The part about "be happy with what you have" is soo damn true trust me people. I started out with a 130$ squire, I played some concerts and improved my skill then I ended up with a MIM Fender Jazz. Now I'm having a custom bass built for me over the summer by some experts. Trust me make the best of what you have and just focus on learning not on getting a new bass.

@proxyflamer its an ash body, with some substance to it, but not too heavy, I really don't remember it being heavy. ( I gave mines to a buddy.)

bought a 5 string SX about a year ago....best 115 bucks ive spent!!! id much rather pay less money than spend 5 or 6 hundred bucks on a bass that everyone else has when i can get my hot rodded for half that much!

Hey i just got my SX 5 like yours,,, tell me why did they put a 4 pole magnet pickup in the back and a 5 pole in the front. This is the 2nd one i got i sent the first one back because there was a crack down the middle of the neck in the back. how is your back pickup?

I just brought a 4 string SX. I was impressed. I brought a Brubaker Brute 4 string and the SX is a better bass. I paid 485 for the brubaker and I could have brought 2 of the SX's. I just ordered another one, the 5 string. This is a cool cool bass for the price.

Man I bought an SX Bass from Rondo Music based on all the video's and it was a piece of crap! But for $119 really its a deal...I replaced the pickups, bridge, strings, and had to shim up the base of the neck, Now its worth about $600.00. But there Douglas and Brice 5-string basses are off the hook!! I got one too......

I ave been playing bass for over eight years. I started on an SX and i still play one (I own 3). They're excellent and I find that people will comment to me and praise it when they here me play it and then turn their noses up when i tell them it was $125 brand new. obviously they are not actually concerned about the quality, but the price.

Man , I'm no place near there. I'm looking for a first, well second bass< I wanna step up. My current bass is from a $150 combo pack. I wanna move up, my budget is no more than $250 for the bass and gig bag. Gospel, jazz, funk and r&b are where my passion lies. I completely agree with you on your review of your sx Bass I just received mine today from Rondo, mine is 57 5 string black finish maple neck and I also have that same Trb 1005. Sx makes one great bass.

I have heard many people speak of changing out the bridge.

Of course the bridge is not on par with a bridge that comes on a more expensive axe. But overall you get more than what you play for.

Do it up man. I got a fretless bass from Rondo just to try out a fretless for a cheap price and just loved the quality for the price. Since I've ordered a Fender Jazz clone from Rondo and switched out the pickups and electronics and now have an amazing bass that cost me around 600 bucks but sounds like it should have cost more than 2k. They're a sure thing. You won't be disappointed.

ah. I just got an SX bass, a 75 jazz type. I also ordered a JZ3, with the Vol, Vol, Bass/Treb stack. It's supposed to come in this weds. What a good deal......I can't tell if i'm playing my MM sig or the SX. it's crazy!

I bought an SX Bass with the Audere pre-amp. I am having trouble figuring out the wires since the installation video calls to ground all the wires together. Long story short. How many wires did you find inside you SX when you opened it up? After I cut them I had three wires two of which are pairs.

These things come awesome out of the box, but mod it up a bit (Audere, Badass II), and it'll be just as good as an American Fender.

sx stuff is really impressive for the price, Im a bass player by training and i will definately pick up some of these j and p basses clonse. I got a sx tele just to noodle on and my guitar buddies think its way better than the fender asian/mexican made teles, above the imports but below the americans in qulaity in sound--and you can get them for cheaper than the squire starter packs. They are ridiculously good buys for the price. I am happy for you make beautiful music with it.

Im planing on getting one the sx sjb-75c 4 plus 1 3ts ash. But taking all the vintage stuff that limits my playing off and then customising it. I going to put a audere original zx3 and basslines lightning rods, and thats it unless anything else seems to be needing improvement. One thing how is the action? I like low with good harmonics!

The action wasn't that low, I lowered the bridge action a bit myself... A pro setup is probably in order, but I didn't want to put any more money into it quite yet. I dropped an Audere in and it sounds good.

I like the SX, outside of the string spacing being a bit tight... I love it. I haven't played the MIM Fendeer or Squire outside of the music store, so it's hard for me to really compare them.

The Electronics were suprisingly not noisy at all... when I installed the audere, the highs got a bit hissy, and the tone got a bit electronic, but I guess should have been expected going to active from passive.

But it sounded pretty darn good out of the box.
