@WalrusesGunWild Before seeing Watchmen, I thought there would be no film that could top the Dark Knight... now its been kicked off my top spot by Watchmen. Dark and gritty films always do it for me.
that movie was really deep and dark and amazingly good, watching it kinda made me relize how the human race can be so destructive and how no matter how dark it gets theres always going to be a brighter side to it ........
that movie was really deep and dark and amazingly good, watching me kinda made me relize how the human race can be so destructive and how no matter how dark it gets theres always going to be a brighter side to it ........
The best scenes in this movie are - the intro, Rorschacks fight/s, Manhattan's monologue and that shot where the camera zooms out to the sound of All Along the Watchtower.
These are in my opinion of course, I personally found the rest of the movie quite boring, mainly with Rorschack whining on and trying to sound all gritty and mysterious.
I heard a joke once. Man goes to doctor, says he's depressed. Life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says "Treatment is simple. The great clown, Pagliacci, is in town. Go see him. That should pick you up". Man bursts into tears. "But doctor", he says, "I am Pagliacci." Good joke. Everybody laughs. Roll on snare drum. Curtains.
@hutchthecruck Superman is not a dark character. Superman in the comics is the embodiment of hope. Don't get me wrong I like Watchmen a lot, but that kind of atmosphere would not work for Superman.
"Watchmen" is a great great movie!! I have watched it three times. Each time I watch it I find something I missed and the meaning gets deeper. I have to read the book.
this movie, if your into it, really pulls you in and alot of the lines really makes sense in the right way. I just watched some footage of Alan Moore. Good people.
@simply0errca Same here, I find the same thing happens with me to movies like A Christmas Story, and Meet the Parents. I guess you can expect that from a well directed movie.
@nemesis465 I must agree wholeheartedly. I was just recently able to get my hands on a coply of the movie, but I've read the book an excess of ten times. It is by FAR my second favorite comic book ever, only beaten by Sandman- Preludes and Nocturnes, which I have read about twenty times. But I digress. The Watchmen is supurb in any case, and my preference between the two lies in lengths shorter than milimeters.
@nemesis465 Well besides Dr. Manhattan, all the Watchmen are normal people who try to make a difference in the world, hence why they were called vigilantes. It's realistic because it's the first comic to portray how politics could effect costumed heroes when they realised the nation had more faith in them then they did the government.
@thanatan86 he fact that rorschach is in the movie makes me want to watch it every waking second of the day, yes thats right RORSCHACH! he is the fucking man. everything he says is epic
I liked the times they are a changin intro...everything was just perfect as it showed the downfall of the golden age of just about everything and the song was just soooo fitting/good
I like that it says "watchmen theme by Janis Joplin: as if Janis came back from the dead to write this song for the movie...

I have to say, even though the movie had its faults the music is very good and apropriate to the comic.

thats because the movie is not about superheroes fighting criminals all the movie long. Watchmen is so much more!!

calling the watchmen a superhero movie is like calling blade runner a robot movie, yeah thats what it is, but there is so much more going on.

I think the strongest scenes in the movie were the scene where The Comedian is killed, the intro, and the flashbacks.
I usually dislike movies about superheroes, but this was just awesome.
