Good video, very informative. I don't have the arsonal that you have, but I have a 9mm P89 DAO which has an exceptionally long trigger pull. I perfer this over my P345. Makes you think about what your aiming at.
I appreciate your thoughtful and experienced approach to sharing your expertise. Im fairly new to handgun ownership and learning everything I can about carrying concealed, expert marksmanship and mindset about guns. Thank you for your lessons, really. Portland is my hometown. I'd love to buy your lunch on visit sometime. Feel free to friend me on facebook.
Very good info. I have years of experience with guns, but am brand new to the world of concealed carry. Within the different types of carry mentioned, what are some specific brands/models of holster that you would recommend? Thanks.
Two part question. 1, What about carrying spare mags/ammo? 2, Any thoughts on single action revolver carry? I'm considering getting my carry license soon but I have very little funds and this will probably be the only centerfire pistol I buy for a while. Here in MA most of the good defensive pistols are more expensive, harder to find and/or banned.
@theyankeemarshal thanks for all the videos. watched quite a few on the CCW topic, a number of which were from you. yours were informative, gave me some good ideas, and kept me entertained. appreciate it!
@TheYankeeMarshal i think i sent ya a pm but if not i need an all around carry. With work in some bad areas. Im tall with big paws. Was gonna ankle carry the g30 but after watching a review you brought up good points why i shouldnt. Was thinking revolver cause they seem smaller. Appreciate all your vids man keep up the good fight and thanks for your suggestions. Anyone kick in all suggestions welcome
Oh @Theyankeemarshall any ideas for me for a smaller model then the g30 for summer carry? I think the g30 may show more with just a teeshirt on. Thanks
Good video i personally like the desantis iwb holster the black one you got. I carry a g30 hides very well on me. New to carrying and your right i feel people see the print and playing with your shirt gives it away more then anything i feel. Keep up the vids seem to enjoy yours and a few others the most get some good ideas XD
Only comment that I think of is: why do you down play carrying while at home? If a home invasion occurs (just as much of a possibility as being mugged on the street), would you have time to get to a safe from whatever position you are in? Is your front door in your living room? If someone kicked the door in with a gun, would you be able to respond immediately? The Samurai always kept a sword within reach, even when bathing. If you carry, always carry, period (where law allows). My $0.02
Very nice video. Going in next week for my permit and am trying to educate myself as much as I can. Currently I only own I handgun and it's larger but I shoot it well just due to the time I have had with it. Try to conceal a full size gun is definitely more work than a smaller one but for now I think I can do it due to the season. I really appreciate how you approached all aspects of carrying and were honest about hwo to go about it. Also, you mentioned Portland a few times...are you in PDX?
too easy to use it when you get drunk (illegal); too easy to use it when you SCARED. most peeps who carry have no permit. think about te ither guy being a human. if you not shooting hogs deer etc why you need a pistola. if u caint cook it dont shoot it.
Thank you for a good overview of cc holsters. Good info, not a lot of extraneous chatter and stayed on topic. Thanks again. Would appreciate little more ID of brands. What a selection.
Love your pocket carry 380 (with the skull). I'm thinking my wife would love that one, would you recommend it for "purse" carry as well? and how many shots does it have? Thanks friend and excellent job on the video's I liked them!
Very good information ... Just the type of video was looking for ... Thanks for answering most of the questions i had .. This vid is great for new ccw ppl like me
I ended up getting the XD9 as my conceal carry for 400 bucks after shipping and transfer fees. What products do you recommend for cleaning this pistol? Thanks!
What advice does anyone have if you are on foot (or on a bike) all day running errands and NEED to enter an "off limits" area (federal building, etc)
The only idea I have is to lock the gun in a small vault (nano vault, etc) inside of a backpack (with heavy wire mesh around it) and cable lock the whole thing to a bike rack or secure pole and get back to it ASAP before anyone messes with it.
Any other ideas? (leave the gun home is not an option)
Nice guns. You must like stainless (I have some as well, but have gone to more black because they are less flashy when out)
I understand the need for options, but I personally limit my carry guns to as FEW as possible. "Beware the man with one gun" (or a few)
There simply isn't time to practice enough with a huge number of guns in order to shoot them AS well. Most people would be ok with: 1 large semi auto, 1 small semi-auto and 1 small revolver. Practice with fewer guns = more proficiency.
I USE A GALCO SUMMER COMFORT IWB HOLSTER FOR MY G 23 WITH A GALCO GUN BELT AND A GALCO ANKLE HOLSTER FOR MY G 27 VERY COMFORTABLE THEY MAKE GREAT PRODUCTS
what is your experiences with the walther pistol? I have heard that the ppk has jam/ejection issues. Have you shot the walther alot? What ammo do you use for it? Im thinking about getting one and putting hallow points in it for self defense purposes. Thanks! great video!
@theradiantchild I pretty much exclusively shoot Winchester in mine, but I have never had an issue with failures. Mine is one of the new S&W versions.
@TheYankeeMarshal What about the PK380? I don't own a gun but I am about to get my permit. I was looking at several guns, I held the PK380 which felt good but hear it has reliability issues. Ive also looked into the ruger LC9/LCP, Springfield Xd40, and kel tec P32. Any suggestions for a first timer? Thanks for the response. Oh forgot to ask, is it worth buying online instead of a retail store?
@theradiantchild I have no real experience with the PK380 but it seems a bit bulky to me for a .380 carry gun. What exactly are you looking for in a gun? I find it is seldom worth buying online. The small saving is not worth buying something unseen. I like to support local business.
@TheYankeeMarshal nothing super bulky since I will be conceal carrying it. Using it for self defense obviously and something that's all around comfortable. I never wear shirts that require tucking in. Usually just nice polos that go over my belt. I'm not much on revolvers just because I don't like the way they look.
for you IWB holsters, which do you prefer - ones with dual belt loops or the ones with a single clip. also do you like tuckable holsters or stick with holsters where you have to wear your shirt out
@alenworn I actually think I prefer the single clip unless it is a heavier gun. I especially like N82Tactical holsters with the single clip. I am not really into tuckable holsters.
I was thinking of getting the don hume jit slide holster for my j frame revolver is it a good holster and is the firearm secure and tight in the holster. i use a in the pocket holster but i carry to many things in my pocket and need the pocket space do u recomend that holster i also have a crimson trace grip and it seems like it will fit good. thanks
Awesome and very helpful vid! I am a new concealed handgun carrier. In fact will carry today for the first time. Going shopping for holster. Your video answered many questions. I like the idea of being prepared. Thanks!
Finally........someone that preaches shot placement. I worked as a gunsmith in a little gun shop in Texas to put my self through school, and people use to come in and ask me what firearm was best for conceal carry. My reply was always the same, the best weapon for you to carry is the weapon that you have the best shot placement with. A .45 is worthless if you cant hit anything. Purchase and carry what you can shoot best.
Great video, good information! One question, what are the advantages and disadvantages between 2:00, 2:30, 3:00 and 3:30 position? Is it just a personal preference?
Thanks for the info... New ccw holder and have been trying to decide on my first handgun. Shot many like many... Just can't decide. Really stuck on caliber... So many people have different opinions, I just want something to stop the threat. Thanks again...
I grew up learning to shoot my dad's Ruger .22 LR and Ruger P345. I like both single and double action but I'm kind of on the fence about the caliber of the gun I intend to buy. I'd love to have a .45 ACP but also, if someone were to break in my house I wouldn't want to shoot through the wall and possibly injure my family. What do you suggest I look into? I'm an avid gun enthusiast and I go to the range every weekend so I also would like a gun that ammo doesn't cost more than 200 dollars per 500
@rockerchris35 I am having the same debate with myself concerning my nightstand gun. I do not want too much penetration. Right now I am leaning towards a .357mag loaded with .38spl ammo.

