I am trying to put together a European trip that will include a journey on the QM2 to New York in 2012. (That is, coming home after I tour Europe). I hope I can pull this off. This ship looks fabulous and the more I see of it, the more excited I am getting. It definitely looks like a "must do."
Queen Mary 2 is a proud ship, a wonderful ship. The most beautiful Ocean Liner in the world today. I love the Britannia Saloon & the Grand Lobby. I want to sail on Queen Mary 2 so bad.
from 7:25 on... look at the passengers. Is this a nursing home facility? Every seems to be over 70. Seems boring. Everyone must go to bed at 8pm. I guess there is no nightlife on this ship. Let me keep searching for another cruise...

She is a magnificent vessel and... hold your bowels - I stayed up until 3AM almost every night - G32 rocks! and so do night walks around the promenade and balcony parties too! Nice to see my relief sculpture on board QM2 still looking bright as the day I installed it in the lobby. I spent a year making this sheet bronze sculpture, it was 7 x 6.5m square and I had to relocate my studio to build the artwork.
Went onto to make the relief sculpture of the QV, which had to be in a much lighter weight material on a marquetry background.
Enjoyed the making of both ship sculptures, but as yet have not had the pleasure(?) of sailing on either ship.

Why are people who go on the Queen Mary such snobs ? Remember the Titanic ? They thought they were the best, the most modern and they had millions in old money. And they all died when the ship sank.

The Emma Maersk is a container ship, the Oasis is a cruise ship and the Queen Mary is an ocean liner. 3 very different types of ship. The difference between Oasis and QM2 is that the QM2 is built to cross oceans so is stronger and faster than a mere cruise ship. The Qm is the largest ocean liner ever built. It's a bit like the difference between a Rolls and a Skoda. The Oasis being the Skoda.
I'd say the Queen Mary 2 is a Rolls Royce (one of the pre BMW ownership models)
and the Oasis of the Seas is a pimped Mercedes. You know those who have vulgar chrome wheels, spoilers and wheel arches. Driven by thugs and pimps with money (earned illegally).
Modern Skodas are actually good cars. Unmatched in their priceclass as a matter of fact. Far better than a Seat, from the same owner. Autocar's opinion and other well respected car magazines too.
As a professional Cruise Specialist, whilst Cunard are fantastic and you are quite right they are like a much loved Rolls, reality is Royal Caribbean have revitalized the cruise industry, providing families with lots of activity and a great into to cruising. Surprising how many go on to book Cunard and P and O as well.! Using a car analogy if I must. How many folk learn to drive in a Rolls? Not many!
Nothing wrong with the Oasis. It is over 50% larger than the QM2. It is more of a vacation resort ship than a classic liner. I would probably enjoy the classic liner feel the best. No doubt the QM2 is the nicest.
The glass elevator ride starting at :53 goes to deck 7 and ends looking into a seating area of King's Court (and vice versa). So get personal grooming ie fly check, booger removal, personal scratching completed by deck 6 or you'll be doing it in front of a bunch of diners. Probably those select few ones that you see 3 times a day every day of the voyage.
First of all Titanic was only biggest in 1912 but she was overtaken in size and luxury many times over in the 1920' and 1930's already. There have been hundreds of ocean liners bigger than Titanic.
And sorry to disappoint you but Queen Mary 2 isn't the biggest ship either. Knock Nevis, the supertanker is still the largest ship ever made, but it's decomissioned.
The biggest one now in use is EMMA MAERSK, a container ship, way longer and heavier than Queen Mary 2.
I too hope that you will realise that pleasure , you really must do whatever it takes to do at least a Transatlantic and it WILL surpass you wildest expectations , even if you are in a "D" grade cabin you are still treated a King ....The most unpleasant part of a QM2 voyage is disembarking . I urge you to.. "Go for it".

