@deathzstarz If you can, try to visit Japan or live there for a short period (semester abroad, etc.) to make sure it is a lifestyle that suits you in reality. Other than that, learn as much as you can about L2 acquisition as well as classroom management and you should be fine. Good luck!
haha that's so cool, I am a Japanese 1 teacher at my high school and I get paid for it. But I really want to teach English in Japan one day, it would be so awesome D: I envy youuuu!
Are those girls at 1:00 allowed to bring those fake weapons to school? =O They're so afraid of all that here in the US - even images of guns on clothing usually isn't permitted!
@Caldella because guns are banned in japan so theyre not afraid of them. instead of shootings, you get stabbings because knives and swords are not banned.
im moving to osaka japan next school year, it will be my last year of highschool so can i get any tips as to how im going to survive with being only able to speak 2 languages (english, spanish)?
@TasteForDisaster Students were not allowed to bring fake guns to school. The guns were part of the costume but they had to give the guns to the office and were allowed to have them back only when they left for the day, with the exception of this picture, the students were not allowed to walk around with toy guns in school.
@igmz777 Depends on what level of education you want to work at. Minimally, to get a working visa in Japan, you need a degree from a 4-year university. Beyond that, it depends where in the industry you wish to work.
Is it very hard to learn Japanese? I really want to go visit but i can't speak it only understand some of the more common terms, I'm really young so i can't do a college exchange or anything so if you don't mind can you give me some tips? For kids around your students age
@alyssaPaige81296 You don't need to speak the language well to visit a country. Just a few working phrases will do. Of course, the more you know the better, but I would not let the fact that I do not know Thai stop me from visiting for vacation, right?
But if you want to learn, then exposure is everything. The more input you have, the quicker your acquisition. Movies, TV, music - when combined with a more formal study routine, does a lot.
@kansaiPJ true. and well i have been listening to jpop and rock trying to get a better feel for it and watching dramas and all that fun stuff its just not catching like i would like it to.
Is it very hard to learn Japanese? I really want to go visit but i can't speak it only understand some of the more common terms, I'm really young so i can't do a college exchange or anything so if you don't mind can you give me some tips?
What kind of proportion of the people over there speak decent English?
I'm spending next year at either Waseda or Misashi (hopefully Waseda :D) and am getting on OK with the Japanese language, but I'm still unsure how difficult it will be as a non-native Japanese speaker, especially an Englishman rather than an American.
I wanna go to Japan!I aways wanted to go there but well its a lil dificult now because i have a lil baby girl and well...i hope some day my boyfriend is gonna take us there...im still young soo why not see the other culture and meet other people?! Check out my page!
@PineAppleLipgloss nah thats not true , everyone seems to really like him, because he's really nice ^.- did u know people like to talk to other nice people? ;)

Their English is amazing! I'm really surprised! It seems like they really do learn a lot in high school but then forget it a couple of years later if they don't keep using it.
i like the drakula guy!!!!! i loved the thing where you said the good and evil high school student thing! very funny!!!!!! i loved the way the drakula did his hair and make up (sorry if i got it wrong, it might be from an anime/manga idk. plus iam not a good speller as u can seee!)
you seem to be a full time teacher there. I'm planning to go under JET or one of the big private english teaching corporations (Geos, Berlitz, ECC, Aeon), but I also want the possibility to become a full time teacher at a highschool. Did you also start off at JET or a private corporation? Did you have to go to University in Japan before you could teach in the position you are in now?
@spandexninja To work in most universities in Japan, one needs at least a master's degree and have several publications. Originally, I started as an ALT (with JET). While here, I earned my masters at an American university with campuses in Japan. That's how I got from there to here, I guess. Hope that helps. Good luck!
@spandexninja Rather than JET or a position at a private or public school, you might consider the Department of Defense Education Activity, or DoDEA. It's a civilian agency that oversees all overseas K-12 schools on military bases, including dozens in Japan and Okinawa. It serves children of U.S. military and civilian personnel. The curriculum is modeled after U.S. public schools but the schools are well financed and the pay and benefits are far and above U.S. schools.
hi,im a teacher in mexico and salaries arent so good, i was wondering how do you manage to make a living in japan with a teacher salary, dont tell me how much, but can you live with it? i mean rent and food expenses. im thinking on transfering over there.
@persona4444 I am a university and high school teacher. I am on a different pay structure than ALT's and eikaiwa teacher, so I can't really give you detailed info. But suffice it to say that I am sure you could survive economically on a salary as an ALT or language teacher at an eikaiwa. The working visa mandates that.
i wanna go to japan so badly! im learning japanese so i can watch all my favorite anime and jdrama and music better. But my friends who been there says it cost alot there. I would do a college exchange but i don't think i can afford it
@BlueEyes72 The cost of living is high, but manageable. But I recommend you do a lot of research before you decide to come here. Jrock and manga are only small parts of life in Japan. Make sure this is someplace you are likely to enjoy before going for it.
I must confess PJ..That almost everytime that i watch your videos i'm a little tipsy..hehe..But never-the-less..I enjoy them very much..!! @kayoticxkaytie I am not a student, but a teacher. And this video was taken at a private high school with a special English program. However, even at public schools, there are some who can speak pretty well, but they are shy about doing so. Peer pressure and all...
@kansaiPJ Thank you. all your video's of your students in japan, are they all in Osaka, or did you travel to different parts of Japan to teach? i was just wondering because i want to travel to Japan one day & im scoping out areas to visit in.
lol, I know this will sound really childish, but do you know if you can go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood and stuff? Oh, and what highschool was that?
@yugioh5dscrazy101 No, halloween is not celebrated universally in Japan. No trick-or-treating door-to-door. Though there are parties and such in the big cities.
The school is a private, alternative high school. Naturally, I am not going to tell you the name, for privacy. Sorry...
hey there PJ my name is Daniel Priego, and i am currently interested in applying for the Jet Program. i was wondering if i could ask you a few questions if its not to much trouble... my email is Priego888@gmail.com thanks

@yugioh5dscrazy101 No, halloween is not celebrated universally in Japan. No trick-or-treating door-to-door. Though there are parties and such in the big cities.
The school is a private, alternative high school. Naturally, I am not going to tell you the name, for privacy. Sorry...
