Hagler was a proud champion with 12 successful defenses. Leonard, for all his talent was never interested in defending titles, just winning them. Sugar Ray knew he was box office gold & could call the shots without an eliminator. He took this fight when he felt Marvin was slowing down knowing he could stick & run as the underdog. The way this night was orchestrated like a 'Rocky' movie (aided by one ludicrously lopsided 118-110 scorecard) I found insulting not only to MMH but to boxing itself.
116 112 hagler. I gave a couple close rds both ways but the flashy punches of ray clearly had no power after rd 7. Hagler just landed such harder shots, he didn't look as good or quick but pro boxing is about damage done, if this was an amateur fight leonard wins easy but as a pro fight its obvious hagler did more damage and leonard had nothing left.
Marvin got robbed marvin landed the more effective punches was the aggressor not only aggressive but effective aggression and defended his tittle , ray landed some good shots but at the end he was doing a lot of holding pitty patt punches a lot of running and showmanship to the crowd he didn't do enough to get the W against sucha well respected champion like Marvin PERIOD
who cares if Ray could go 15 ? It's a 12 round fight, he trained for twelve, that's it. you people freak me out with your fantasy booking. that's like saying, if I only had a million dollars , I could date a supermodel. so what ? you don't have the million.
Even Marvelous knew he lost. How else can you explain the out of character silly dance he did at the end. I think both fighters are great but on that night SRL gave him a boxing lesson. In & out combo's kept Marvin off balance, and except for one punch SRL took he delivered the hardest punches that kept Hagler from rushing in. If Hagler wasn't so skittish he would have walked through the "weak" punches & dismantled SRL. Maybe those punches SRL was throwing weren't that soft.
Can you win a fight when your PRIMARY strategy is surviving?...There is a big difference between fighting defensively and running...Ali circled his opponents but he constantly hit them with left jabs and lead rights...And in five or six rounds their faces were badly swollen or cut..The only thing Hagler could have done was to tackle Ray in the ring...The ref should have called time out, walked over to Ray's corner and said "If your fighter doesn't fight, I am going to take a point away."
@Pleaver In a 10 round non title bout Sugar wins this fight---But a 12 round championship bout for a belt , (this one) Sugar did not win...You have to TAKE the title from the champion convincingly--Not by pitter patter fluries (that never hurt Marvin) ,then get on his horse . The sentiment for Sugar and the crowd clouded this decision.. Marvin was pressing this entire fight---Respect your opinion either way...
I had it 7-5 for Leonard but it could easily be 7-5 Hagler too. Leonard's punches were landing but not effective while Hagler was hurting him with his shots
first four rounds where definitely for leonard... he just needed to win three more rounds out of eight... unless the fifth round, all the rest of them where very tight... and i really think leonard won at least three more rounds. don't know why there's so much controversy about this fight. it's better to run and hit rather than moving forward without brains...
I score aggression as significant. With that said, I think Hagler won 4 rounds. I gave Sugar Ray the ninth. The last one could have gone either way. I think the ref should have been more forceful about holding and hitting after the bell.
@Stratomaster989 Leonard won the fight. He said what he would do before the fight and he did exactly that. He used flashy hand speed to build points and frustrated Hagler. At any other time, Hagler would have eaten Leonard's lunch. But Leonard was a tactician. He knew the time was right and Hagler had lost half a step. He was right. Hagler had lost his savagery.
Definitely Sugar won...! If the whole 12rounds are replayed in slow motions you'll see Haggler's punches missed more often then Ray. Great fights by great guys!
I would of liked floyd mayweather to have fought one of these two guys. None of mayweathers opponents would of lasted the distance with these two guys.
There's no doubt in my mind that Leonard won the fight handily. Ironically L LOOKED defensive but kept unleashing vollies that hit, while H LOOKED aggressive but rarely connected effectively. That dance he did at the end seems unconvincing: pretended jubilation knowing he had lost. It's amazing that L could stage a performance like this after a layoff, even tho apparently he staged real fights in secret; there's no substitute for real ring action. @loyaldude10 It's the age old adage, Tommy should have fought Ray like he fought Hagler, and Hagler like he fought Leonard. Of course Hearns broke his right hand in the first round with Marvin and basically had to fight with one hand for the next two rounds.
