  • idk why the desert scene is considered the beginning of drone. this shit IS drone.

  • This song makes me feel like I'm being surrounded by a group of people with black ninja outfits on ready to slice my throat. I don't know, that was just the first thing that popped into the demented head of mine. (Just kidding)

  • Goodbye.......

My best friend got spooked 30 years ago right after his grandfather died, after listening to this song all night.(probably with a certain amount of substance). He died last november, way too young.I know what he must have felt, even though I have known this song for so long. Its creepy................Goodbye...........

  • Everyone wanted to be Jim Morrison. Iggy, apparently, was no exception.

Interesting song, it contains all the popular traits of music of the day; eastern influence, use of a wah-pedal, breaking away from the earlier, poppier sixties with songs of death, elongated track length, etc,.

  • Doesnt Iggy hate this song?

  • Cale's droning Viola , Dave Alexander's lyrics , and Iggy's vox ... LOVE it . Loved it the 1st time I heard this back in late '85 .

  • Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....

Is lyrics only for american accent.

Om sri ram dzej ram dzej dzej ram

It means "Win Rama, win to love of God"

    Stop anger, selfish etc.

    Make love, be happy. :)

  • epic but awesome

  • Great song.

  • i love weed

  • You need an acid trip to go with this song!

  • I always thought the lyrics were "run Jar Jar, run" (that's right, a fucking Phantom Menace reference on a Stooges video...)

  • @CoolerKing37 hahahahahha, I can't understand why I didn't come up with that earlier! run jar, jar run... Brilliant! hhahaah :D

  • @CoolerKing37 Makes me switch Jar Jar Binks for Forest Gump in my head

    "Run Jar Jar, Run!!!"

  • @thenoband rather not learned never to give out your own translation of what you see and hear! It's like the prepared food, which never did, and when it stops .. you've just put out! because it never learned to cook it yourself!

  • thousands of Japanese were killed by the tsunami, how many tens of thousands of lost lives will count tomorrow from radioactive; Stop him, the nuclear nightmare!

  • Wow, what a great track. Its very unusual and strange, especially from the Stooges, but it catches our attentions. I really enjoy listening to this song around midnight or later. I don't know about you other fans of the Stooges, but this is really dark and relaxing in a good way.

  • the first "no dope" band i suppose..

  • @forzainter02 That must be sarcasm...

  • its chanting time at the Church of the Stooges. Time to worship one of the most epic bands ever.

  • Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....Oh gi ran ja ran ja ja ran....

  • The stooges sound like christmas.

  • @ganonbanned92 its becuz thats how holy their music is

  • @ganonbanned92 I feel like I love listening to the Stooges best in the winter, although they're my favorite band so I listen to them all year round. I don't know if that's what you meant though.

  • When the Music's Over(Doors)-Sister Ray(VU-)Echoes(Pink Floyd)-Black Juju(Alice Cooper)-We Will Fall (Stooges)-The End (Doors). Seriously, this is the best way to spend an hour and a half.

  • @MikeHoncho42 put "Ozium" into it and ints gonna last eight minutes longer

  • si mangia.....

  • Yah...someone definitely dropped acid or ate some mushrooms or mescaline or something when they wrote this...this is some straight up third eye stuff. =D

  • it makes me wanna do drugs AND have sex!

  • @Alkestisj if you're a beautiful lady we can do both. :)

  • @Jonnythecowboy666 what do you suggest if i'm an ugly old man?

  • @Alkestisj We can trip on some l.

  • does anyone else think this is the most satanic song ever written

  • @radd973 why do u think so? it´s more like buddhistic mantra. it sounds very dark, but you should medidate on it

  • @vocotadyde i guess because i did listen to it on lsd one time and that whole trip was kind of a weird experience - anyway that's just the way it sounds to me

  • trancing

  • I didn't know Jim Morrison was a member of the Stooges :D

  • @TheNEWfilmfanatic99 iggy likes the doors a lot....his favs are the velvets,mc5,the doors and the stones put and the detriot area music scene from the mid 60s put together, their main influences

  • so psychedllic. one of my favourite songs, i wish they did more stuff like this

  • at 0:25 it sounds like: blow-job-job-job....

