  • At 5,56min you Cant See The Time ?!?!?

  • good video, thanks friend thas was what i need, U rock. from argentina. U get a new friend now. 100 points 4 U!!!

  • I did it! thank you so much for this tutorial.

I got a bit worried when the screen didn't work, but after a couple of tries with the 3 connectors it works.

    tnx

  • I personally wouldn't use super glue of some kind to stick them back on.

  • I am having the hardest time getting #3 cable to go in :-( How did you get yours to slide in so easily?

  • The videos helped me a great deal. very happy that my phone got no more cracks! just wanted to let others know is that super glue/krazy glue/etc. will be very hard to deal with should you need to change the screen again afterwards. It messes with the surface of the plastic frame, so just use it lightly if you need to. amazon sells kits with 3m adhesive for less than 10 bucks including shipping FYI. thanks again for the video guides.

  • Thanks for the video. I did it, but now the home button doesn't work? Help!

  • worked great!!!

  • I don't get it? Is this only the glass? or with the digitizer?

  • What's crazy glue please?? Is it what we in the UK call 'super glue'..? The stuff that you don't wanna get between your fingers...lol

  • where would u recommend to buy the glass from?

  • lolololol u said screw hole

  • Thanks unlock&go - You guys have really inspired me to get my sons 3G screen done.

I'm gonna pay the money & have a pro do it !!! :)

  • Awesome worked great thanks

  • Thanks! Worked perfectly.

  • great review

  • why didnt you take off the plastic?

  • Thanks Alot, this guide was a big help. Thumbs Up!

  • Great video thanks for uploading....Rated for you also

  • It should be re-worded as iPhone 3G Digitizer Replacement

  • It should be re-worded as iPhone 3G Digitizer Replacement

  • its the digitizer stick with glass together or the digitizer stick with lcd screen?

  • Comment removed

  • Was wondering why my earphone volume is not very loud after I installed the new glass? any suggestions?

  • is the OEM glass scratch-proof like the original one or i'll need to put a film on it?

  • Do you have a digitizer and screen together? Or did you skip attaching the screen to the digitizer? I ordered the glass because that was the only thing damaged. How do I replace the glass only? Or should I also order another digitizer?

  • what kind of glue do you use? i search in ebay for this kits and all came with a Adhesive...

  • Great vid

  • The title says replacing the Glass , and you are actually replacing the glass and the digitalizer. Just so you know, most people like me have the problem of only having the glass and no new digitalizer, how is THAT done? That seems to be something almost every tutorial skips!!! ashhhghhh

  • YOU MAKE IT LOOK EASY!

  • great vid ! thanks so much for the help!

  • hey!..I cracked my iphone screen today and im desperate to find a solution!...i saw your video and i wanted to get the parts....where did u get yours?? Is there any way you could help me out??..thanks

  • now phone does nothing.

  • I replaced the glass and made all connections the phone vibrates but screen is black. I have held down both buttons and still nothing. I suspect cable #3 (the one that locks down) may be damaged. What is it used for and what do I need to order to replace?

  • @tcon712

If the screen is black, then your LCD needs to be fastened tightly and/or you need to reset your phone by holding the home & power button until it turns on

  • @Unlockandgo

Thank you. I have made sure all connections are tight and have tried to reset several times now phone is doing nothing and is not recognized by itunes.

  • @Unlockandgo

Any idea what could make the phone not recognized by itunes?

  • @tcon712

    Ideas:

    1. The #4 compression connector isnt connected

    2. The Charging port is damaged

    3. Logic board connector has an issue.

  • @Unlockandgo

Phone is being recognized by itunes; however, screen is black. When is hold the home & power button it disappears from itunes and the screen stays black. Any ideas?

  • @Unlockandgo im having the same issue cant use any controls either no slide to unlock or anything works. no that i can see it but i can tell its at that screen cos i still here it start up and it connects to my itunes and everything have tried a restore still nothing could the black tab when u slide the screen in be hte issue the black bit of metal does it go above the silver or underneath up the top right hand corner??

