I used to hang out at this mall almost everyday several years ago. It was a beautiful, clean mall and had some nice people who worked there. Quiet too... I felt like I had the place to myself as I would walk up and down it for hours with almost nobody around. Never had to wait in line at any of the stores and always got a great parking spot. Sadly, you could tell it wasn't gonna last much longer after years of declining business; especially with popular Broward Mall just steps away.
I might have more footage buried on a harddrive, crisp124, but it would pretty much be the same thing as in this video.. as it was all shot around the same time. Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! It was fun to make.
if you look on the second floor parking lot i taped a $20 dollar bill to to one of the pillars at 3:05 about 2 months agp and 2 weeks it was still there so whoever wants it its up for dibs if anyone reads this and acctualy gets it if its still there, please send me a picture lol btw nice video u got anymore footage?
The old hollywood fashion center is an old abandoned mall its still there and totally abandoned for all of you"abandoned building freaks" out there like me.Its located on 441 and hollywood blvd in broward. That mall went into decline back in the early 90s when they opened the pembroke lakes mall.the old mall was back from the 70s.If Im not mistaking it had a Burdines in the north wing,a Zaire store in the south wing,in the east wing it had a store called richards.
This mall was completely abandoned. There was nothing, except garbage strewn about in random areas. At the time, it hadn't been open in at least 3 years, nor had it been rented out. It was literally a piece of rotting property.
@shrooki It's the fashion mall on university dr in plantation fl. My mom worked at macys. Really dumb how they made a nice mall like that a block away from another mall. Made no sense, no woner it closed. It was a nice mall though.
the new art school is in the old Jordan Marsh location in the south wing.In the old OMNI what u have to do is go into hotel and go through the differnt levels there r like 3 or 3 I think, you will be able to catch a glimpse if you look for a good vantage point from the balcony overlooking the big glass wall.you can see where the stairs have been blocked. If you can find your way through the banquet areas you can sneak through into the north wing you can actually see the empty space where it was.
Interesting piece. That mall opened in 1988.It was called the Fashon Mall Plantation.it had the second Macy's store in the state of Florida. It also has a Lord and Taylor department store. It still has the Sheraton Hotel which is the only thing open.Alot of memories in that mall for me.You should check out the old Hollywood Fashion center on 441. and also the legendary O.M.N.I Mall which is in downtwon Miami inside the Hyatt Hotel on Biscayne Blv..Its kind of hard to get into the O.M.N.I.
Very, very artistically done, & effective at creating the mood... yes, I craved seeing more of the mall, but you succeeded in making me feel the MOOD of the mall, which appeared to be the purpose of this piece. Job accomplished!

It was a beautiful mall, for sure. Wonderful, tall glass ceilings, and white walls. It was always so bright and clean inside.

Those garage elevators were creepy... most the time they didn't work and if they did you didn't wanna ride them. Sad what happened to that mall.

I should have used a tripod as you did! I bet the guards were at bay in the rain, huh? Nice work!

Will there be more like this due to the current recession? Nicely captured, and the rain was a great bonus, natural sound track.
