I don't think anyone doubts that the U.S. is favoured (yes with a 'u', I am Canadian) to win gold in men's basketball...but that has nothing to do with who invented the sport. It was invented by Dr. James Naismith, a Canadian physician. If you're interested in learning more, feel free to Google "History of Basketball" and see what comes up.