  • @TheJayman213

    Hahahahaa yeeaaah!!!

  • I bet they were wearing cloaks when recording this in the studio

  • listen to this when you're stoned man. you'll love it. tho i loved when i first listened to it (i was sober)

  • the guitar part is pretty much awesome.

  • Best song they ever did, I think this was an answere to The Doors The End, John Cale from the Velvet Underground plays the violin at the end, this isn't a song, it is a work of art, appreciate it as such my friends........

  • @shjoed

    it's viola god damnit!

  • @shjoed your so right man. Its totally got that Doors/' velvet underground vibe.

  • ahhhhhh............how i miss my lsd....

  • i love stooges and this song.. I've heard many stories about this song.. not sure if they are true..

  • Bye....

  • Omg i..LOVE IT! damn brilliant! And It sounds erotic, too *_____* omg WOW!

  • I love love love love love love that song!!! :D thanks a million times!!!!!!! =)

  • Doors+ VElvet UnderGround

  • @palteonato it's exactly what I was thinking !

  • @palteonato

no iggy and the stooges !

  • @palteonato Nope. The fucking Stooges.

  • @palteonato The Doors can suck Iggy's cock.

  • @eqlong The Doors and The Stooges are both good bands

  • a Doors song they never wrote haha, I would pay any fortune for see Iggy and Jim singing this together

  • The background Chant is: 'Om Shri Ram Jai, Ram Jai Jai Ram'

it is an invocation and praise of the Indian God Ram

  • The Back ground Chant is: 'Om Shri Ram Jai, Ram Jai Jai Ram'

it is an invocation and praise of the Indian God Ram

  • Too long for what it say's,it produces a nice ambience after a while.

  • i love it :)

  • Comment removed

  • reminds me of the doors

  • @MrObie94 sounds like My Wild Love in some way

  • can anyone tell me what they are chanting in the background?

  • how can i get that drone effect? its so good

  • 8:26 to 10:19 is really trippy when your stoned

  • Totally fucking beautiful.

  • Getting stoned to this is the shitX)

  • i rember geting drunk as fuck to this song back in the day.

  • Depressing.

  • the only song i dont like much, but i still love these guys :)

  • OK someone help me. Whats the song that has "said do you feel it when I (cut?) you" I'm pretty sure it was on the self titled stooges album but I cant find it anywhere. I love that song and was just reminded of it.

  • @poker4donks it's called "dirt" from the album fun house..the lyrics are "said do you feel it when you touch me..it's one of my favorite songs ever

  • @chloekott Yes it is

  • i like stooges, but this song is boring

  • Did they ever play this live?

  • this song was made in few minutes... because they ran out of time when recorded the album.. and they didnt have songs

  • Could have easily replaced The Doors in Apocalypse Now.

  • The soundtrack of my childhood, early teen years. I got into the Stooges when I was only 10, and this band made me develop a real personality! If it wasn't for Iggy & the Stooges I probably would be some sheep, following trends...

  • can anyone say marylin manson? lol..

  • @WarHater69 Marylin manson cant think of anything like this hes a dumbshit

  • This is Druid shit!!! I don't like it.

  • best listened to high lol this is amazing the stooges/iggy pop are simply the greatest of all time. does anyone know if gi ran ja ran ja ja ran means anything?

  • Awesome

  • This is AWSOME!

  • Fucking Creepy...

  • First time I heard this track , I was absolutely mesmerised !

Dave Alexander ( their Bassist ) was the primary 'mystic' of the band , and tracks such as this were his idea ; Cale ( V.U. ) provided the beautiful , droning Viola .

  • this song makes me want to do drugs

  • @boxofsoap hahahahaha

  • @boxofsoap Why are you not on drugs?

  • @boxofsoap i know how u feel man.

