  • I'll rock out wit my Mv 8800 for now...haha

  • i never used mpc in my life. Will this be good for a beginer

  • @smokelahoma1yeah if you got two g's to blow ? lol but seriously You need to start with a 500 0r 1000 I have a 1000. Then if your serious about it yeah cop the 5000. Since I got my equipment I have allot more respect for Music producers because this shit is HARD WORK ! especially when your first getting started.

  • @g77seven hell yea i got two gz to blow.i want to get this.i put music as my first priority

  • i never used mpc in my life. Will this be good for a beginer

  • Sorry if this is a silly question, i'm very new to this. But is that instrument a sampler or synthesizer and the sounds you're making - does it come preloaded in the synthesizer/sampler or do you have to upload sounds to the instrument?

  • @itsmrfz You can sample the sounds from old vinyl or cds e.g. but it has a synthensizer too

they are of course some drum libraries in there

  • TIGERJUNGE LOVES MPC

  • i dunno what to get guys? which is more better and more Stable? an Mpc 4000? or Mpc 5000?

and i know this is a mad question but turning it on, how easy is it to get makin a beat?

cos ive used the 500 and i sent it back took me like 4 hours to assign a snare to 1 pad and i cudnt see the screeen, so advice on them 2 things would be great thanks! ?

  • yo i think the 5000 is just made for people who do live stuff and electronic techno house music

if you want to do hip hop

    get a mpc 1000 or a 2500

but you sound like some one who's more visual so just get a MPD 24 or MPD 32 wich is mpc pads but they are made to control a music program on your computer , a rack sampler or rack synth

and dont bother getting some old mpcs

like the mpc 60,mpc3000,mpc2000or mpc2000xl cause they are GREAT but putting samples into them is long

  • TO JOEYCARR333

  • @worldcreations wtf how would the lower versions be better for hiphop when this can do all what they do and more...

  • @danny4572

cause if you do hip hop you better be putting your money on the 1000 that cost's

one thirt of the 5000's price and get a turntable plus mad records and some dope synth that is more suited for hip hop that the one that comes within the 5000

cause you wont be needing nothing more than the potential of a 1000 on a JJ Operating System wich cost's from45 to 75 dollars and makes your mpc 1000 pretty much a 2500

  • cmon.. mac book pro with a korg nano pad and logic is not enought??

  • No dude, this is like the ps3 compared to computer gameing - major difference. I just got a 2500 and it's amazing, but I'm already looking at the 5000 haha it's awesome.

  • some body is real creative, using fl studio, and sounds like dj premier or d.i.t.c. deserves less credit than somebody who sounds like shit, using an xpensive mpc_?

    think about it..

  • I wasn't talking about credit, just what's the most fun. An MPC, to me, is so much more fun to work with than a DAW. But if you can get it done in fl, you've got my respect.

  • If thats what makes u feel better about using FRUITY LOOPS than so be it! But next time try not to compare yourself to someone who "sounds like shit"!!! Raise the bar!!!

  • of course dude, i open my macbook, bootcamp windows xp, program a beat with AIFF samples, export, and guess what same quality as a pro track.

why should i i have an mpc.

besides that.. if i wanna have some fun hitin pad with de FPC i can use my korg microcontrol, and thats it!

  • Comment removed

  • i got my 5000 2 weeks ago its a beast.i used to use my computer but wheres the fun in clicking a mouse any one can do that .plus i was pissed off with some programs jamming up on my com.hardware all the way

  • Basically a peeing contest with Roland.........lol but I still own one.

  • soft synth's kill the work flow,,,by the time you boot up and load all that mess, on an akai and triton you can do all the same, quicker, don't get me wrong i love my reson and fl8 but it takes out the live part of making music.

  • great, just like fl studio xD

  • THE MPC is slowly fading DAW software is the

future way more powerful Than a MPC one synth

is the upgrade what a lost for the price.

you can do all this with a DAW and MPD32 and still have alot more horsepower. MPC is really an old PC in a BOX still going 20 years later they have had there day. SOFTWARE SEQUENCERS are TAKING OVER AKAI knows this, big changes for the Future as computers continue to get stronger and stronger.

  • and to all the moron think this new hardware will surpase software i run reason pro tools reason and komplete 5 and the mpd32 i have 11 synths with komplete 5 for a fraction of this piece of crap that can only give me 1 synth

  • Dude, your timing is probably just way off as quantize is EXACTLY like on the MPCs if you select the correct resolution and settings. Before commenting any further on gear, you should at least make sure you've actually played around on it and know what you're talking about dawg. Also, the Roger Linn thing was a joke, why would I want his signature on my MV? It's mine, not his. :p

  • the sequencer in the MPC5000 is akai's best sequencer yet... It is freakin rock solid.. with or without quantise

  • And another comment that makes no sense at all, because on ALL Roland sampler machines you can adjust quantize to work JUST like on a MPC, even on the SP-404... the most basic sampler Roland currently has for sale. You can make any style beat with the Roland quantize, you just have to know your machine and that really ain't no difference to the MPCs. If you don't know what you're doing on an MPC, you won't be able to use quantize like you could either.

