I was on 3 then 14 Sqns (AB205s) in Oman when these were filmed; although these were shot at Thumrait, the annual highlight was the 'flyunder' at Seeb after the National Day parade flypast (invariably a diamond 16 in those days, Hunter/Jaguar mix). Used to enjoy standing on the roof of the 205 by the AVPIN store and watch these fellas go by while looking down(!)
soulboy0506 - I had a couple of trips in the T-bird with Troff Jones while we were both out there - top bloke.
Amazing footage, my dad was based at Thumrait in the early to mid 80's, although I was young at the time I remember the fighters flying so low, was amazing to see as a kid, great upload :)
If this video is what I think it is it was filmed in the early 80's. I worked on the Hunter flight line for 3 years from 80 to 83 at Thumrait for a company called Airworks. Here you see the Jaguar doing what it is good at.........flying very low and without the restrictions you have in the UK.
Jaguars got refitted and re-introduced to service after the first Gulf War, and as far as I know are still in service to this day. Mainly because of their almighty payload. Missile pylons can be fitted below and above the wings. Sadly pilots seem to suffer vertigo in them and don't like flying above twenty feet.
1:53 WTF!!!???

The Jaguars are still in service and are based in Thumreit -the Block 50 F-16s are also there.
The Hawks are in Messirah and they still use BAE 1-11s which are a delight to see and fly in.
The Skyvans are still hard at work as well. Plenty of Hercules too.
The Hunters are all gone but some are gate guardians. There is one outside the air base at Seeb.