  • @ReitaFan69 also when i was reassembling i accidentally turned my phone back on whilst i has just put tab number 1 back on and as it turned on i tried to turn it off and the screen was going white etc and then the tab 1 pulled off :/ would this have wrecked the lcd

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks!

  • The black plastic strip was not re-attached in your video, is this of really any significance if you forget? As I did too ;D

    Thanks!

  • Bad Digitizer or make sure your #2 compression connector is secured correctly.

  • Comment removed

  • If your LCD is White then your LCD probably needs to be replaced. You might try cleaning the connectors with DeoxIT, but more than likely, the LCD was damaged.

    This would explain your symptoms.

  • I replaced the glass on 2 iphones & now the ear pice recepticle won't work on both of them? what did i do wrong? i can only talk on speaker or blue tooth headset.

  • actually I just had to reset the phone. all worked nicely after that. thanks!

  • my cable on the replacement glass is too short....therefore i cant have all cables plugged in which is BS

  • im looking at a front case on ebay but it doesnt have any wires attached is it ok n just swap the wires over or some thing

  • i took off my faceplate and the screen, and than i connected everything back together and now the screen wont turn on but it still vibrates so i now the phone itself works. can anyone help me out

  • Hold the home and power button until the phone resets. Thats all you need to do!

  • @funnyjunk012 you didn't get your ribbon cable back in right... the one that needs to be locked in by lowering the arm. take the ribbon and reinsert it. this should fix it

  • Ehh I have queston. I did all what is in the movie and the phone dosent work :/ While the screnn was separated to the other thing i just could hear comming up 2 sms or something. I was doing that when the phone was ON. When I finished all that the phone stoped working ;/ I could call it from other phone there was normal signal but on my Iphone there was nothing... No sound nothing on the sreen :/ ANY IDEAS?

  • two ideas:

    1. Hold home and power button until phone resets and you see the apple logo pop up

    2. Restore in itunes.

  • the 1 dosent work ;/

The 2nd. The itunes dosent detect the iphone :/

  • Awesome!!! thanks for your help...

  • Hell Yeah!!!

Just want to thank you brother. Using this tutorial I fixed my broken iphone glass with no problems. thanks so much!!

  • **** ok, I do have an issue, now that phone won't work unless I put it on speaker???? please help!!!

  • @yahoeshua one of your connections is not fully attached thats all.

  • How to replace the back housing cover?

  • what if the glass you ordered doesnt have those cables on it?

  • then the glass is useless. you need the glass with the cables on it otherwise, your touch screen is useless too

  • what did you replace..the digitilizer and the glass ? or just the glass?

  • where can i buy that "glass" i dont want to have to pay 80$ for someone to fix it for me when i can pay 40 and do it myself!!!! help guys!

  • cant plug cable #3 !!!

  • So if I am fixing my 3gs, is the procedure the same or is there something different about the 3g versus the 3gs that I should know about?

  • The procedure is exactly the same, but different parts!

  • I replaced my glass but when I reconnected connectors 1-3, I'm unable to get a response from the display. I can hear the music playing but nothing on the display. Any ideas which connector isn't seated properly? They all fit nicely back in, but I was unsure about #1getting all the way in there before latching down. Could that be the problem? Thanks in advance.

  • Connector 2 is the touch panel/digitizer. That is the culprit. You may also have a bad digitzer!

  • you were right- apparently I didn't have it seated properly. Thank you

  • I successfully changed the screen but when prying the LCD off of the glass, my prier hit the LCD. So now, I have to buy a new LCD which costs twice as much as the glass. FML. Oh well, thanks man. At least the LCD's arent too expensive.

  • did it just like you did in the video, but when i was done the touch is fucked up like if i press somewhere it registers another place, any idea what i messed up?

  • Make sure #2 is plugged in correctly, otherwise you have a bad digitizer. Crappy parts = crappy results

  • does it work for the iphone

    3gs too?

  • Yes Sir!