wow i have it 8 to 3 for hagler i see devon alexander type of flurries where leonard is pulling all his punches and hundreds of solid body shots being landed by hagler
Hagler won but it couldve gone either way.Alot of those flurries aint landed and body punches do count.Hagler gave away 3 of the first 4 but great fight !!!
i really think hagler got played. ray and his camp knew they could never fight a focused hagler at this point in ray's career, so they had hagler coming in not just to beat leonard, but beat him at his own game. again, at this point in ray's career, if hagler would have come with his south paw attack with those devastating body punches that killed everyone else, i dont see how ray could go 12 rounds. but boxers are rarely guilty of over thinking things, and hagler fell into the trap.
@K131399 I agree with your analysis of Leonard - Hagler fight. Hagler gave away first 3 rounds by not fighting as a southpaw. Marvin was reacting to Leonard's style, instead of staying focused on landing body shots to slow SRL's legs, weaken his arms and wear him out. You are point on: "Hagler fell into the trap". It need not have ended like this - good insight!
@loyaldude10 True, but not like Ray who had litterally retired, went up in weight and took on the most menacing Middleweight in recent history and once again, without taking a single tune up fight...pretty impressive if you ask me.
Hagler woin that fight by 2 rounds Ray shouldve had points taken foe persistant holding hand his flurries of punches looked good but most never landed
@KASHLAMDA --actually was 3 straight yrs he was inactive. had about 2 fghts in prev 2 yrs. But u r right--incredible to beat a great like hagler moving up in weight. Ali couldnt beat Frazier after 2 tuneup fights and 3 1/2 yr layoff
What a fight!!! I had it 115-113 for Leonard, but I can definitely see where people had it scored for Hagler. Some of those rounds were just RAZOR THIN!! Pacquiao and Mayweather could learn a few things from these guys.
Sugar Ray had too much ring craft for Hagler. This was a miniature Ali at work and considering his very long lay off it's an incredible performance. No one else could have beaten Hagler save the sweetest Sugar. Pure genius.
@cazz3000 Leonard made Hagler miss a lot of shots, more than Leonard mised. Leonard scored more shots, and mostly better shots, but Hagler fought well and definitely landed some good shots. The fight was close, but Leonard definitely won.
run..run..run..chicken leonard..for me..hearns is better than leonard..ugly fight thanks to sugar ray leonard..hearns vs hagler good fights.one of the best of all time..
@21NUEVAERA I agree. I can't stand people that have flair out of the ring and then run like chickens in the ring! I bet people that like chickens are chickens themselves because they can relate to the running game!
@LIVINGONTHEDOLE Leonard was in one of THE most competitive era's in boxing and fought nothing but the best! Hearns, Hagler, Duran, Benitez.....the list goes on and on. Ray took chances in the ring whereas Mayweather doesn't. Should they finally fight, Floyd will beat Pacquiao in an easy unanimous decision....just watch.
Ray took this fight with ZERO tune-up bouts, after a long retirement, went up in weight and faced the most menacing Middleweight in boxing! I'd say what he accomplished that night was pretty amazing!
the name of the sport is BOXING not brawling. Sugar Ray did clown too much and I feel sorry for Hagler. BUT, Leonard did enough to scrape a 115-114 win.6 rounds to 5 with 1 even.
Hagler won this fight, they robbed him and gave it to sugar ray as he was the fan favourite and was the more marketable fighter for the sport! The same thing happened in the leonard -hearns rematch, thomas beat ray all over the ring that night, knocked his ass down a believe 2-3 times and the judges somehow saved sugar ray by saying the fight was a draw! Sugar ray leonard one of the sports most protected fighters by the judges and marvelous marvin hagler the best middleweight of all time!
@KONG00000001 I agree! It was a split decision, and I believe in my heart, this outcome was FIXED! One judge had it by one round for Hagler, the other judge had it by one round for leonard. The third judge had it as a landslide for Leonard? What fight was that ahole watching. Ray ran away from Hagler the whole fight. A coward. Hagler chased him, and he ran away for his life, or he would have eneded up like Hearns.
@tonycapt1 I happened to agree (admittedly as a Leonard fan) with Guerra who gave Ray 118-110 after watching it with the sound off, but a lot of it was close. The majority of newspapers in the USA scored it for Leonard also. How could it be fixed, unless someone told Marvin to go easy?