Everyone was excited and happy (and visiting). Our letter called, went to line for check in and pics,through security, on board by 2:30. Went for lunch in King's Court, explored ship to find some of the places I didn't last time. Everyone still excited and happy. (Looking 4ward to magic moments). Yippeeeee!

The QM2 is a beautiful Ocean liner and people of all walks of life love her. They go for the Ocean Liner Experience and that is classy. Myself, My Mum & Sister will be boading this beautiful ship in 21 days time. We are sailing transatlantic to NYC. This video is fab & has got me even more excited about out cruise. The trip of a life time & wow it's going to be amazing.
Isn't it a great ship?!! It is my biggest dream to travel on the QM2 in a princess suite. The ship has style and glamour, it is so nice. I think it's just fantastic to enter New York on this cruiseliner. Unbelievable! Wat a ship!

The song is called Proud, by Heather Small. She sang it at the naming ceremony. It was also used by the British Olympic Association in their bid for the London 2012 Games.
You have truly captured the QM2 at her finest. Having been on her 3x's, she is a very special vessel to experience. I too enjoy editing my videos & pictures afterward to remember the goodtimes. We are looking forward to traveling with her for many, many years to come. Anyone that wishes to try a different type of cruising but on a oceanliner, this is the ship (not boat) to do so.

The ticket price includes all meals on board as well as all entertainment. It does not include alcohol or non-alcoholic drinks purchased in the dining rooms or in the bars. It does include things such as tea, coffee and juices available in the food court and also afternoon tea. The price does not include access to email facilities available in every cabin or internet access through the library. Go to Cunard's website for more info.

There are 13 decks and you're right, she's not a patch on the old liners. QE2 is far more elegant and graceful but I'm afraid it's the age in which we live - big and brash is deemed better.
well i wish som1 could kindof take us back in time and recreat classical liners such as titanic mauretania lusitania olympic they would sell ALOT of tickets make huge amount of profit and people would enjoy it people could supply thier own clothes due to te time period and im sure they could put actresses and actors to recreat the scenes of departure and life onbroad make the survants speak old english it would be a big seller =] and we would all enjoy her soon there will be floating skyscrapers

Emma Maersk is around 170,000 tons while Oasis of the Seas is 220,000 tons. Queen Mary 2 is around 150,000 tons.

The song is called Proud, by Heather Small. She sang it at the naming ceremony. It was also used by the British Olympic Association in their bid for the London 2012 Games.

You have truly captured the QM2 at her finest. Having been on her 3x's, she is a very special vessel to experience. I too enjoy editing my videos & pictures afterward to remember the goodtimes. We are looking forward to traveling with her for many, many years to come. Anyone that wishes to try a different type of cruising but on a oceanliner, this is the ship (not boat) to do so.

I have never been on to a cruise and looking at the video itself kinda inspired me..A rather stupid question though..What does the ticket includes?? I mean is all the food, wines, entertainment and stuff included.???

The ticket price includes all meals on board as well as all entertainment. It does not include alcohol or non-alcoholic drinks purchased in the dining rooms or in the bars. It does include things such as tea, coffee and juices available in the food court and also afternoon tea. The price does not include access to email facilities available in every cabin or internet access through the library. Go to Cunard's website for more info.

Thank you. You'll have a great time on board. Take a pair of walking shoes. It's a BIG ship! And watch yourself in the laundry rooms. It's a jungle out there. It's where all the best fights happen as passengers scrap over the washers and driers. No kidding!

There are 13 decks and you're right, she's not a patch on the old liners. QE2 is far more elegant and graceful but I'm afraid it's the age in which we live - big and brash is deemed better.

well i wish som1 could kindof take us back in time and recreat classical liners such as titanic mauretania lusitania olympic they would sell ALOT of tickets make huge amount of profit and people would enjoy it people could supply thier own clothes due to te time period and im sure they could put actresses and actors to recreat the scenes of departure and life onbroad make the survants speak old english it would be a big seller =] and we would all enjoy her soon there will be floating skyscrapers