  • do you know were i can buy cheap iphone with broken glass (don't say ebay)

  • Your Local Craigslist

  • Hey thanks man, I'm about to buy an iphone 3g for about $40 but it has a small crack in the screen. I will probably end up replacing it. The process didnt look too hard and should be easier for mine to remove because the screens not all shattered.

  • $40 is a good price. This repair is fair/moderate in skill.

  • Yeah thats what I thought considering most used working ones are about $200(at least what I have seen).

  • i hope my shattered screen comes off in one piece..other wise i see this being extremely tedious...no bother ...i dont have anything to do anyways.

  • I was not clear enough? when i calling someone and put my finger near the speaker - screen (diplay) stays ON. this is not nrmal.

  • man ... when i put my finger on sensors near the speaker (1. option) during the call display is extinguished. has a relationship that goes loudspeaker?

  • Thats normal. Your finger is covering the proximity sensory :)

  • one last thing, does the cable 3, which u have to slide in and put down the latch, does it have to be all the way in to the white line or is putting in as deep as i can okay? because i dont want to force it and damage the cable, is cable 3 for the ear piece?

  • No, it doesn't go in completely. I'd say about half way, then secure the latch.

  • 1. - first obtion

  • Then your ear piece is broken or your cable 3 isnt fastened securely. Make sure that you have the flex cable completely inserted into the receptacle and the flap is secured.

If that doesnt resolve it, you can try a restore, but more than likely youll need to replace the earpiece. You can find parts on ebay, but by now, i would just buy a new "mid-board"

  • I managed to change the window everything goes perfectly - less loudspeaker not hear anything when calling someone. What do you think is to blame?

  • Which speaker isnt working;

    1. earpiece that is behind the glass on the midboard that you just replaced

    2. speaker at the bottom of the phone.

  • Hey UnlockandGo, i have a small problem, i ordered a new digitizer glass and tried to replace my old one, but when i put in all three cables in and turned it on, it turns on and the LCD works fine but it doesnt respond when i try to slide unlock the phone, meaning the touch screen function is not working, how do i fix this? which cable is the touch screen cable? is it cable 1, 2 or 3? i really need help fixing this problem, the touch screen is not working! please help!

  • Hey. Well your issue is your #2 cable. Either its not securely fastened or you have a junk digitizer. I like to only use OEM parts to avoid this happening (cheap is expensive) and I know there are a lot of 3rd quality digitizers floating around right now.

Make sure that #2 is securely fastened, if it is then contact who you got it from and have them replace it.

  • Totally incredible video, I feel outrageously over confident now. Thank you thank you!

  • This will work for 3gs right?

  • Yes, You need a 3gs digitizer though! The parts are different between 3g and 3gs.

  • Well this would be great if it was just for glass but your video is not just for glass. It has digitizer attached to glass also.

  • thankkkkkkkkkkkkk youuuuuuuuuuuuu.

    merciiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

  • De rein, Pas de problem. Peut-etre le video prochaine serai en francais?!

  • thanks mate sifted thru a few other more simple tutorials before i found your one. worked a treat.

  • very hard to follow when attaching 2 and three, cant see, and narration not clear. should 2 3 snap in? how do u align them?

  • lol, you feel for it, its really not that hard, bub

  • is there a video to replace the home button line? or anything regarding the home button hardware replacement?

  • I would like to buy it but where at

  • Ebay.

  • The little flap holding the 3rd ribbon down came off! I can wedge it in between the connectors so it stays, but the phone won't turn on anymore or charge. What do you think could've caused this?

  • Are you afraid that using crazy glue will make it too difficult to replace the glass a second time if necessary?

What do you think about using hot glue instead?

  • At the time I made this video, the adhesive strips werent available, DO NOT USE SUPER GLUE! Order the adhesive strips off ebay for 3.00 or so. it will make your life much easier!

  • Thanks. I had just ordered the glass but based on your comments I've ordered the glass/digitizer w/ strip based on your comments. Maybe I can sell the glass back on ebay :)

  • Son of a bitch, I didn't realize what the digitizer was and just order the glass and took the whole phone apart and realized that the digitzer is attached to the glass and I actually need that shit LMFAO. FUCK!! GOD DAMINT TO HELL!!

