but I do play Virtua Fighter 5. Please check out my tournament video in my channel called "Seiki no Taiketsu 2007nen: Kenshirou Vs Ek (Semi Finals Pt3) ". I was using Lei Fei.
Tournaments are incredibly hard to play in but I think I did pretty well against the elites. Funnily, I like Virtua Fighter 3 more right now until VF5 Final Showdown arrives.
hey bro, i ve tried looking for an emulator to get this game but i cant find one. can u tell me the site and the emulator u used and also if it still works lol? thanks men
Hi, TrojanX which roms are you running? I cant find vf2 rom for m2, now I using MAME'S rom, but it said some file cant be load, please help! Im using M2 0.9 too.
@wondermega4ever The jumping was just a style, not sure why exactly but possibly to emulate those wire martial arts movies with people leaping all over the places. They toned down the jumping in 4, maybe in 3 too, can't remember.
In other words, the reason some games looked worse on the Saturn than on the Playstation was that Saturn required more time to program. Third party programmers took short cuts and programmed games in C language and only used one of the Saturn's 3 32-bit CPUs.
@dumbanddumber94: The Saturn did not have weaker 3D capabilities than the Playstation. The problem with the Saturn is that it required programmers to program games in assembler language to utilize its full 3D capabilities, which most were unwilling to do, so they took shortcuts (which made 3D games look worse). Sega simply designed VIrtua Fighter 2 using the Saturn's full 3D capabilities. Know your tech. Do research.
Yep, and its a shame that they didnt use the Saturn's power as they shouldve and as Sega themselves did on ocation, cause it really is a much more powerful system over the playstation.
Yeah they are bad now, but you gotta respect the Saturn though, it had the weakest 3D capabilities, and they did a good job with this game graphics wise.
ofc lol, I think I finished this game with each character 10 times at least :P I liked the blond guy who did the backflip, that was pretty hardcore, too bad they took off these amazing music themes and replaced them
The PC version is basically the Saturn port but with higher resolution and better shaders. But the stages are still lacking the full 3D environments (e.g. Shun's bridge). One is better off emulating this if they can. Or getting the PS2 version (which is an arcade port).
What emulator is this? I don't like the VF2 PC game because it doesn't have the music!

hahaha. Hard to crouch dash and do modified moves when you're playing on PC, I guess.
The vid was okay, anyway.

Nope, I still have the same problem. I tried all versions (2.1, Rev A, and Original). But, it's OK. Little annoying, but OK. :)
If you can, please PM me a link for a version you have.

What's good about this is that it's canon. Akira really did win Virtua Fighter 2, just like Lau won 1 and Kage won 3 and 4.
