  • I'm pretty sure they are real people. They just used a minimizing effect on the pictures and probably took 1 picture every other second to make it look choppy.

  • @RyuElle472 read the description.

  • just like figurines..wow..awsome..

  • Tilt shift ftw

  • That was amazing I wanna know how they did the water. Ther were points I was covinced they were real

  • was that bondi beach?

  • niceeeeee :)

  • real people, just really small. short humans are people too!!! :)

  • This is Headstrong Ft. Shelley Harland - Helpless (Funky Electro House Mix)

  • my camera can do this, It requires a lot of patience.

  • this is tripping me out

  • Just WooooW!

  • haha that guy running away from punching the guy at 1:07 made me chuckle

  • Low angle + Blurryness = genius!

  • Absolutely brilliant!!!

  • seriously WTF that guy must have spend months make this awesome 5 minute video

  • cute but ugly song.

  • muy buenooo!!!

  • How the heck does camera distance/ angle create this effect, i cant see any real signs of a scale model!?

  • Everything looks like a scale model, but it isn't. This is really cool!

  • this is too cute

  • cool :)

  • tilt shift!!!

  • i think some parts were a bit too close so it didn't look as good as it could have. the bits that were wide shots were better.

  • Wait, does he make everything look miniature, or is it all fake? O.o

  • He makes it look like they're miniature, but they're not. Hence, "fake miniatures".

  • That's insane.

  • oh my god this is so pretty

    little miniatures, i love it

  • @ adonis1936 .... i'm pretty sure the title is helpless - just a guess.

  • fantastic

  • jeszcze 6 długich miesięcy... :(

  • hmm the tilt-shift lens effect

  • Wow. This is just ridiculously weird

  • amazing clip + cool song :X

any1 know what is the name of the song?

  • Looks like stop animation!

  • very good !!!

  • where is this located?

  • when i'm watching it it looks like lil models haha

  • Pretty amazing :)

  • waaiit... those aren't people??!?

    CONFUZZLED :P

    help a sister out here..

  • They are people. This film is made using the tilt-shift technique, where only a part of the frame is in focus: this gives the illusion that they are models.

  • wow thats so brilliant, thanks :]

  • looks so real

  • Good job, but too long... need more editing!... same things, nothing happen... only good colorful shoots.

  • Damn son, wait till you get a little older and life starts to soak in more...

  • ??..

  • impossible

  • LOL at first i thought this was fake lttle toys that were moving around but then it starts looking real..

  • Amazing!!! Captures the Aussie beach perfectly!!!

  • как добились такого эффекта миниатюрности?

  • @vecherTV tilt-shift lens or imitating of it)

  • this is that "tilt shift" effect i never seen video of it but i've seen plenty of photos with this effect, basically makes all the surroundings seem miniature because of the area of the blur :P

  • OMG this is amazing ;)

  • You sure are right, spectacular! Thanks for ther share!

  • Totally brilliant.

  • maybe this is a dumb question but,

    are these real poeple?

  • nope he's just and ace at doing miniatures.....

it's very impressive I must add

  • @TheHipcrusher Yes. This video was shot with a special camera technique. Same is done for older adult swim bumps. Look up miniature faking on wikipedia

  • @TheHipcrusher yeah isnt it cool how it makes you think it is not then it is

  • @TheHipcrusher lmao!!!!!!!!! i was thinking the same shit!

  • @TheHipcrusher its a special type of camera lense genius

  • @TheGanjaman619 dude, chill. no need to be rude.

  • I'm going o be back on that beach in less than two weeks!! Woo hoo!!

  • what is the song? does anyone knows?

  • it is listed in the description and at the end of the film.

  • 捕鯨に判決を

  • Haha not even greenpeace can exist without diesel!! You are really setting e example here!!! I cant take my truck to the beach but greenpeace... they are doing it for Nature! HAHAHA they are a Joke!!

  • how do you know it wasn't running on bio-diesel?

  • because even then its not e good xample... it takes 4000L water to produce 1L BioDiesel!

How can you think this could be eco friendly?

  • water isn't exactly in short supply, and I'm pretty much sure a lot of the water would be from rain- also, please cite your claim.