I love the look and feel of the Chiappa Rhino .357 and I'll probably end up getting one in the near future. But as far as an everyday carry I'm just at a standstill. In the part of WV I live in there's not much need for protection, so I don't need a gun with a lot of stopping power.
Is concealed carry for personal defense only? Or is there a greater issue here? I am concerned a situation may arise in which marksmanship may be required. Something like a hostage situation. What are the trade offs? I have a very accurate but large .22 which might be ideal in such as situation. At the same time I have a Ruger LCP which is most comfortable to carry. And an SR9 with a hicap magazine. For pure selfishness, I'd like to get an NAA mini revolver as a get-off me gun. Ideas? Thanks!
@thermionic1234567 It would be almost impossible to discuss all the possible scenarios where concealed carry might come into play. You just have to consider all of them you can think of then narrow it down to the most likely ones, and then decide what is most important to you.

I have my CCW but havent gotten a holster yet what do you think i should go with leather or kydex? I hear kydex wears the finish faster is that so? Like you im a little ocd about my guns just paid $550 for my first glock 19 and want to take excellent care of it.

I agree with you on concealed carry. Why give away that advantage!
Sure wish they let me upload any length videos!
You really did a great carry video. My OCD is my only reason for questioning if I should carry my Kimber Raptor!
Thanks my friend!
Great video, Good luck and you are In!