@shiftwork I feel the fight was not fixed via the fighters, but the judge in question! , He should have been questioned? Even the most supportive Leonard fans will agree, that a 118 to 110 score was a joke and could not be legit. If one was to be honest with themselves, this fight was razor close. At the very least Marvin should have gotten a draw. He was the aggressor and went after Leonard from start to finish, not just some flurries and clowning at the end of a round. A great fight!
@tonycapt1 In peace. Surely if the judge in question was corrupt, then all he needed to do was to give it to Ray by one round, rather than draw attention to himself with 118-110. A great fight indeed.
@tonycapt1 The judge (JoJo Guerra) who scored 118 to 110 was wanted by the Hagler camp. Harry Gibbs of the UK was going to judge this fight. However the Hagler camp though he would favour SRL, so they had him replaced with Jo Jo Guerra. Funny thing is when Gibbs watched the fight in London he scored it for Hagler.
@KONG00000001 Hearns knocked "his ass" down twice in their third match - also Leonard scored two 10-8's when he had Hearns in dire trouble. The rest was pretty even, so the draw was correct. Marvin didn't have any real competition in Middleweight until he made the mistake of beckoning the top welterweights to move up. I had always hoped that Marvin would have moved up to LH and take the challenge that Michael Spinks issued, instead of fighting welters. Sadly he didn't.
Ah! all those hollywood peckerheads were pulling for the Sugar Man...Leonard by his own admission waited for the Marvelous One to get old! He said he saw Hagler get hit with punches against Mugabi that he never got hit with before. And the Mugabi fight took a lot outa Marvin. Old Hagler in a close "fight", and gets ripped off! Hagler was way better at middle than Leonard was at welter...
I love Leonard...but I'd bet everything I own that Hagler threw this fight. I'm not into conspiracies or nothing BUT IT'S BOXING...do you know how much money is in gambling in boxing? And how much of a coincidence retires, leaves the country, and is never to be seen again. And anybody that knows boxing knows that THAT is not the Hagler we've seen. He didn't even replicate his tendencies. Like I said...I'd bet anything I own Hagler threw this fight...
My score is 116 to 115 Hagler. Leonard kept tauting, which made it look like he was winning, but tauting is not landing a punch. This fight did come right down to the wire though, so I don't think there is any bias in giving Leonard the win, even though I think Hagler won.
FUE UNA FARSA LA PELEA. SE VE QUE MARVIN NO TIRABA CON FUERZA COMO LO HACIA EN SUS PELEAS. EN VERDAD QUE LEONARD ERA EL PAQUIAO DE AKELLA EPOCA ERA EL DEL BILLETE Y MERCADOCTERNIA . TAN FARSANTE FUE QUE MARVIN JAMAS VOLVIO A APARECER... A VOLAR MARVIN LE DABA UNA PALIZA AL PAYASO DE LEONARD SI HUBIERA SIDO LEAS LA PELEA.. ES MI OPINION
I thought leonard won, because of haglers lack boxing skills, but how could anyone score the fight 118-110 like one judge did. The sad fact is that leonard simply fustrated hagler, and hagler wanted to hit the equivalent of a heavy bag.
Ray won da fight 115-113, not movin hagler back had nuthin 2 do wit it, Hagler hit him wit sum gud shots but he was MISSING most of his power punches as Gill kept pointin out n Ray was landin most of his flurries
@darkhorse21xx ur absolutely right.. marvin hagler thru this fight, a champion who has his own rep to keep up and somebody that is competitive thru this fight for ray.. what a guy
@assbelonker279 Why the f would he thow the fight? He was screwed up after the loss to Ray, retired and moved to Italy and sadly beat on his wife. Why doesn't Marvin come forward now, in 2011 and tell us "the fight was fixed"? Maybe because it wasn't!
Why do people even bother to argue that Leonard won lol i have watched this fight maybe 20 times and everytime Hagler clearly won it on points, polotics robbed Hagler of a victory against Mr popular. Both were great fighters but seriously i see no arguement as to how Leonard won it was quite clear who won. This sort of thing has gone on for years Marquez was clever in his fight with Manny yet still got robbed his movement and slipping of shots counted for nothing yet Leonards did?polotics gone mad
21 foot ring lol way too big.........leonard won though /just.HAGLER still best overall middleweight ever though due to toughness, chin and sheer domination of divioson. AND yesJones jr is more talented but Hagler would work through bombs to hit eventually him...leonard fought more like Ali with footwork...roy was more like whitaker with power
in boxing the rule is,that the challegers responsibility is to bring the fight to the champion. all Leonard did was retreating from Hagler for most of the fight.
this fight was a draw everybody knows that! biggest robbery in boxing history. same as Leonard vs Hears II, Hears knocked Leonard down two times in the fight, the fight ended with a draw!!.