  • ehm? not short on suply? ok lets say its not short on suply, witch it clearly is in the most regions on earth... the production of bio-diesel is pushing away the production of Food making the food prices rise world wide and so on...

so I hope you can see that its no solution...

  • once we find a way to effectively convert sea water to fresh water then this would not really be a problem seeing as how there'd be for our purposes "infinite" amount of water available then, especially with the natural cycle always remaking some.... however sea water to water coversion is very costly and ineffective at the moment

  • greenpeace ahhh jmmm I wonder how much oil that amn teamroller like (i forgot its name) uses per minute

  • well there are plenty of alternatives a non-profit organisation could take. your last comment just shows how close minded and hypocritical some green peace supporters are.

Green Peace marketers, like Red Cross are paid 3 months worth of what every person they sign up for per month. (If they signed up people for $20 dollars a month, the signee would get $60).

Green Peace is one big contradiction.

  • I don't support greenpeace, because of their stance on nuclear fusion, so claiming that I'm "close minded and hypocritical" as well as a greenpeace supporter is wrong. Please don't make sweeping assumptions, they are annoying.

Also, you haven't suggested any alternatives, which my post asked you (or anyone) to do in the first place, it simply claims there are "plenty of alternatives".

As for the Greenpeace/Red Cross marketers statement I'd agree this seems pretty ... manipulative, if I could

  • find any evidence at all your claims are true. if you have some, please can I have a link?

  • Greenpeace? Oh well. I was hoping it would be something interesting, but I guess not. Save the whales? Come on. Nobody gives a shit about whales anymore.

  • What is this?

  • The whole thing is actually real. The reason it looks like a miniature is because a focus lens effect has been added somehow, probably from a video editing program.

    Very well done.

  • It's most likely done with a split shift lens.

  • There are high aperture lens cameras that you can use to get the same effect =D

  • Not really, not for that distance at that wide angle.

You need a specially built optical system to obtain something like that, just as the author used. A tilt-shift lens.

  • Hmm, didn't know. Sounds like I don't know everything 0.o

  • Neither do I.

I just happen to study Photo, Video and Image Processing in college. ;)

  • 好得意~好正呀~

  • 1 estrella. Todo ese trabajo se habria justificado si la historia lo hubiera ameritado.

  • Традиционный вопрос: что за чудный трек? :)

  • WOW!

  • those are real people.

the blurred background and the blurred front create the illusion that those people are miniatures.

you don't need photoshop for that, just a special camera-equipment. :)

and it's not stop motion its just acclerated.

  • we're all very little

  • Awesome! You're one talented man!

  • Эх а в Австралии щас лето. =)

  • omg it says they are miniatures:O

  • I dont understand are these reall people or little dolls moving in Stop Motion ????!!!

  • read the description! its miniature effect made with photoshop haha.

  • u dont need photoshop for this at all

  • Not Photoshop but video editing software like AfterEffect, though the technique is similar.

  • stop motion

  • Actually they are all mostly wrong, the technique used to make this image uses a stylistic lens called a tilt-shift lens that shifts the depth of field on a diagonal and makes it shallow. The frame rate is then dropped and sped up (likely in post, though possibly in camera) and additional tweaks are done in an effects program like AfterEffects. If you are interested look up "tilt shift photography" on google or check out Lensbaby lenses.

  • This makes more sense, that it is real pictures of real people, Tweaked weather in camera or post editing,,,

    ThanQ : )

  • yeah for tilt shifting

  • SICK.

  • The editing is amazing.

  • this is pretty amazing, great job!

  • Sometimes I like a song I wouldn't usually, cos the video is cool. Sadly this video seemed boring due to the terrible song.

Normally like these effect vids but use an interesting song!

  • thats awesome...they did the photoshop miniature trick with video

  • really cool!!!

  • Moody and stunning. Great work!

  • im not sure if that was really far away angles OR the most elaborate stop motion video ever

  • You can esaily pull this simple effect off in After Effects. All you do is blur certain parts of the frame to make it look like there is insane depth of field. It's kind of common sense.

  • Not really. The mapping is not the same. The effect cannot take into account the spacial configuration of the plane in relation to the angle of the camera, it just blurs screen dots from low to high.