  • it just happened to me i messed up the digitzer..., i think is impossible to remove the digitzer from the broken glass!!!

  • No not impossible, but pointless. Just buy the digitizer. Make sure if you have the 3G S that you are buying the one for the 3G S though, not the 3G. Found out the hard way that they are different parts.

  • lol, dude relax and don't do anything unless you have all the information.

You make me laugh cause damn I will be upset too...anyway take it as a lesson and remember nothing is free in life.

    Peace brother man :)

  • say, did u get that 3G on contract, or did u get it no commitment???

  • no commitment! You should see my newly customized 3g with a carbon fiber back and black bezel! Sweet!

  • I heard there is a kit that comes with an adhesive strip instead of using super glue or whatever. Do you know if this is true?

I'm seriously investigating all of this because I just bought the iPhone 3G S on the 19th and I dropped it today from 2 feet up, if that, onto tile floor and the glass is FUCKED. I'm gunna try and use my call center magic from being a rep for Cingular/AT&T a couple years ago but we'll see. It's worked for me alot so far lol.

  • How much does your kit cost? How much does it cost and how long does it take to ship to Canada?

I am assuming this will be the same process for the 3G S? I know it was different for the 2G because the glass was actually completely glued to the digitizer.

  • I can get you glass/digitizer and the OEM adhesive strips to fix your phone for 40.00. Where in Canada? Its the same parts on the 3gs as the 3g. I just replaced mine! haha.

  • Well, I don't need the digitizer. Literally just need the glass. Phone works fine. Would that be less money. And I live in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. I would also like to know more about this carbon fiber shit you are talking about lol. Sounds dope.

  • I can't say thank you enough for this video! Excellent step by step directions on both parts. Worked EXACTLY as shown! AWESOME!

  • very good tutorial thanks

  • Is there anywhere I can buy a new metal frame online?

  • Hmmm.. the mid board is tough.

You can buy them on ebay but they dont include the earpiece speaker or home button. you can piece it together, but Id just find a junk phone on craigslist and use those parts. its a bit easier!

  • Best tutorial on Youtube! Btw do you sell all these products on ebay?

  • I dont at this point. Unlock codes keeps me busy enough at the moment. Im in the midst of redoing the website and will offer all 3g parts.

  • How do i change the glass on a 2g iphone?

  • the first gen iphone is more difficult. I have completely stopped servicing the first gen because the case is easily damaged when removing it. The are other YouTube vids showing the process, but do yourself a favor and buy the LCD/Digitizer/Glass! Scraping the glass off the front can be done, with no disassembly, but getting it attached to the digitizer is the problem!

  • dooood, your video is far by the best!!! these yahoos have no idea what they are talking about and are giving bogus info that could potentially cause more damage than good. by the way, if you use super glue, will that be an issue in the future if you have to replace the glass again?

  • Thanks Rcb8114.

If I were do to this video again I would do it a bit differently. Here is what I would change:

    1. To get the glass/LCD out, get a suction cup (like one to change haligen lights. Then you dont damage your rubber boot!

    2. Use double sided sticky tape or buy the adhesive kits off ebay for aroung 10.00. Glue works, but its a one time use thing.

    3. Apply heat with a heat gun on low to the glass to loosen the adhesive.

This was actually the first time I had done this!

  • great tutorial. How much do you charge?

if you need the glass just google it ... or ebay ... his price up there is very reasonable!

  • hey i just finished doing this and i lost sensitivity on the bottom half of the screen what should i do?

  • Make sure your cables are all tightly fit and the LCD is securely in place.

  • yeah, ive opened and closed it like 5 times now, the only cable im not sure about is the third one, how far in should it go?

  • It wont totally go it to the white line. Make sure the flap is securing the ribbon too!

You might have a bad home button/flex cable!?

When in doubt, you can always take it to apple :)

  • Where did you get the glass with the cable attached?

  • I can sell you one for $35.00 plus shipping!

  • thank u soo much .... this was great to know ...

  • One Question... Where did you get the new glass?
