There are no visuals on Legendary's godzilla yet. They said that the ones going around online aren't theirs, and they said they are sticking with his original look just making it look realistic. Legendary's already addressed how hated the 98 film was and obviously don't want to make the same mistake. I'm a huge Gojira fan and I'm excited about legendary picking it up. They're saying the same things they said about Batman when people were like oh no not more batmans. ANyone hate their Batman
i hope they would just leave godzilla back to japanese production. the american will try to make it "cool" or "better" but then it just destroys the whole godzilla feel to it
@etismyname How many domestic Japanese live-action films have you seen recently? Never mind that their film industry is foundering due to a lack of Japanese domestic viewership--most of their movies are chock full of cheesy CGI and bad acting. They drove Godzilla into early retirement!
At this point it's not a matter of which ethnicity attempts to revive Godzilla--it's a matter of putting it in the hands of capable, original fans of the series. (I'm a huge, but discouraged, fan BTW)
Cheesy CGI and bad acting is the style of Japanese live-action films, it is what makes it B-rated and therefore standing out from the highly commercialised american movies. those were the same for godzilla all series long until the american one, I don't see the american godzilla being as highly influential as the former one at all.
I don't see how it would impress an old fan like myself nor would it gain any godzilla fans (just look at imdb and the reaction can tell you a lot)
The reason the first Godzilla film got the "Power Rangers" treatment (1956, with Raymond Burr) was because, at the time, Japanese filmmakers/SFX artists--namely Eiji Tsuburaya--were on the cutting edge.
Jump forward in time half a century and you find that the same techniques are still widely used (Tokusatsu) because of Japanese adherence to tradition. On the other hand, the recent use of "cheesy" CGI has been a means of cost-cutting only...
godzilla doesn't need to be believeable, it has never tried to be believable: original has monster island, fairies and even king kong joined in the fun.
the monsters shoot lasers, sparkling fireworks and swinging the other monsters like wrestlers. but were the movies good? Yes they were, and audiences loved it because despite all the mess, the story actually is GOOD and Interestin
The new ones with the better CGI removed all the iconic things about godzilla.
I am sorry for taking the 1950s version godzilla as the original plot, where there was monster island and there were teams of monsters fighting against the other team?
and that's supposed to be extremely believeable for you I guess
@etismyname oh no, i was respondin to ur other comment, the "Cheesy CGI and bad acting is the style of Japanese live-action films, it is what makes it B-rated and therefore standing out from the highly commercialised american movies." "1950s version godzilla as the original plot, where there was monster island and there were teams of monsters fighting against the other team?" thats the 70s ur talkin bout, the 50s was a serious film with goji as a metaphor for an atomic bomb.
You guys got to read the description ya faggots, and yes, they are remaking Godzilla and he finally has some blue radiated crap instead of being just a smart dinosaur like last time.
Yes they are, An if any character deserves a Remake in Hollywood it's ''Godzilla'' the 98 movie was a terrible representation of the character. It didn't look, sound, act, or have any of his trademark abilities.
It's like Remaking Jaws with a Blue Shark or Superman with a different suit, attitude, powers n special abilities, that's what they did to Godzilla.
This is 2 any who objects this remake, We deserve a proper American Godzilla movie n Legendary is just the studio 2 do it
@DOOMVSHALO Gino sucked ass he was scared of the military for a start is was a runt compared to godzilla and all the movie was about was him having kids
@DarkFatalisBoy so instead we replace it with a unrealistic man in a costume with a dinosaur that looked like it was from mighty morphing power rangers
@DOOMVSHALO still godzilla (the real godzilla not the shit from new york) has probarbly had almost 20 times more views than gino has and that isnt including all the othe films that godzilla made dumbass
The actual design will have the over-all Japanese appearance, plus update's n detailed CGI to also appeal to American Audiences that don't like (The Man In a Suit) can't judge anything by Concept Art it's still way to early. The Trailer should be where every1 makes there Final-Decision.
It won't look like something out of the ''Power-Rangers'' but it will respect Toho's Godzilla, n will also have it's personal trademarks n atomic breath.
Shut up, Even Toho has had there share of Crappy Godzilla movies, Tri-Star tried an was an Epic Fail on all Levels. This is the same company that brought the Batman Franchise back from the Grave an did 300.
So until we actually see a Trailer for the feature film don't knock it...It has more then enough potential to be a great addition to the Franchise.
Just because it's American doesn't mean it's going to suck, so far they have the look down an have given him his atomic breath.
@VertSk8er12 it was a shirt at comic con and there was some kind of app or something on the iPad and it showed the atomic breath coming out on the iPad if you were wearing the shirt...something like that.

A new Godzilla movie is great news! A comic con t-shirt is a great idea! But augmented reality is so lame. I don't want to look at my t-shirt in a web cam. I'd rather grow sea monkeys. Folks at Legendary: please focus your energy on the movie. If marketing needs something to do, make vinyl toys. Us Godzilla fans can't get enough of them.

...Men in "rubber" suits and small-scale models of cities are more believable than bad CGI--and the two definitely don't mix.