  • How is that done? How do they make them look like toy people? It's brilliant!

  • this is the suckiest video i've seen all week.. and it's the end of the week..

  • Oh I loved the feeling of watching miniworld! Great work!

  • good vid.

  • Those are real ppl but miniatured. Nice work

  • I honestly found myself wondering whether or not this was real or fake. Well done to whoever made it, they did a fantastic job!

  • very well made. they look like toys

  • I totally thought those people were toys. Especially the dump trunk thingy.

  • quite beautiful and very clever too 5 stars from me

  • Anyone know what model lens he was using? It is much wider than most tilt-shift lenses I have seen.

  • are there lenses for it? i always thought the overly shallow dof was created in post...

  • It could be, but I think that the director specializes in combining physical and digital processes. Tilt-shift lenses are old-school technology that is only used by art photo specialists or esoteric enthusiasts, though it is making a bit of a comeback. You can find a cheap example at Lensbaby (dot) com but most of the major lens makers have tilt-shift models.

They are fun to work with, especially if you have a crane like it looks like was used in this film. Maybe it's just a hotel room though.

  • ohhh thats what those lensebaby ones are for... like the bendable ones?

    well thanks for the clarification

  • Good vid, good song, cool sand whale.

  • soy monitos?

  • i like the song, i like the photography, but the activist bullshit is what ruins it. how does making a whale in the sand prove or do anything about the environmentalism or saving the whales?

  • right, so making this sand whale will make the japanese stop whaling, because of this pile of sand. even if you tell them to stop, they don't have to listen. it seems a futile effort to me.

  • This is so intoxicating!!! Can't stop watching it

  • Macro shooting is so freakin cool

  • It's not macro. Tilt/shift.

  • just great!

    JE

  • something is not right there...

  • 鯨魚 Into radicals it is fish-capital-fish. One wonders what anti-whalers have in mind. Sometimes it's easier to get money for "endangered species in nature" than techno-people. Have the whales have actually established telepathic contact with human minds close to sea? Or have the environmental lobby merely an empathetic affinity with aquatic life? Could this be unnecessary associative thinking (making connections where they do not exist) and deliberative over-analysis of a simple problem?

  • or are you making any sense?

  • all you had to say was "yeah, it's unnecessary associative thinking and deliberative over-analysis of a simple vlog."

  • yes it is real life. Cool video....

  • Is this real life ? xD

  • how do they acheive that effect?

  • Oh my, tilt shift lenses are so awesome!

  • absolutely fantastic.

  • That looks like to big of a project for a relaxing day at the beach.

  • is it me or does everything look like its been shrunk down to the size of a match stick

  • yup. that's the point

  • tilt shift is my new favourite thing

  • Such huge work! Awesome!

    /5 stars/

  • this sooooooo awesome 10/5

  • It's not puppets, its real footage just using tilt-shift photography. its pretty simple tilted lens attached to a small-medium format camera. Tilt photography uses simple law of depth of field that makes objects appear miniature and out of focus. From the looks of this its also been done with stop motion photography or staggered videography.

  • funny

  • Reaaaaaaaaal

  • they are real people

  • I think it's just lens blur with a fabricated depth map, quite easy (and slow to render) but a very nice effect. Does give character but somewhat distracts from what is actually being shown in the video, the friggin awesome whale!

  • Exactly. That out-of-focus effect is usually present in stop-motion animation.

  • love this effect :P

    looks like miniature

  • Everything looks like it`s scaled down :D

  • somewho this video looks fake or something. very weird

  • the perspective is strange in a way - at first sight i tought it was made with little puppets you know like they are on big toy train set xD

put i like it - makes me feel like it's summer :P

  • Yea I think it's done using a technique called "tiltshifting" which gives it that model like look.

  • I find it funny that despite the movie being about the whale being build no one comented on it, so here I go, Man that was an awesome whale! I wish I could do stuff like that.. :)

  • Oh wow. This is brilliant.

  • Crazy awesome, must have taken hundreds of pictures.

  • omg! epic

  • AWESOME!!

  • Awesome, I gotta do one of these some time.

  • Only Californians would be as redundant to construct a pool on the shore-line...
