bisstube, Actually, the portion of the 2010 Census which utilized hand-held computers (GPS units) concluded in August, 2009. Yes, it is true that those census workers who used GPS units in their work needed to return their device, else their last paycheck would be held until it was turned in. I had no desire to keep it, so it was not an issue for me. Withholding a final paycheck makes sense for ANY business that has an investment in its property; why is the US government any different?
@theronandonly Which by the way is illegal. You can not hold a final paycheck based on something returned. The "owner" of the property can deduct wages but not withold pay. I would guess that the GPS was worth more than the wages so, witholding the wages could actually cost the employer more. You have a several hundred dollar GPS being kept by someone being paid $50.00, do the math.
@PhillyGirl1 I think people's concern is not the takers of the information but the processors of the information. your government has no right to collect personal information beyond number of residents.

They vent their anger on the person that has a difference of opinion. Maybe another country would serve them better.

Okay I'm a regular person trying to find a job to pay rent and live. I am going to try to get a job as a census taking person.
I am also Christian, I'm not a "I'm going to collect this information to harm you" person