  • No MPC, nor MV nor SP has a tempo calculator, you will have to set the BMP manually, it's how the sht works man... The 2500 doesn't chop like crap at all, that's a myth. Do you have any idea what you're talking about at all man?

  • I realize I sounded a bit harsh here, sorry. It's just that SO damn many people get their info from unreliable 'hear-say'. The 2500 had a bug once that indeed caused gaps when chopping, but as far as I know (haven't used the 2500 in a year or 1,5) the issue was solved a long time ago.

  • You are wrong here, the MV isn't the first MPC-style sampler Roland made. Roland released the SP808, SP606, SP505 and so on. Really, the SP606 is a lot like an MPC.

  • no go motif...more sounds

  • they can't handle the truth

  • Or so it seems indeed.

  • This shouldn't be marked as 'spam' at all, but I'm sure they are working on an update for all 52 of those bugs. (I heard it were 54 now actually, but 3 show-stoppers out of the box ain't good!)

  • They've already got one out... v1.01, fixes 52 bugs, many of which shouldn't have been there in the first place of course.

Anyway, I hear ya. I happen to like the MPC way of doing things. The MV8800 is definitely a very capable workstation in its own right, and I'm glad Akai has some competition. I'm hoping they keep up regular OS releases w/ fixes and new features. I think Akai messed up naming this one 5000. Should be 2500 Ultra or 3500 or something... expectations are too high for 5000.

  • People can and will argue about the differences and so on for years to come about which is better and which sucks, but ultimately it comes down to usage in practice. I think both machines are capable, but after having used both machines(and still using both), I can't do other but say that the MV-8800 is in a whole different league. It's more or less a true all-in-one, where the MPC-5k is a lousy copy. The synth is nice, but basically Akai didn't know what to put in and just copied a lot of MPC4k

  • if roland is so hot why do the vast majority of top producers in the game fuck wit the mpc

  • Then you haven't laid your hands on a MV yet, as both in sound AND quality it's far better than the MPC5k. The 64MB Ram on the MPC5k is a downright insult man, the MV-8800 comes with 128Mb standard, up to 512Mb and is thus way faster, has more effects, more possibilities through plug-ins. Those 128 tracks are HIGH QUALITY ones, and in fact 8 of them are AUDIO tracks in HD quality just like the MPC. Specification-wise there's no way the MPC5k beats the MV-8800, you gotta open them eyes homie..

  • Also, dude you still fcking around with stock sounds? Man, music is all about sampling your OWN sounds, playing your own keys and so on. Heck I wouldn't care if the samples on the MV would be garbage, but thankfully most of them aren't (but yes there are some you will never ever ever want to use, but that's true for the Akai stock sounds too).

  • holy......built in synth!! all the new features are LOVELY

  • this would have been the shiznit 7 YEARS AGO!! Akai is so behind.I don't use the mv8800 but that kills even the mpc5000 from what i saw at the NAMM show this year.

  • you must have not seen much...lol

  • linn drum II must be 10 years behind, then.

One of the new Linn Drums will have an analog

    synth built in, also.

but everyone wants one of those because it will say Roger Linn.. whats the difference?

  • Because anything with a Roger Linn signature is great.

  • That's why my custom MV-8800 has a Roger Linn signature on it. ;)

  • I'm looking forward to seeing what the Linn Drumm II will become, however currently they don't have more than a prototype on paper. They are actively searching for engineers still, so it's way to early to judge. In my opinion the MPC 5k gets slaughtered by the MV-8000 and MV-8800 with ease, in fact so do the MPC-2500 and MPC-1000. The old Roger Linn-line is far better, but ever since Numark took Akai over it's going downhill there...

  • thats not true... the mpc5000 is the real deal!

i used an mpc2000xl from 99 to 05 and i used a mv8000 from 05 to 08. now i'm using the mpc5000... its the real deal. I have know regrets of getting rid of my mv8000, at all.

I love my MPC and the work flow kills the MV8000

  • True, the work flow is different, but sure as heck doesn't kill the MV-8000 and MV-8800 at all, in fact, loading simple drum kits on the MPC-5000 takes ages man, let alone messing around with them making a beat. Damn I don't even believe you ever owned a MV-8000, as it's obvious you don't know what you are talking about here. For real.

  • dude i've owned and own enough equipment to purchase a house..... why do people have to go there with people just because they dont agree.... the MV8000 was decent but thats it just decent... I dont regret getting rid of it.. and I love my MPC5000

  • Apparently you claim to have owned something, but you never really used it, or what...? Like whatever dude. If you would have owned both, you would know that the MPC-5000 just ain't the same kind of deal. Compare the MPC-5000 and MV-8800 in a store for yourself and you will see I'm right. As I said, I don't even believe you ever owned an MV, you're just a silly Akai fanboy that needs to grow up a bit. It doesn't matter what other gear you've owned, I'm talking about two very specific devices.

  • kids, stop arguing about gear and make some music...

  • Heck yes, you are totally right. It's just that some people find it difficult to admit that other gear is better, even when it comes to objectively measurable sht like simple specifications. I never said you can't make a very hot beat on the MPC-5000, I only said that I think the MV-8800 is better... but sure this is quite subjective as specs and work-flow don't say everything.
