Yes he'll never read this. But youtube, this guy taught wrote Surfing With The Alien and taught Steve Vai and Kirk Hammett... so I guess, he's influenced me more than any other one player. Lots of us can say that.
@BanannaThug well, obviously there was a point when he sucked. there's a point where every guitar player sucks! Like, when you first pick up the instrument without really knowing what you're doing!
There was this ad up on the vid just now. It was a 5 string bass player, modeling for something. I was about to close it when, I said: "No. It's better than having some VEVO ad up there."
Hi i like your channel and your videos I just want a little favour from you guys.I am a fourth generation musician. Only few people are playing this instrument. So please subscribe and add your comment. It will be a great help for this instrument to survive in hi-tech world. go on binsitar
ive heard of people that knew him personally say the same he rarely ever practiced when he played on stage that was practice he just had talent i can guarantee theres people today that practiced more than he did and still aint ass good so again fuck off asswipe
@mossberg451 You're a fucking yum yum to 1. fall for that bs and 2. for eating it up..you probably voted for Obama. Any person great at ANYTHING has practiced their asses off to levesl a yum yum like you would never even fathom. To think that ANY human being is born with talent or musical ability is the epitome of stupidity let's assume he was born with talent to create music and come up with it..how about the technical ability to play it? No one is born with that. That takes years of practice.
@PinkyWontWork hell no i didnt vote for obama jimi was 27 when he died and could play people under the table what he did then would take people longer than 27 years to come up with so fuck off
Just one thing; Hendrix was/is famous for playing from his heart, playing soulfully. Not technical prowess. His stuff is easy to play, it really is. Complexity and grandiosity (I mean musical grandiosity; his live shows were certainly pretty grandiose) were not his strengths. Rather, he played tastefully, he played with a lot of feeling and he played stuff that the world had literally never heard before.
But, some people catch on to it much more quickly. Some just have that ability to learn and develop skill quickly. I think it depends on what kind of person you are, what your individual strengths are, and also depends on how much you actually enjoy playing and hearing (and making) music. If you love doing it, you will tend to do it more, and as a result, get good at it quickly. I learned to play pretty fast. And, what does politics have to do with it?
@mossberg451 have you ever tried playing guitar? You dont just pick it up and be good at it. That's impossible It takes alot ALOT of work and practice.
Unlike alot of instruments playing guitar physically changes you. you have to develop muscles in your hands inorder to play it well, and the tips of your fingers have to harden.
Then there are other factors like finger accuracy coordination etc that takes years to master. Satriani also studied ALOT of music theory.
@3star2nr ive been playing for 11 years but ive seen that chinese kid that plays damn good so explain that hes a kid for christ sakes and hes better than most so whats all that years of practice and lessons about
@mossberg451 As for Jimi Hendrix it was the same thing, he used to wake up and pretty much play all day. Hendrix didn't study music theory, but he used to play ALL THE TIME. hell a guy that used to live with him said in a documentary about him that He asked hendrix to sweep there apartment, and he would come back and see, pieces of the broom on the floor, later he found out Jimi would be strumming and shredding the broom like a guitar LOL
@jem7vwhgod Yes, you have to be a giant of an imbecile to think that.. not just about music but of anything in life. Sports, music, art..anything that a person becomes good at it's because of tons of practice. I too laughed at this fool (mossberg451), too bad I don't know him personally I'd be feeding him BS stories just to get into his house and screw his mother and sister. Hell, if he's that stupid I might even BS him into doing my lawn and cook for me twice a week. lol
thats what i fucking meant he just played the damn thing on stage thats how he practiced no one will ever be as good as him the stage was his practice asshole
This is a really inspiring moment. I've been playing for about 7 years (purely classical), and have sacrificed countless hours to my practice, always having the feeling that Joe describes. Even though my playing is nothing special, I never feel like I have hit any kind of limit, and my playing steadily improves over time. I guess it's really about having the drive to persist at something you love, despite the hardships along the way. I hope other people found this clip equally motivating. Peace!
hendrix use to practice all the time, he never considered it practice though, he alway s had his guitar with him and even slept with it when he was in the army and played the blues 24/7 to express the remorce he had for the passing of his mother
@LightningPC101 You're a dumb ass, Steve Stevens wrote the Top Gun Anthem. You probably just download all your music illegally, with a bunch of songs that either have the wrong name or wrong artist.
@LuneyTune72 I didn't say he wrote it, he did a cover of it. Thanks for jumping down my throat. Yes I realize this post is old, but I had to defend myself against your snide insinuations.
@mossberg451 - Yeah but he wasn't exactly technical. You can reach that level of guitar playing without putting in a lifetime of practice. You can't however, reach this guys level without some hardcore, hands on practice.
@Hardysamnin thats not fair to Hendrix. Sure, alot of the pieces aren't too difficult to play the notes, but there's alot of subtlety to bring out the expressiveness. Its no less technical than Satriani's work. Just cause its not light speed doesn't make it any less beautiful brilliant music, and to suggest otherwise is foolish.
@mossberg451 how the fuck can you make a comment like that?? Did you know hendrix? You have no fucking idea of Jimis practice routine and that is so fucking retarded to make a claim like you do!
Yea M.A.B. is just amazing both as a musician and a person, I'm about to purchase the speed kills DVD's just to try and pick up on his style as well as get my fingers on his solos