  • @boxofsoap The could be better in drugs...

  • omg this is great! the first time I heard this song I couldn't believe it was a song by the Stooges XD

  • sounds creppy but great band.great respect :)

  • graphattic, you da maan. i agree with you there xD

  • What a song!

  • I lived in Ann Arbor - and can remember Jimmy Osterberg playing drums for Louis and the Apolstles .... what a long strange path we all travel ...

  • incredibly awesome song...:)..with perfect atmosphere

  • john cale.

  • I fell into trance...

  • amazing!!!!!

  • this is sooooo tripy dude!!!! just smoke some, sit down, put this song and enjoy the pretty colors... the mary jane is optional, you get stoned just by listening that "OM JE RAN JA RAN JA JA RA"... love this song, love the stooges, man!!!

  • sounds like love music mixed with tribe music

  • so much can be learnd if our fingers wood listen to r peanut of a brain

  • @luvumo2day Yeah, like how to spell without making yourself look like a 6 year old...

  • Sounds like perfect background music for initiation into the Stonecutters.

  • Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds on my mind!

  • I really like that instrument in the back near the end...if I'm not mistaken its a cello

  • What came first?

this or the Doors: the End?

  • the doors

  • The End by the Ddoors came first... It was on their 1st album which came out in 1966 I think...All I know is that the end came before this

  • 1967 my friend

  • @bigdunk9

not 1967 but 1969 my friend.

  • @Mouninjoune

The Doors first album was what I meant my friend, which was indeed 67 haha!

  • @Robinzorz, Iggy saw The Doors and they were a big inspiration for him. Naturally he ripped them off a bit, but certainly ended up branching out on his own, in The Stooges, and solo.

  • The background vocals make me think some cloaked figures are coming to get me...

  • its the velvet underground song not lou reeds

  • I like listening to this one back to back with Lou Reed's Heroin, Patti Smith's Birdland and the Doors' The End. All like being in a dream.

  • 3 of my favorite songs. So fucking accurate!

  • Damn well said.

  • Cool stooges, a lil odd tho.I've never heard this one before,so I wasn't expecting something like this, what are those gibberish words they're saying, just a hint Stooges and Iggy Pop fan,but yeah this kinda reminds of the Doors' the end,I don't if anyone else thinks so?

  • "Om Sri Rama, Jaya Rama, Jaya Jaya Rama... " is what it sounds like they're chanting, pronouncing it as Om shree rahm, jah rahm, jah jah rahm"

It's basically an ancient Sanskrit chant to the Hindu god Rama. They must have been into some heavy meditation and mysticism back then. Pretty cool.

  • F@*king diggin it. Reminds me of Dead Can Dance.

  • does anyone know what oh gi ran ja means?

  • damn, this reminds me of like creepy communist settings. its deep

  • Relax dudes... this is no usual Stooges Song, this is a mystical experience, and even though many of you did not expect it to be a stooges song, I would say their career would be poorer without it....

  • i did not expect this from the stooges, but it's not bad.

  • Sounds more, to me, like music from some weird late 60's/early 70's horror flick,.. like say I Drink Your Blood or some such movie !!

  • Comment removed

  • Recommend me some particular songs like this one, my Stooges favorite!

  • the doors - "the end"

  • thats just...great!i'll roll another one!

  • Sounds like Venus in Furs.

I love Stooges. I love Velvet Underground. *_*

  • the fuck?

  • OMG how stoned were they when they recorded this

  • gotta love it though hey?

  • Legend has it that they were as stoned as you could possibly be, and that they made up the whole freakin album that day.

  • wow

  • John Cale played a huge part in this he was the great drone provider. the stooges liked the velvet underground alot and wanted to do avant garde stuff like this song and wanted to put this on their first album but the record company didn't let them. So on Fun House they went crazy with noisey punk jazz freak outs like LA Blues. They also wanted to do stuff like The Doors. The Stooges didn't just listen to strait out rock they listend to alot of avant - garde and world music
