I am Sunni( for now) but i have to say that Sufis did more for Islam than Shiites or Sunnis combined ever did... Almost all non-Arab people were brought to Islam by the teaching of the Sufi's !!!!

This is pretty scary and absolutely not from the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. When someone told me this kind of stuff actually happened i didnt believe it so i thought i'd youtube it. Wow, brothers and sisters please lets strictly follow the Sunnah which was taught by Rasool s.a.w, no one else knew how to worship Allah SWT better than him so lets not let our arrogance take over insha'Allah. sufis curse 'wahabi' and 'wahabis' curse sufis. True muslims are those who say la illaha illallah muhamadan rasoolallah. Do not be excessive in your prayers is what I understand from Islam being a revert. At least they are not chanting Muhammad. Islam can be pretty confusing to someone who reverted merely because of the belief in what the shahada says. I get my thikr from reading the quran and just thinking about lifes beauty and miracles

@MrLarry2002 THe Sufis are simple people who do not bothers others but when people like the Wahhabis Attack your faith and renounce your faith then you will go on an attack mode, defenece is important as SUfism is within Islam and is within the Sunni tradition read Imam Ghazali for clarification. ANd Saying Muhammad is permissible as it is also part of the Shahada, praising the Prophet is well read Burda of Imam Buseeri and the QUr'an says 'We are raised your praise for you',

It's not just "wahhabis" who criticized sufi rituals. Ibn tayymiya, ibn al-qayyim, Al-alousi, Al-thahbi, Al-qurtubi, al-Imam Malik bin Anas, Al-Shaafi'y, Abu Hayyaan Al-andalusi, Abu Bakr bin al-Arabi, ibn Hajar Al-asqalani, etc..

Those scholars are not wahhabiyya.

Dear SuperMastmalang: I don't want to get into the process of proving that the hadeeth you are referring to is in authentic. The grade of this hadeeth swings between inserted and weak.

You can enjoy a great thikr by reciting the Quran, studying it, or even memorizing it without going mad. Allah "sweetened" the human and decorated him with a mind and intelligence.

A "Sunni" is someone who follows the Sunnah/Way of the Messenger. Anyone who claims the Messenger carried such rituals and called it "thikr" should have no problem proving it.

I have no problem with people practicing such rituals and calling them "folklore," but it is definitely not thikr.

It is narrated in the Musnad of Ahmad (ra) that the Holy Prophet salalahu alayhi wasalaam said: "Udkhurullahu Hatta Yaqulu Majnun" = "Do so much rememberance of Allah the people declare you Mad". In another riwaya: Abu Said al Khudri (ra) reported that the Blessed Prophet salalahu alayhi wasalaam said"Do so much dhikr that people declare you mad",(Abu Yala and Ibn Hibban).
