@SpartaExplorer14 you dont get any back pressure true, but you need some pressure in the engine and the computer in the car needs those cats so that it can produce the correct hp... think of ALL of the wiring sensors that make the car work properly. hoped it helped some :)

i have long tube headers up to x pipe and then to the flow masters that i think are starting to go.. just cant get over the sound i love it especially when u down shift grate sound. i cant waite for to finish installing my cams. nice car sir

never ever ever take off the cats of a stock 2001 gt mustang,you lose a lot of power trust me,, i did it to my 01 roush stage2 biggest mistake i ever made..it only makes it louder and a lil slower. big difference

I just bought a 2000 mustang gt that has no cats in it... Now it is having problems! The running of no cats would not be causing these problems would it? I just replaced the MAF sensor, pcv valve and sparkplugs. When im driving, I will push in on the clutch idle waves a little then dies, happens mostly with the a/c on, but sometimes cruisin with the windows down. Any info is helpful thx guys

@TinyWeyant1989 i dont know where u are but theres a place here in Indiana That does tunes for no cats they did my car Does ur car have a SCT tunner ? and is your check engine light on? if so it might also be running to lean like mine did when i took the cats off..

@MizzouKid1993 put back the cats but open them clear them from inside i mean cut every thing the cats will be empty from the inside and then weld them back and install them back on your car and put the o2 sensors back ...

if you just want a really loud exhaust, get SLP Loudmouth and a X-Pipe and headers setup for your v6.

It'll sound decently like a v8 at idle/low rpms. However if you get on it it'll be more obvious it's a v6.

My friend has the setup and it's ridiculously loud - i actually hate it, it's too loud and annoying. But it may be what you're looking for.

Currently have a 70 Camaro, 73 Camaro (undergoing restoration), 92 RS Camaro (45K miles), and a 02 GT Mustang.

I love GM and Ford, the hell with Dodge.

@muchwanoboy916 i have a cousin that lives in cali and he runs an off road x pipe on his stang and when it is time for emmisions check he just bolts the stock mid pipe in place and when he goes home he swaps the o/r x back in

to madugui- just get a catted h-pipe, the produce a deeper tone. A- x, or a o/r x usually tends to be the more raspy midpipe

why remove the catalitic coverters? You know its illegal? A vehicle cant be sold without them because it wont pass smog. If you wantt performance you have to buy high-flow converters. I just bought a 2001 bullitt Gt and im having to spend an extra 1000 dollars to install cats in order to pass smog and complete the title renewal. Taking the cats off is not a good idea.

In Ohio they don't do e checks anymore so you can take them off without getting in trouble even though its illegal. Its all different depending on where you live

I heard that if you remove the cats, the check engine light will come on and cause some hesitation on acceleration. Is that true?

well i had the car without cats for about 6 months...and the check engine light never came on..

and i actually noticed some improvement on acceleration.

but it may be different for some cars because they have oxygen sensors near the cats..so in some cars check engine lights do go off

They sell something to plug into the o2 sensors to keep your cel from coming on. I believe its called an eliminator. They are cheap too.