the petroneliis knew it hagler knew it ! we need it bad pump this man ! destroy this guy, do if for bertha man do it for everybody ! don't stop untill his down !! that should tell you who they think is losing ! hagler lost this fight because of 2 reasons underestimating him and just simply not being as great as leonard who showed here why he would have always beaten hagler ! a boxer of the highest skill period !!
Sorry, Hagler I meant to write, Was too anxious to post. While I I'm at it, however, let me respond to sidfox73. Are you really impressed by way Leonard fought? I saw better fights from him. He was a COWARD in this fight, running and hiding like a boy about to be spanked. Even the blind could see that.
Leonard did not win the fight. Neither did Hagley. It was a draw. Leonard ducked and ran away like a scared cat for most of the fight and Hagley was clueless as how to beat him. He was totally ineffective not knowing how to capitalize and finish that coward off. I scored it a draw 114-114.
118-114 for Leonard. Anyone who thinks Hagler won that is seriously confused!! Yes Hagler continued to come forward but he missed with a whole bunch of shots because Leonard was able to foresee them and move. Then Leonard would counter. Granted it was a very slow Halger but he had no answer to Leonards movement, speed and he continued to get caught.
@MrJonnyl123 Haglers people wanted that judge (Jo Jo Guerra) at the expense of Harry Gibbs, as they thought Gibbs would favour Leonard, Funny thing is when Gibbs watched the fight at home he scored it for Hagler 115 - 113.
Leonard RUNINNG AWAY IN THE LAST ROUND??? and holding and show-boating through many rounds.Leonard was an ALI-wannabe...that's not the way to build a boxing legacy. Fukin stand there and FIGHT!!!!!!!!
@dalymc ahahah, Leonard was 1 of the greatest, shut up, you mad cause he's slick and knows how to get away from punches. Aint nothin cool about gettin punched in the face.
IMHO , this is like a good soccer tean, they treat the ball like the best ,but if they can score, the beauiful game is useless.Same here, to beat a world champion ,SRL had to be absolutely better tan Hagler, and he wasn't. He did a very tactical fight, but in some point he had to throw good solid punches ,but he didn't.Again ,IMHO to be a champion one has to be MUCH BETTER than the current champion, and SRL clearly wasn't,but he was a much better business for boxing than Hagler.
After years away from the ring Leonard should have been eaten alive by Hagler. Just shows how much of a class act Leonard was. Wasn't Leonard going up a division also? Its no good saying Hagler was robbed. He had his chance and wasn't good enough. Yes the fight was close. Hagler was a great fighter but he was fighting an even greater boxer.
what do you mean Hagler wasnt good enough? Hagler was the champ and youre saying Hagler has to hustle to save his own crown? LEONARD wasnt good enough you stupid CLOWN!
In my mind, Leonard was nnever middleweight champion, not even WBC champ, let along light heavyweight or supermiddleweight champ. He just sought out the worst guy out there holding a title. Leonard was VERY lucky Lalonde, the weakest champ out there, was around
118-110, are you kidding? It was a close fight, 115-113 for Hagler was the right decision. Hagler never fought again, as he said they stole his title from him. I am not sure who the judge was, but it wouldn't shock me if it was the same chick that had Holyfield beating Lewis in their first fight lol!!!!!
Hagler won this fight ,albeit, not his finest performance, but certainly enough to win. He pursued Leonard all night. To beat the champion you have to bring it to him. Leonard danced the whole fight and won because the judges think he is cuter.
the very few times when the challenger didn't have to beat the champion in the fight. usually it's harder for the challenger to get a verdict, not so in this case. srl knew, KNEW, he couldn't actually hurt hagler, and had the strategy of winning by points. it's a bit like a football team playing for penalties, technically it's a win but it sucks.
@KellingtonBuzz there's a way of boxing, which is sporting, that doesn't including dancing and basically running away. As a kid I liked Sugar Lay Leonard, but now I see he just took the mickey, and made a mockery of the sport with some of his antics. You ask most people that really know boxing and they'll tell you Hagler was the best middle weight of this generation.
@MyKaratekid1 are you referring to the george foreman fight? in which case he knocked him out, ali usually knocked out his opponents. there is a difference between dancing whilst boxing which is what ali did, compared with dancing and running away which is what srl did in this fight.
This boxing at it's best. The sweet science. I am tired myself. I feel like i am in the ring. Thank you for bringing us this fight.

