UserAlan1 -- the being who disovered Protoculture (or, more technically, acted as its 'midwife') was simply Zor. Zor Prime was the name of his clone.
Bladestar7 -- That's nice, but we're talking about Robotech, here, not Macross. We all know what the differences are by now. Pointing them out at this juncture merely makes one sound like a hair-splitting purist.
Sad to see Battlestar Galactica come to an end..but F@#$%n excited that Robotech is coming to life. Damn, after the new Star Trek film that's coming (I'm a Star Wars junkie), I feel the same excitment like when I was a kid in my country running after school to watch the lates episode of THE Robotech saga
Can somebody tell me whatta hell is PROTOCULTURE?? everything on this anime is about it, everybody want it...
I know is a kind of energy , but,in the first
saga SDF macross they said protoculture is in this vessel, then the protoculture is in the earth on aces high, later on, on shadow the commander hunter has the protoculture on SDF3 vessel, so, WTF.. can anyone tell me what's
What protoculture is a mega powerful source of energy that allows the folding of space and it runs everything. It would be what present day oil is to us. The Invid feed off of it and use it to fuel their evolutionary experiments. So that's what protoculture is. A mutagenic energy source that can change the very essence of life itself.
Protoculture is an energy form cause by restraining the flower of life from fertilizing and is thus an infinately renewable resource. Problem is it only blooms in select places and earth happens to be one of them. That is what the Invids beef is. Thr Robotech Masters stole their flower of life and devastated their homeworld and know earth is the only known source of the plant now.
To Haeavyriff9999... Well from what I remember in the Robotech universe, Protoculture is a form of pseudo-mystical energy. It is based on life or living energy. It is like a form of biological fission or fusion, well I'm not exactly sure on which. Protoculture is based around a seed and plant found only on the home world of the Invid, but is difficult to grow on other planets. Unfortunately it grows quite well on earth.
This seed is harvested and through harnessing it's biological properties in a protoculture matrix one can harness the process of life itself. This process I can only assume makes a vaguely undefined energy field that connects atomic matter perhaps simulating the process of life itself. Like a blue tooth but for molecules. That is not cannon, but it's all that I can assume would be the explanation after all these years.
Anyways back to cannon, this process was discovered by Zor Prime, of the race that would become the Robotech Master's, and was used to make the Zentradi. And yes, it does produce exponentially more energy that atomic manipulation of inorganic matter. This is why protoculture energy can be used to so easily manipulate living organisms, because in it's core root is tied to the same process.
It can also be used to give none organic materials a seeming quality of life, as well making an undefined connection between "man and machine". The SDF-1 had the last source of healthy or pure seeds and matrix in it. The SDF-1, Zor's last and greatest achievement, was sent away by him at the time of his death so the master's and Zentraedi could no longer abuse it. That is why everyone in the galaxy wanted the SDF-1.
Without it their entire Empire and way of life would collapse. Their cloning and master of biological forms would end, and they once again would truly face death.
actually Protoculture is a Race of Beings that exist before Humanity and the Zentradi. The editors of robotech changed it to follow Southern Cross' storyline. However in Southern Cross it wasn't Protoculture.Becasuse of finagling done by harmony gold I really don't know what the flowers really are. but as I stated protoculture is the moniker given to the race of beings who predated Humanity and the Zentradi.
No matter what comes out, no matter who plays what, I still believe that the original Robotech Macross Saga will forever be the best saga of them all. Masters was a complete waste of time, and New Generation was good, but it wasn't the reason I fell in love with Robotech.
Please help! I have watched the three series, but that's as far as it goes. I don't understand what happened after the last episode. What ever happened to Rick Hunter's expedition. What happened in between the Matcross saga and the Robotech Masters? Did this movie all ready come out? Please help!
mark hamill was luke skywalker from starwars episode 4-6
toby maguire and mark hamill must have been robotech fans themselves. especially toby maguire who wants to make a real life movie and also wants to play the part of the big hero rick hunter
They will, from what's know there at least 2 Robotechs in the can but are TBA. One continuing after the shadow chronicals and another based of the Macross saga which takes place during the 2 years period after "Force Of Arms!" Both are going to be made by Tatsunoko studios and Harmony Gold and both which are going to be marked as Robotech world wide(Isn't that amazing!) both of them are still in their primordial stages and if all goes well we will some new Robotech somewhere in the year 2010/11.
Saw the movie. It was pretty freakin' awesome. However, I highly recommend super Robotech fans read the novel "End of the Circle" for the full deal on what happens at the end of Robotech.
The end of the circle has been negated by the shadow chronicles, its not how Robotech will end. While TSC shares a few things in common with EOTC, TSC is its own story, taking a new path.
According to wikipedia, there will be another movie after this one entitled Robotech: Shadow Rising to be released in 2009 and there is also a live Robotech movie planned.
Ah, this sneak peak actually looks a lot more promising than I had been expecting! Great stuff, might be the most enjoyable outing (though likely equally imperfect as a sequel) since Revenge of the Sith..

I agree with you that Macross was the best chapter of the entire series, but I disagree that Masters was the worst.
Masters is unfairly underrated.

The ghaphics and Sound Effects looks like Macross Frontier.
But Harmony Gold win this battle of graphics.