@justentime77 --Hagler was a little inactive too though. He literally ran out of competition prior to this
loyaldude10 1 month ago
@loyaldude10 True, but not like Ray who had litterally retired, went up in weight and took on the most menacing Middleweight in recent history and once again, without taking a single tune up fight...pretty impressive if you ask me.

@KASHLAMDA
He didn't win. Hagler 7-4-1 1 even. Ray ran most of the 2nd half of the fight..

@LIVINGONTHEDOLE Leonard was in one of THE most competitive era's in boxing and fought nothing but the best! Hearns, Hagler, Duran, Benitez.....the list goes on and on. Ray took chances in the ring whereas Mayweather doesn't. Should they finally fight, Floyd will beat Pacquiao in an easy unanimous decision....just watch.
justentime77 2 months ago
Ray took this fight with ZERO tune-up bouts, after a long retirement, went up in weight and faced the most menacing Middleweight in boxing! I'd say what he accomplished that night was pretty amazing!
justentime77 2 months ago
Anyone today that runs as much as Leonard did would be booed off the ring . . .
moreno7798 2 months ago
the name of the sport is BOXING not brawling. Sugar Ray did clown too much and I feel sorry for Hagler. BUT, Leonard did enough to scrape a 115-114 win.6 rounds to 5 with 1 even.
shahidafridi6 2 months ago
Hagler won this fight, they robbed him and gave it to sugar ray as he was the fan favourite and was the more marketable fighter for the sport! The same thing happened in the leonard -hearns rematch, thomas beat ray all over the ring that night, knocked his ass down a believe 2-3 times and the judges somehow saved sugar ray by saying the fight was a draw! Sugar ray leonard one of the sports most protected fighters by the judges and marvelous marvin hagler the best middleweight of all time!
KONG00000001 2 months ago
@KONG00000001 I agree! It was a split decision, and I believe in my heart, this outcome was FIXED! One judge had it by one round for Hagler, the other judge had it by one round for leonard. The third judge had it as a landslide for Leonard? What fight was that ahole watching. Ray ran away from Hagler the whole fight. A coward. Hagler chased him, and he ran away for his life, or he would have eneded up like Hearns.
tonycapt1 2 months ago
@tonycapt1 I happened to agree (admittedly as a Leonard fan) with Guerra who gave Ray 118-110 after watching it with the sound off, but a lot of it was close. The majority of newspapers in the USA scored it for Leonard also. How could it be fixed, unless someone told Marvin to go easy?
shiftwork 2 months ago
@shiftwork I feel the fight was not fixed via the fighters, but the judge in question! , He should have been questioned? Even the most supportive Leonard fans will agree, that a 118 to 110 score was a joke and could not be legit. If one was to be honest with themselves, this fight was razor close. At the very least Marvin should have gotten a draw. He was the aggressor and went after Leonard from start to finish, not just some flurries and clowning at the end of a round. A great fight!
tonycapt1 2 months ago
@tonycapt1 With you 100% on that comment my friend.
I think the audience swayed the decision too,all those fucking low life celebrities screaming for Ray.
Like you say, even with a draw, you have to beat the champ, not draw with him.
robert140602 2 months ago
@tonycapt1 In peace. Surely if the judge in question was corrupt, then all he needed to do was to give it to Ray by one round, rather than draw attention to himself with 118-110. A great fight indeed.
shiftwork 2 months ago
@tonycapt1 The judge (JoJo Guerra) who scored 118 to 110 was wanted by the Hagler camp. Harry Gibbs of the UK was going to judge this fight. However the Hagler camp though he would favour SRL, so they had him replaced with Jo Jo Guerra. Funny thing is when Gibbs watched the fight in London he scored it for Hagler.
sje1964 2 months ago

DroppinKnowledge69 2 months ago
My score is 116 to 115 Hagler. Leonard kept tauting, which made it look like he was winning, but tauting is not landing a punch. This fight did come right down to the wire though, so I don't think there is any bias in giving Leonard the win, even though I think Hagler won.

Boxing just has to be a fix...how can one judge give 118-110, and another judge sitting next to him, give 115-113.
It would be interesting if a boxing expert watched a re run of the video...round by round...frame by frame, and then gave us the true points scored.
troikagirl 2 months ago
I thought leonard won, because of haglers lack boxing skills, but how could anyone score the fight 118-110 like one judge did. The sad fact is that leonard simply fustrated hagler, and hagler wanted to hit the equivalent of a heavy bag.
holdencaufield200 2 months ago
Ray won da fight 115-113, not movin hagler back had nuthin 2 do wit it, Hagler hit him wit sum gud shots but he was MISSING most of his power punches as Gill kept pointin out n Ray was landin most of his flurries

darkhorse21xx 3 months ago
The fix was in. Ray couldn't move Haggler back.
Haggler continually punished Ray but he obviously held back.
Haggler had opportunity to really hurt Ray but he chose not to.
You could see from 3:50 on that had Haggler started teeing off on Rays head, the kid would be dead.
Haggler took pity on the kid and worked the body to the end with just a couple of head shots to let Ray know who's in charge.
I think that promoters talked Marvin into not hurting Ray because they knew what the KO would do2Ray

This sort of thing has gone on for years Marquez was clever in his fight with Manny yet still got robbed his movement and slipping of shots counted for nothing yet Leonards did?polotics gone mad

in boxing the rule is,that the challegers responsibility is to bring the fight to the champion. all Leonard did was retreating from Hagler for most of the fight.
this fight was a draw everybody knows that! biggest robbery in boxing history. same as Leonard vs Hears II, Hears knocked Leonard down two times in the fight, the fight ended with a draw!!.

Sorry, Hagler I meant to write, Was too anxious to post. While I I'm at it, however, let me respond to sidfox73. Are you really impressed by way Leonard fought? I saw better fights from him. He was a COWARD in this fight, running and hiding like a boy about to be spanked. Even the blind could see that.
kakyjasper 3 months ago
Leonard did not win the fight. Neither did Hagley. It was a draw. Leonard ducked and ran away like a scared cat for most of the fight and Hagley was clueless as how to beat him. He was totally ineffective not knowing how to capitalize and finish that coward off. I scored it a draw 114-114.
kakyjasper 3 months ago
118-114 for Leonard. Anyone who thinks Hagler won that is seriously confused!! Yes Hagler continued to come forward but he missed with a whole bunch of shots because Leonard was able to foresee them and move. Then Leonard would counter. Granted it was a very slow Halger but he had no answer to Leonards movement, speed and he continued to get caught.

IMHO , this is like a good soccer tean, they treat the ball like the best ,but if they can score, the beauiful game is useless.Same here, to beat a world champion ,SRL had to be absolutely better tan Hagler, and he wasn't. He did a very tactical fight, but in some point he had to throw good solid punches ,but he didn't.Again ,IMHO to be a champion one has to be MUCH BETTER than the current champion, and SRL clearly wasn't,but he was a much better business for boxing than Hagler.
imadownboy 3 months ago
After years away from the ring Leonard should have been eaten alive by Hagler. Just shows how much of a class act Leonard was. Wasn't Leonard going up a division also? Its no good saying Hagler was robbed. He had his chance and wasn't good enough. Yes the fight was close. Hagler was a great fighter but he was fighting an even greater boxer.

Hagler won this fight ,albeit, not his finest performance, but certainly enough to win. He pursued Leonard all night. To beat the champion you have to bring it to him. Leonard danced the whole fight and won because the judges think he is cuter.
easyscore 4 months ago
the very few times when the challenger didn't have to beat the champion in the fight. usually it's harder for the challenger to get a verdict, not so in this case. srl knew, KNEW, he couldn't actually hurt hagler, and had the strategy of winning by points. it's a bit like a football team playing for penalties, technically it's a win but it sucks.

@upkarsaimbi
I'm sorry but winning on points is the entire point of boxing.
KellingtonBuzz 4 months ago
@KellingtonBuzz there's a way of boxing, which is sporting, that doesn't including dancing and basically running away. As a kid I liked Sugar Lay Leonard, but now I see he just took the mickey, and made a mockery of the sport with some of his antics. You ask most people that really know boxing and they'll tell you Hagler was the best middle weight of this generation.

@upkarsaimbi Muhammad ali did the same thing
MyKaratekid1 4 months ago
@MyKaratekid1 are you referring to the george foreman fight? in which case he knocked him out, ali usually knocked out his opponents. there is a difference between dancing whilst boxing which is what ali did, compared with dancing and running away which is what srl did in this fight.
